The Headline

Insurgents Fire at Rep. Payne's Plane in Somalia

The lead
Rep. Donald Payne's trip to Mogadishu, Somalia, on Monday to meet on international assistance to that war-torn country and the issue of piracy was marred when Islamist insurgents fired mortars at the airport as his plane was leaving.

The money quote
A defense official told FOX News that "explosive devices went off in the vicinity of Payne's aircraft when his plane was taking off from the airport in Mogadishu." However, the official could not say whether Payne was the intended target.

well, as presented, seems legit; unfortunately, there is so much distortion in these partisan news shows, that as i didn't see the pieces i know i have no idea what the truth is..having seen never seen keith olbermann  have an opposing or contrasting viewpoint on his show, and his rabid jealousy of o'reilly's ratings i suspect there is a lot more to this story than meets the eye.

your premise is contrived. fox news covers news the left leaning networks < all the rest > won't cover.

and hannity is intolerable, too right..like olbermann is too left
but the rest of the shows are very balanced..

but anyway i know you don't agree and thats fine, but i still don't understand how its creepy!!

What's creepy about it is that FOX poses as a NEWS channel.  Most of it's programming is politicized BS.  To be fair CNN, MSNBC, etc. are guilty in their own right, but not to the degree of FOX, which is kind of like the shark-jumper of all 24-hour news channels.  If they want to start calling themselves a comedy channel, then I'm all for it.  Otherwise it's creepy.  I don't see what's hard to understand about the concept.  Conan, Kimmel, et al come on regular network television channels, which do not purportedly dedicate their entire existance to "NEWS," therefore they can play whatever they want without it being creepy.

Except for Small Wonder and Alf.  Those were creepy but for different reasons.

if i watch the daily show at 3am in repeat is it creepy? why?

to make you feel better it plays at midnight on the west coast...same time as jimmy kimmell

and conan o'brien, so that should make you feel better about it...anyway try to watch it sometime..its politically incorrect but not one sided at all.
that would be intolerable. they have left wing guests and middle of the road and libertarians too...

look, red eye is an irreverent tongue in cheek fake news show like jon stewart and the daily show..

it plays at 3am and its hit and miss really funny and fast paced.......

it is all over the place in its opinions and host greg gutfeld is just as likely to make derogatory comments
about himself and his co host bill schulz as he is about any institution..
i don't see people getting so self righteous about jon stewart or steven colbert....oh wait yes..the thread
expressing hope steven colbert didn't go to far this time, hope he doesn't get in trouble...

i guess the unsubtle and unfair title of the thread gives it away..

but get a grip people, it was a jokey look at a news story just like colbert and stewart and no-where near the
snark and derision of bill maher..

but thats just my opinion, 'and if you disagree', in the words of greg gutfeld...
'then you sir, are worse than hitler...'.  {#Roflol}

Imagine if this was a show on MSNBC or CNN.  Where would your (insert-network) bleatings be then?

Given the bit you bolded, are you taking exception to the theory that news networks are as interested or MORE interested in entertainment that informing the public?  I'm pretty sure that's what you are saying, but I wanted to be sure...

Years ago, when i was consulting for GE medical, there was a rule for the managers:  you made your numbers every quarter.  No excuses.  You failed, you lost your job.  Period.

One quarter, one of the managers wasn't making his number.  He was sweating it.  So on March 27th, he sold all the repair inventory.  He made his number.  No matter that all the other divisions that needed repair parts were screwed.  He made his number.

Fox management says, "Make your ratings.  No excuses."  What happens after that is not their problem.    They can disclaim any responsibility.  So long as Mr. Murdock is happy with the numbers.

So no...they're not, um, directly involved...

Since I wasn't trying to say anything about Fox management, can I rephrase things to say that "we know that Fox staffers often make stuff up just to excite the base"? Can I, huh?

BTW, I'm sure that Rupert and his managers are pleased to have you standing ready to defend them.

*edit*  It's not likely that Fox management will take responsibility for anything. That's why Hannity, Beck and O'Reilly get away with the stuff they do.
