After a farmer died, his town learned he secretly paid strangers' pharmacy bills

Hody Childress was a farmer living off his meager retirement savings in the small town of Geraldine, Ala.

About 10 years ago, he walked into Geraldine Drugs and pulled aside owner Brooke Walker to ask if there were families in town who couldn't afford to pay for their medications.

"I told him, 'Yes, unfortunately that happens often,'" recalled Walker, 38. "And he handed me a $100 bill, all folded up."

He told her to use it for anyone who couldn't afford their prescriptions.

"He said, 'Don't tell a soul where the money came from - if they ask, just tell them it's a blessing from the Lord,'" she said.

The following month, Childress returned to hand Walker another folded-up $100 bill. And he repeated this every month for years, until he became too weak late last year from the effects of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease to make the trip.

Came home from Homers Despot after a lumber run and was hungry.
Made a soup concoction with chicken broth, rice, diced celery, diced tomatoes and meatballs. A real fast meal that beats and of the fast food choices out there.
Warmed me from my stomach to my toes .

By spaying an neutering, we hit the root of the stray problem and getting them involved with the vets really helps with the long term health of the pet and the relationships. It's really cool to see the kids starting to view the pets as family and playing with them and taking care of them.  The surgeries are all covered by donations and the medications are provided at reduced cost as well. 

This clinic did 197 dogs and cats. We didn't loose a single one in surgery or recovery (cats are normally problematic coming out of anesthesia). It was incredibly rewarding to be a part of it.

Outgoing Yellowstone Park Superintendent has said as much re: grizzlies and wolves. Successful reintroduction/repopulation efforts. Well done! Now what? People with cabins on USFS lands, hunters, backcountry users are all pretty tightly controlled so they don't attract/interact with bears, or wolves, but the animals are smart and still seek out the easy meals. Well, the wolves don't get into human stuff much, but they do eat livestock. There's a simpler answer there, but the wolves are coming down into the desert and sage, not just picking off high country grazers. 

We have bears over here now.
