Two of my other favorites are the soundtracks to the original versions of A Man and A Woman, (Francis Lai) and The Thomas Crown Affair (Michel Legrand).

Mark Knopfler's soundtracks are always great in my book, although sometimes the related movies are real stinkers.

 One soundtrack I just had to buy after seeing the movie was Master & Commander. Falcon & the Snowman is tops, too, although I found the movie quite depressing.

I was also really enamored with the music to Babel. The soundtrack from A Good Year also stands out, off the top of my head.

EDIT: Oh, and Pink Floyd's More. As for the movie that I finally got to see many years later, well......................

I watched Never Let Me Go this weekend, and it struck me that the music by Rachel Portman was exquisite and really drew me in. It also reminded me of one of my favorite classical pieces, The Lark Ascending by Ralph Vaughn Williams.

So this got me thinking and I started coming up with other movies whose soundtrack makes the movie. Pride and Prejudice is a guilty pleasure for me, in part because I adore the piano music.

Then, of course, there is North by Northwest, but really anything with Bernard Herrmann's music works for me!

Any other movies with perfect soundtracks?
