Let's get carried away
Easily
Let's get married today
Shao Lin shouted a rose from his throat
Everything must go
A lickin' stick is thicker when you break it to show
Everything must go

The story of a woman on the morning of a war
Remind me if you will exactly what we're fighting for

Calling calling
For something in the air
Calling calling
I know you must be there

Easily
Let's get caught in a wave
Easily
We won't get caught in a cave
Shao Lin's shakin' for the sake of his soul
Everything must go
Lookin' mighty tired of all the thing that you own
Everything must go

I can't tell you who to idolize
You think it's almost over but it's only on the rise
Calling calling
For something in the air
Calling calling
I know you must be there

The story of a woman on the morning of a war
Remind me if you will exactly what we're fighting for

Throw me to the wolves because there's order in the pack
Throw me to the sky because I know I'm coming back

Shao Lin's shakin' for the sake of his soul
Everything must go
Lookin' mighty tired of all the thing that you own
Everything must go

The story of a woman on the morning of a war
Remind me if you will exactly what we're fighting for

Calling calling for something in the air
Calling calling I know you must be there

I don't want to be your little research monkey boy
The creature that I am is only going to destroy

Throw me to the wolves because there's order in the pack
Throw me to the sky because I know I'm coming back

There seems to be mixed reviews here, about the snare drum sound. I am one of those that does not like the "tinny sound". To each, their own!
Not their best tune.
I have, what is probably, an unreasonable love for this whole CD, yeah CD. It came out the year I moved cross country, and I listened to it A LOT on the many miles between MA and CA.
Not sure I’m a fan of the tinny sounding drums. They need to go deeper and not float under the lyrics, but use their depth to punctuate the tinny vocals, otherwise it’s all washed out in excessive tinny-ness!! 6.
Love the sound of the snare
Please no, not again, not since Keith Richard admitted early in his career that he only had ONE riff in him, has any one else admitted to that?
Red Hot Chilli Preppers have made a complete career out of one riff. Oh, and they're significant because the Drummer is from Melbourne, and likes naked.
And, just add this tedium to any playlist of Nickleback, Gotye, The Cure, U2, The Mission, Cult, etc, etc, and 70% of all other music. Face it, they're all one hit wonders, making zillion$'s out of one riff.
*there now, settle petal - I feel so much better acknowledging my jealousy.
Is it just me or does the guitar solo sound painfully out of tune?
Another semi-decent song played to f'ing death by NYC's "classic rock" FM radio playlist.  After too-numerous spins, guilt and garbage by  association came to apply.  I subsequently responded to every Red Hot Chili Poopers track with the car radio's equivalent of RP's psd, i.e., the pre-set button.  Better NPR or hip hop than the 2,267th spin of this track.  But it's kind of ok, in limited doses.
I've never understood the appeal of this band. Feh!

Yeah major disappointment. One rockin' good song to start out their career, then a LOT of songs about California (we get it, and, we've heard of it), and the rest of the material is essentially 3 or 4 different songs musically, with different lyrics. Yawn. Sox on Pet Rocks.
R H C P : The worse rock band ever !!

Me too!! I just can' stand this band ! Can't help it
Cuts like this just serve to reinforce my feeling that all their tracks sound the same with variations is tempo and twanginess.  Blah to my ears, sorry fans.
I just don't care for these guys.
I would like to nominate the following bands for the RP PSD-award:

1. Grateful Dead
2. RHCP
3. Nirvana

Some of their songs are great, some are just awful, like this one.
Good song.
And despite its limitations, it sure beats the shit out of "give it away, give it away, give it away now."

That's why I listen to RP. Because of all these "deep tracks".

One of the few RHCP songs I cotton to. Otherwise, a lot of goofy noisy noise. Flea? Give it away give it away give it away now. Turn it off turn it off now...but this tune is very listenable,

Some great tunes on this album, just not this one  {#Undecided}

Can't stand them. They just grate on me. Anthony Keidis annoys me more than Eddie Vedder and that takes work. Don't think I'll ever go through EISupreme's progression.

My Mondegreen for this song: I don't want to be your little research monkey whore The creature that I am is only going to the store. That's hilarious! And now I can't hear anything else. Must have been my time in Uni as an RA.
One of the dumbest album titles ever.
I don't know if its this song per se, but having it follow up "Houses of the Holy" is like sleeping with Carmen Electra one night, then Chris Farley the next. Its like having a nice relaxing massage, then all the sudden being impaled by rusty spikes. Make. It. Stop.
Great segue from Led Zep: Ask Flea which bassist he worships, and he will answer: John Paul Jones.
This band somehow found their niche but how they did that I just don't know. I never found myself riding the RHCP wave.
... Californication is an exceptional album, highly recomended for RHCP fans ifn you haven't already got it ... ...
Awesome! Fine tune from one of my favourite albums of all time.
I used to hate everything this band did. And slowly started to end up in situations where I had to hear them. And this band, more than any other has really grown on me. Not only do I like them, I enjoy most of their songs.
I\'ve read great things about these guys but never found their music to live up to the critical reviews. For me, this song (and most of the other Peppers stuff I\'ve heard) is very forgettable. Liked their \"Rollercoaster\" song, though... :(
My Mondegreen for this song: I don\'t want to be your little research monkey whore The creature that I am is only going to the store. This is easily (tee-hee) one of the best songs on this album. I like the throatiness of the bass line, especially when mixed with the sweetness of the lead guitar. Flea rules!
