I can't get no satisfaction
I can't get no satisfaction
'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no

When I'm drivin' in my car
And the man comes on the radio
He's tellin' me more and more
About some useless information
Supposed to fire my imagination

I can't get no
Oh no no no
Hey hey hey
That's what I say

I can't get no satisfaction
I can't get no satisfaction
'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no

When I'm watchin' my TV
And a man comes on and tells me
How white my shirts can be
But he can't be a man 'cause he doesn't smoke
The same cigarettes as me

I can't get no
Oh no no no
Hey hey hey
That's what I say

I can't get no satisfaction
I can't get no girl reaction
'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no

When I'm ridin' round the world
And I'm doin' this and I'm signin' that
And I'm tryin' to make some girl
Who tells me baby better come back maybe next week
Can't you see I'm on a losing streak

I can't get no
Oh no no no
Hey hey hey
That's what I say

I can't get no, I can't get no
I can't get no satisfaction
No satisfaction, no satisfaction
No satisfaction, I can't get no

History of R&R in 500 Songs - Satisfaction

I was enlightened about the lyrics around 'losing streak'.
What ?  I never rated this ?

Never was in heavy rotation is prolly why.  So nice to hear it again.

Been listening to it for what will soon be 60 years and still love it ... and the messages it contains.
I am able to obtain the sat-is-FACK-shun.
I was 10yrs old when this song came out, and I still remember where I was when this tune came on the radio!!!  It was the 2nd Stones tune that I had ever heard. The 1st was Tell Me (you're coming back to me)! I bought that 45!!  PS: I was at the Stewart's Root Beer drive-in in my mom's car Rt.37 & Fisher Blvd. in Toms River, NJ. Waiting for cheeseburgers, drinking frosty mugs of root beer!

great joke ;-))
@BillG: Where are the lyrics?
Charlie.
Blatant Devo ripoff. :-)
It's funny how songs like this when you first hear them, blow you away. And turn you on to the band, but you discover that the band is so much more than their biggest hits and that their biggest hits are never your favourite songs by the band.

Am I rambling or does this make sense?

According to wikipedia "Keith Richards wrote "Satisfaction" in his sleep and recorded a rough version of the opening riff on a Phillips cassette recorder.  He had no idea he had written it.  He said when he listened to the recording in the morning, there was about two minutes of acoustic guitar before you could hear him drop the pick and "then me snoring for the next 40 minutes."  Thank you, Phillips recorder! Rock and roll would have missed a classic without you.

I can't wait for the RS super deluxe box set that will include the full "rough cut" of this song that you describe.

If they stick with it for awhile, they may have some success with their own material.

The ROLLING STONES
Never get tired of hearing this one!
They really were young once
For jeez sake, in the album cover photo Richards still had acne.
Keith said that he's only ever written one riff - almost like he was born with it - this is it!
The greatest rock-n-roll song of all time.

One of the greatest, if not the greatest, rock songs.

He's like the "Energizer Bunny"! ...He just keeps going!

Neat play on the "Rocking" mix, and I'm finding a lot of rarely played (at RP) tracks here...liking this one more than I used to since I've completely stopped listening to the FM radio.  Call it an 8.3 and Long Live RP!!
I've heard of these guys. Nice cover of that Devo song.
what a track

Great forecasting and sense of humour.
There should be an 11 for this rock gem!

The Rolling Stones - "Satisfaction" Live (1965)

* This video was completely forgotten until someone fix it. ABKCO Music & Records Inc.: let alone the music community and music lovers. What harm does this little video? With this behavior, ABKCO will not be the worst enemies of artists and music as folk art? Spirit of petty persecution!"

This song started my record buying....1965 Everything lost in a flood....1990(sigh) Should have stored it above ground.
These youngsters are OK I guess, but they'll never make it big.
Sometimes I feel like I'm about the only person on the planet who simply cannot stand the Stones. But Mick Jagger gives me the CREEPS. Ewwwww.
i prefer the justine bateman version. (sorry, i'm a child of the 80's!)
finally! a rolling stones song i've never heard before!
goddam - is that Keith Richard in the front centre of the album cover?!?!?!?!
I think that this song is as relevant today as it was then, and that is why it is one of the greatest rock and roll songs of all time. I am not a big fan of the stones in general, but this song socks me right in the gut. It's protest against crass consumerism is just so right on, to borrow a phrase from days gone by.

The riff and the way he plays it is totally ripped off from--I mean a tribute to--the great Memphis Horns playing behind all those Stax soul hits from Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett and the like. Otis returned the favor by covering this song.

Too bad there is not a current "play gap". Like forever.
This may be the quintessential rock and roll song. I have never gotten tired of hearing it since that first time at Meadowbrook Park swimming pool, summer of 1967.

Overplayed like crazy on every radio station on the planet, and yet when it came on my foot started tapping. Wouldn't want to hear it too much, but geez it's good when it catches you by surprise.
And you may like to catch Charlie Watts' own band (name escapes me: heard it on a flight and forgot to note it) doing a brassy funk version called Faction
Going by the comments, there was a play gap from 2002 to 2007.

This song meant something once. Not for me today. Turned off RP and tuned in to KCRW's music channel... I suppose it must be played, but I don't want to be around to hear it, eh?
I remember seeing these guys on the Ed Sullivan show. They performed "Ruby Tuesday". My heart has forever belonged to them, ever since....even though they are a bunch of grey-haired granddads, they STILL rock! always
This song is the definitive shout of Teen Angst!!! It's ageless!
never fails to charge me up. Even the obvious songs sound better on RP..
"...he can't be a man 'cause he doesn't smoke the same cigarettes as me..." Love that line! hard to believe that in the simpler times when this song was on the charts the phrase "trying to make some girl" was scandalous! Ha!

True. One of those songs that stands for rock 'n' roll.
This is another of those songs, like The Doors' "Light My Fire", that seemed to grab the imagination and wouldn't let go. It would be a hit today. BTW, seems four and half years between plays should be enough.
Obviously it's a great song. But it's never been one of my faves. (I think it goes on too long, for one.) The Stones can be inconsistent but their great songs are great. It's one of rock's great songs but I think they have better and it's a bit overrated. That's my mixed message. It's an 8. p.s. Look at that there album cover...what a motley crew of gents...
Ha, I was just reading about all the RIAA nonsense and writing to my friends about it when this song came on. Nice! :D
timeless. it has been too long since this has been played -assuming it hasn't been played since May.
No rock radio station respecting itself can do without it. Keith Richards once said that he hadn't known a greater honour than Otis Redding covering Satisfaction. In his biography he's telling that he dreamed the riff. The first (and last?) time that happened to him. He woke up, picked up the guitar, and.....'I can't get no......satisfaction.....' That night he was so tired, that he pushed the button, got the guitar and ran through the sequence once. On the tape you could hear him drop the pick and the rest of it, him, snoring. When they wanted it as a single he said, 'NO WAY!'. He found the song basic as hills and the guitar fuzz thing a bit of a gimmick.
OK, this one I disagree with... great song, I love it and the Stones (pre-"Some Girls" Stones that is) but I didn't (and don't) enjoy hearing it here on Radio Paradise. We have a local FM station that plays a lot of the rock oldies from the 70's, and this track is played at least 3 times a week.. it isn't what I expected, or hoped to hear on Radio Paradise... how about some obscure track buried deep on side two of their first album? Anything, just surprise me... that's what Radio Paradise is about, isn't it? Still, as long as it doesn't become a habit I'll let it pass, as if I had any say in the matter. ;) Cheers Jacques Radio Paradise: What Radio Could Have Been.
Personally, I\'m completely numb to this song by now. Haven\'t we all heard it enough?
