When the time gets right
I'm gonna pick you up
And take you far way from trouble my love
Under big ol' sky
Out in the field of green
There's gotta be something left for us to believe

(Chorus)
Oh, I await the day
Good fortune comes our way

And we ride down the Kings Highway

No you can't hide out
In a six gun town
We wanna hold our heads up, but we gotta stay down
I don't wanna end up
In room all alone
Don't wann end up someone that I don't even know

(Chorus)

10 Everything!
Summer vacation during high school, my friends and I singing along with Tom while the factory stereo trying its best to provide the instrumental accompaniment to our straining vocals blazing above the wind noise as we well exceed the posted speed limit in that first car.
TP good but not one of his best songs
Sadly missed,RIP Tom❤️
Cars 3
why would i want to switch back on the old channel ?
Didn't likey in the 80's or 90's. Very much likey now. I growed up.
"I don't wanna end up
In room all alone
Don't wanna end up someone
that I don't even know."

Miss you, Tom.
So sad we'll never have new Tom Petty music again. All the more reason to play more of his older music, right, Bill?!
RIP Tom, gone too young.   A great loss
I see what you are doing Bill, Fats before and now Thomas Earle...
Why is Tom Petty so freakin awesome? I'm gonna be fired for chair dancing.
This blows! Tom Petty hasn't written any worthwhile music since 1982. All his tunes sound like the Traveling Wilburys with his whiny voice.
makes me wanna go drive a car!
One of the greats.
One of my favorite Tom Petty songs - no BS, no tricks, just a straight-ahead good tune with sweet licks and good lyrics. - Riff
love love love TP&H!!!!
This album is solid if occasionally uneven. It contains some true pop-rock gems of which this and Learning to Fly are absolutely primo examples. That Mike Campbell slide guitar at the end is just perfect, man. What's not to like in this song?
There's a very good live version of this on the Playback box set. It's a totally different tempo and feel, changes the tone of the song completely.
More Tom Petty please!
Great song from a great musician..
i was a fan of T.P. for a brief period of time in high school, but i very quickly tired of hearing him record the exact same song over and over and over again. kinda boring.
Great song. Can't believe the rating here is not higher... S
what a great song.
Yawn
"The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame says you had to have recorded your first piece of music at least 25 years ago. " Maybe Moby and Radiohead will make it if they last that long. (I hope they do actually, but really, think of all the people you've most likely forgotten about during the last 'n' years - no lasting power etc) Anyway love Tom Petty (and yes, he actually was more than slightly derivative at first -- but he was in a 'good' way) Shari
I have to say, Petty is always consistent. His newer stuff is really good, not carbon copied, but you can still tell where he came from.

heh heh hell yea Petty has some great tunes...
I don\'t have anything special against this song, I just think RP plays too much Tom Petty. Slow down on the Tom Petty, he\'s not that good.
