For an amazing experience, go to Youtube and check out the Cure live from the past few years. Robert Smith and the rest of the Cure still sound AMAZING. Just as good as 40 years ago. It's incredible.
I imagine seeing them live is an even more amazing experience....

I get where you found similarities, but it's a typical Smith or Cure guitar sound.

Also, the main rif of this song has been used in Bloodflower's The Loudest Song, just in slower tempo. Still, both are great songs in my opinion.

I love seeing how far RP travels in a half-dozen songs or so. Seven songs separate Mary Gauthier's lovely "Mercy Now" from the Cure's "Burn" by way of Midnight Oil, "Blue Sky Mine." That's a long way to go in twenty-five minutes. Love it. LLRP!

Tried a great one in Bristol in the day.  I was a bit the worse for wear and the doorman suggested I might not like to enter, as it was a Goths and Glams night and I was perhaps a little "too old" to appreciate it.  Changed my whole life, I can tell you.  Bit strange stood in the loo next to a guy who was wearing a cape, top hat and lipstick. I couldn't go for a while.

I saw the show in Argentina, on 12th april 2013. Great show ! 40 songs... three and a half hours playing !
Robert is 54 years old and his voice sounds the same.
Reeves Gabrels joined them for the Latinamerican tour this year... and Tim Pope is filming the shows.

The Cure are a tough sell for me. I love the atmosphere of their songs and the synth-guitar stuff that just has that great gauzy gothy feel to it. But I simply can't get into Robert Smith's vocals. They always sound like he's petulantly holding back tears.
