Mose Allison: Goodbye There, Universe, by Randy Shields
"If there was ever a year that killed more musical talent, I don’t want to know about it. Prince, Keith Emerson, Bowie, George Martin, Jimmy Haskell, Maurice White, Leonard Cohen, Leon Russell, Glenn Frey, Dan Hicks, Gato Barbieri, Merle Haggard, Bernie Worrell, Scotty Moore, Rob Wasserman, Pete Fountain, Bobby Hutcherson, John D. Loudermilk, Toots Thielemans, Pierre Boulez, Buckwheat Zydeco, Al Caiola. Two of the founding members of the Jefferson Airplane — Paul Kantner and Signe Toly Anderson — died on the same day at the same age. And now Mose Allison. The one thing we can learn from most of these people: to live a longer life, play a musical instrument."
By appearing on the cover of Rolling Stone in July 1973, Edwin “Countryman” Lothan, who has died of cancer aged 70, helped spread the notion of Rastafarianism, of which he himself appeared to be the personification, to a wider world.

Haven't been here in literally years, apparently, and I see (saddened) that the Journals are likely going away.
I went there to add one last comment to one I posted ten years ago called "Meet Gus."
Because Gus probably still has a few friends here who haven't migrated elsewhere, this news should probably be posted here.
Gus is gone. Liver cancer, probably, at only ten years old. We're heartbroken, but he had a great run in his world full of fun, friends, and adventuring.

We'll miss him. Oh, how we miss him already.
So sorry to hear of this. My sympathies to you and Muzik.

I was loving on all of the pictures at the other place. Gus certainly appeared happy and special.
