Anybody who doesn't think that Biden desperately wanted to make a deal to release Griner to garner more black votes, well please pm me I have some great real estate opportunities for you I am just annoyed that Putin let him off so easy, he should have made Biden grovel and maybe publicly decry support for Ukraine or something really humiliating like that. Totally had the leverage, guess Putin just didn't really care a whole lot about all this. Anyway great point by Rogan:
The only one groveling these days is Putin.
Architect of a terroristic, failed military action which will ultimately be his undoing and will take decades for Russia to recover from. Pick your poison: he'll either be killed, exiled or imprisoned though it would be poetic justice if he spent time imprisoned in the same cell that Navalny is currently imprisoned in.
I think the primary factor in Grinerâs being exchanged was her being a celebrity. In a perfect world, perhaps that should not matter, but in the world we live in it does. There has been ever-present press coverage from the time she was detained in February 2022. That is due to her celebrity status, not to her being black, lesbian, liberal, Democrat. If this had been, say, Tom Brady who had been detained, it would have followed a similar pattern. That is what I believe.
But you can't say "they're appeasing/buying celebrities!11!". Where's the outrage in that?

Absolutely nothing about anything in this post makes sense, including your comments and the youtuber sharing a clip of another youtuber in order to add the wrongness "Joe Rogan is never wrong," but in this instance Joe does indeed make a good point.
Rogan's point is more relevant than you might think here.
While we can never truly know another's real motivation, currying favor with black voters isn't a ridiculous speculation. Black voters are beyond disappointed in the Biden administration and this deal is a low-cost way of throwing them a bone.
If that's the case it's also quite cynical. Biden has spent a long career as a drug warrior. If Griner had entered the US with a vape cartridge full of THC his administration would have also locked her up—maybe not for a 10 year stretch, but that's a matter of degree, not kind.
I'm glad she's back. She should never have been locked up. It is a hypocritical move though when the same administration is committing the same injustice it is trying to remedy here, particularly against the black voters it seems to be trying to impress.

However, the Kindle edition is ill-thought out and unusable. The book is over 1000 pages long but there is no active contents, no way to find the index and it is actually very difficult to move forward by chunks. I've been reading it on the kindle ipad app - and the only thing to do is to read it page by page, which may take me years.
Gotta admit that's off putting. When my job gave us a yearly stipend for health-related things, including cookbooks, I bought a few digital copies of various Mollie Katzen books, figuring digital wouldn't wear out and would be easy to search for various ingredients. But really, the format is hard to navigate.
Protip: scan the indexes/indices of your cookbooks with some sort of OCR-friendly program (I used Evernote back when I had the pro version; I think Apple's Notes program will work now) and then you can search that database instead of the whole freaking book.
