From Wiki: "The original 1970 US release of The Man Who Sold the World employed a cartoon-like cover drawing by Bowie's friend Michael J. Weller, featuring a cowboy in front of the Cane Hill mental asylum."

Holy crap. Carly Simon was being interviewed by Diane Rehm this morning and Diane asked her how she felt about Bowie's death - she hadn't heard.

That is the very first release. in this instance the US release came out before the UK release. Then Bowie changed labels and the next batch had different artwork. The Victorian building on the cover was supposedly of an insane asylum in Texas.

There is a photo going around on Twitter and FB of Bowie. The claim is that it was the last photo taken of him, on his birthday, by his wife. Very touching.

sweet indeed.

i've been listening to blackstar all day. i have only been drawn to a handful of songs he's done since the 70s but this is one fantastic piece of work to leave us with. haunting and masterful.
