'Don't look don't look,' the shadows breathe
Whispering me away from you
'Don't wake at night to watch her sleep
You know that you will always lose
This trembling
Adored
Tousled birdmad girl...'
But every night I burn
Every night I call your name
Every night I burn
Every night I fall again

'Oh don't talk of love,' the shadows purr
Murmuring me away from you
'Don't talk of worlds that never were
The end is all that's ever true
There's nothing you can ever say
Nothing you can ever do...'
Still every night I burn
Every night I scream your name
Every night I burn
Every night the dream's the same
Every night I burn
Waiting for my only friend
Every night I burn
Waiting for the world to end

'Just paint your face,' the shadows smile
Slipping me away from you
'Oh it doesn't matter how you hide
Find you if we're wanting to
So slide back down and close your eyes
Sleep a while
You must be tired...'
But every night I burn
Every night I call your name
Every night I burn
Every night I fall again
Every night I burn
Scream the animal scream
Every night I burn
Dream the crow black dream
Every night I burn
Scream the animal scream
Every night I burn
Dream the crow black dream

Dream the crow black dream...

For an amazing experience, go to Youtube and check out the Cure live from the past few years. Robert Smith and the rest of the Cure still sound AMAZING. Just as good as 40 years ago. It's incredible.
I imagine seeing them live is an even more amazing experience....
Not a big Cure fan but this is better than anything I've heard from them

Oh so you must have heard of The Red Man Group.....?  It's THE CURE for the Blue Man Group syndrome.
Since his voice is a 10  there is not much to discuss. Saw them two years ago and they played for THREE whole hours, closed with Shake Dog Shake!
A new favorite after seeing the video of them playing it live at Glastonbury. Phenomenal!

No, I get that idea too.  Percussion drives the overall sound as much or more than melody and chords.

10 for the production alone.
Excellent!!
Good Tune!

I get where you found similarities, but it's a typical Smith or Cure guitar sound.

Also, the main rif of this song has been used in Bloodflower's The Loudest Song, just in slower tempo. Still, both are great songs in my opinion.
The Crow!
Bill,
Let us not forget the son of Bruce Lee, Brandon… and the movie score this songs hails from, The Crow.
In my opinion a great soundtrack for that time and place in pop culture.
Great drumming segue Bill, "Are You a Hypnotist" Flaming Lips to "Burn" by The Cure. Drum patterns are very similar and awesome in both cases.
if it wasn't for the year, I'd have sworn I was hearing Johnny Marr on guitar...
Love the intensity in this track 10🍺🍺
Love the intensity in this track-10🍺
I love seeing how far RP travels in a half-dozen songs or so. Seven songs separate Mary Gauthier's lovely "Mercy Now" from the Cure's "Burn" by way of Midnight Oil, "Blue Sky Mine." That's a long way to go in twenty-five minutes. Love it. LLRP!

Went to a wedding a few years back and they had a string quartet for the pre-wedding, wedding and pre-dinner musical entertainment. The quartet only played The Cure covers. Amazing!

Love that movie. Just watched it not too long ago...
"Years active 1978 - present" !? WTH, who knew the Cure was a 70's band.  Been a fan forever and had no idea
Three hour concert last year at Paleo, highlight of the musical year!
From The Crow Soundtrack from 1994. This was the last great thing the band did. Their amazing drummer, Boris Williams, quit before making their next album, and for every album afterwards, his absence is noticeable.
Even the lyrics are kinda decent.
it amazes me that this band has been a part of the soundtrack of my life, spanning so many years, and I still love their music, it never became outdated for me. And they are still rocking!
First part of this track before the vocals had me thinking; Blue Man Group, really?

The percussion on this track certainly adds up with the other elements to get a 10 from me.  Immense.
It took a special mood.  Wow, this is one helluva pop song!

Simple Minds did some ground breaking work for sure.
A long way ,and pronounced evolution …. from the likes of "Killing an Arab" !

The CURE : No better place to gyet you melancholy on!
I can't listen to this song without thinking about Brandon Lee. RIP!!!!!!!!
When they're good, they're f****in' awesome.

Thanks Capt. Obvious.

My point is that, for me, I'd enjoy U2 a lot more than I do if they had a bit more *snazzy adjective here* to them.

blue man group may of found some inspiration here...

From the distant squeal you mean. "Premonition" would be a good name for this tune, too. That beat really delivers.
Too much The Cure the last few months on RP. Once a month would be enough thankyouveymuch.

Joining the dots in the burn,
Earns the Tousled birdmad girl, and
A madcap enterprising  award here ..

Lovely..."Like Cockatoos" would be a wonderful addition, if that is possible....

Tried a great one in Bristol in the day.  I was a bit the worse for wear and the doorman suggested I might not like to enter, as it was a Goths and Glams night and I was perhaps a little "too old" to appreciate it.  Changed my whole life, I can tell you.  Bit strange stood in the loo next to a guy who was wearing a cape, top hat and lipstick. I couldn't go for a while.
I liked it, thanks {#Guitarist}
{#Bananapiano}  Absolutely Amazing live; as good as it gets.  Cure are the dog's

Ok, pretty awesome like Raku.
Bill..............I know of no other way of contacting you but it seems I'm getting email that I'm quite sure did not originate from you. I have kept them if you would like to peruse them. They purport to be from RP.

That constant drone is annoying.

Awesome Song!!

This song is soooo hot...  love it more than baked tomatoes and fried oranges...

It's OK but a pretty far cry from their heyday.
Love this one.

I saw the show in Argentina, on 12th april 2013. Great show ! 40 songs... three and a half hours playing !
Robert is 54 years old and his voice sounds the same.
Reeves Gabrels joined them for the Latinamerican tour this year... and Tim Pope is filming the shows.
It was a dream come true.{#Guitarist}

Robert and the boys at their best. The Crow was a pretty damn good film, too.

Don't like the Cure? Fine. I can understand some people not getting what, for the vast percentage of listeners, is an iconic and breathtakingly good band.

But to have a pop at someone because his 'body language' does not suit your obviously narrow frame of existance. Well, that to me is borderline racist.

For that reason, you, sunny boy, are in my crosshairs. Grow up or ship out.

You're wasting good ammo if you aim for Stingray - he's just a mouthy little bastard who loves to stir things up whenever possible. ANY attention is good attention, as far as he's concerned. Still, I can't help but wonder if he's a dwarf clown with bad teeth and a little pecker, who lives in a basement and whose only contact with the outside world is through the Internet.

Geez, I think I just scared myself...

Naw - I'd rather just rattle windows. This song is worth it, especially in light of the fact that we have a neighbor who parties hard until four a.m. and then catches his ride to the mine; another neighbor with four huge barking dogs; yet another neighbor who has screaming matches with her live-in whatever-he-is until the cops show up... I think The Cure is the lesser of several evils.

This was noted a while back — it reminds me, too, of The Smiths' "How Soon Is Now?"
Was a mad-as-fcuk fan of The Cure in my youth... but lost touch... this is pretty good though & maybe I need to reawaken the listening..

Saw them at Sydney opera house last night... Unbelievable, feeling blessed!

Oh, Jayzus. My worst nightmare in triplicate. I HATE clowns (and subsequently, circuses.)  Still really love this song, though - and I think I'm going to re-purchase "The Crow" trilogy.  Now, please make those clowns go away, 'kay?
