Not being an electric player I bought a strat once that turned out to be a Paul Reed Smith strat. Still means nothing to me but the guy I sold it to for four hundred sold it for eight. I guess it pays to research stuff. You're right though, strats rule.
PRS = very nice guitar. An old roommate of mine bought a PRS back when we were in college. Not sure if he still has it, and, if so, if he ever plays it.
I'm going to be looking for a classical electro- acoustic next year.Unfortunately,it looks like Santos Martinez aren't available this side of the pond.
How strange! Maybe they have different branding over there, a trade mark issue or something?
Absolutely, I'm firmly in the Gibson camp for the sound I want - Humbucker pickups sound sooo nice. Mind you, for the price of an SG, I'd have a custom guitar made in an SG style, if I had £2000 to spend. More realistically a Santos Martinez electro-accoustic (nylon string jobbie) would be nice (the Ovation I had a go on didn't sound so good unplugged). Back in dream land a handmade Spanish would be a dream come true, as I still prefer playing the Spanish guitar best of all, but my 36 year old one will have to suffice, and it is well run in now!

It's a matter of style. Strats are pretty much for gunslingers, but Telecasters,Les Pauls,SG's, etc all have their place.

I had the tremendous pleasure of seeing Paul Galbraith perform in an intimate setting in a local church a few weeks ago — Bach, Hayden, and Albeniz. His unusual set up and incredible concentration, skill, and feeling made for the richest sound. Ahhh ...
I personally prefer the Fender sound and Gibsons are quite expensive anyhow. SGs are ludicrously over-priced for what they are (IMO). I guess it depends on what you want though.

The list of top guitarists who use a strat is beyond impresive. Strats, new off the shelf, are not all that expensive but they are way ahead of others when it comes to being the choice for many top players.

Gotta love a strat. Mine is in a stand in a corner of my den...

That is a great deal. I bought two of the wall hangers for my acoustics at home. A little pricey, but I like them because they keep the guitars up off the floor. I have a stand like this for my Strat.

Yeah, I think folks in Austin know better than to mess with somebody's rig, but you never know. Picking up someone else's guitar is about a half-step away from a hanging offense.
I don't think it would bother me if Winter grabbed one of them. I used to play out at bars (25 years ago) and it always amazed me when I'd be on a break and look back at the stage to see some drunken whackaloon picking up my Gibson 12 string. The thing was made in the 60's and the first five years I owned it the guy at the pawn shop could play it better than me. I bought it in 74 and still have it. Talk about a guy moving through a crowded bar in a hurry!

I just got a Tacoma acoustic. A pre Fender hand made. This isn't one of the real big bodies but still a boomer for the size and after a setup the action should make it fairly quick. It's not one of my old Gibsons but then again I won't freak out if some drunk picks it up, or spills beer on it.
