yeah, you made me go and play Echoes. Perhaps my favorite Floyd track. Sheep being another really, really favorite track. I have some early BBC recordings of Floyd and you can here bits and pieces of riffs and themes for works in progress that later made into a final album form. Early Floyd liked to tinker live and string lots of things together such as pieces like this. By the time DSOTM came out, that was pretty much done because now they had a full time continuous video to play to and that made spontaneous bits rather difficult. Been listening to them since the summer of 1968.
Now I have to listen to Side 2 of Animals ... it's all your fault ... and roll another one ...
Funny. I went and played Echoes immediately after listening to Nothing Part 14. Sheep.... Animals is by far my favourite Pink Floyd album.
Listening to the Early Years, 1967-1972, I could not help but compare to Porcupine Tree's early space rock music period. I occasionally listen to and enjoy music from that period even if Steven Wilson seems a little embarrassed by it all.
Here's to stuffing the waterpipe with quality material in the depths of winter.....

The real Genesis. They should have changed their name to something else after Peter Gabriel left the band. Something more *pop*.
I did get to see the real deal. I saw them do The Lamb when it first came out in 1974 at Music Hall in Cleveland. A quality small hall with just 3,000 seats. Gabriel was simply amazing with all the costumes and props. An example at 1:24 time mark. A really great show. The song 'It" is one of the best finales for any concept album.

If your French is still good, take a listen to: Bonsoir... mon nom est Michel Rivard et voici mon album double (1985) . Bonsoir... mon nom est toujours Michel Rivard et voici mon album quadruple (2004) is probably similar in flavour.
His comedy, his story telling, his stage presence are just phenomenal. I cannot think of any English Canadian singer-song writer-performers that come close and English Canada punches well above its weight for modern contemporary music.
I also have it upon good authority that Michel Rivard is one terrific dinner party guest.
Can't say I'm a fan of Harmonium, but I do like them. Got a CD or two of them. Never heard of Fiori-Séguin. When it comes to QC, i'm a fan of Pagliaro and Beau Dommage. Oh, and Plume Lateaverse also. But none of that is Prog Rock.
I enjoy all three: Pagliaro, Beau Dommage and Plume Latraverse. Only own music from Beau Dommage. Out of Beau Dommage, Michel Rivard published a few CDs and they remain favourites.
Michel Rivard's solo material is absolutely outstanding. His on-stage humour is incredible.
