Come a little bit closer
Hear what I have to say
Just like children sleepin'
We could dream this night away.

But there's a full moon risin'
Let's go dancin' in the light
We know where the music's playin'
Let's go out and feel the night.

Because I'm still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon.

When we were strangers
I watched you from afar
When we were lovers
I loved you with all my heart.

But now it's gettin' late
And the moon is climbin' high
I want to celebrate
See it shinin' in your eye.

Because I'm still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon.

Let me guess....you have a "let's go Brandon" sticker on the back of your F150.
Everybody mad at Neil Young for being principled and consistent can just stay mad.

10/10 for this on musical merits alone. 11/10 for Neil being generally awesome.

What nature is that?

She'd better run, cuz next thing you know he'll be taking her down by the river...

I take it you can play guitar and harmonica simultaneously too.
this is one of those songs that gets better every time you hear it- there are not many things like that in life- usually we get bored by repetition

I was listening to this concert on cassette (recorded off the radio in 1993) not 10 minutes ago! RP and I are in sync!!!

12 th November - happy birthday Mr Young and thanks for all those beautiful love songs  - long may you run and sing

For me it's not the applause during the song that is annoying as $#%@!, but when they talk incessantly during a concert. Just STFU!

After the concert, I hung with Neil and his family at the Four Seasons hotel. Neil took the time to reconnect with each family member on their level--and there quite a few of them--and even gave me 5 minutes to interview him, which I used for a paper at J school on differential affliction in cerebral palsy. Teacher accused me of making up Neil's quotes--then I showed him the photos I took.

Great story!
OK I know it's gtting late, Neil - this is a great track tp to wake upto on a Sunday morning - actually - listen to any morning, afternoon or evening!

Thank you! I thought I was the only one. There's maybe another one or two I can take but his voice! Hard to handle.

Blues make me happy. I don't understand it.  It just does.  Stop listening? Stop living.
Totally agree ‘peltoq’, ruins my illegal recording EVERYTIME! Those who clap, cheer and whistle mid-way through a live performance should be taken outside and shot. Posted 1 month ago by peltiq

Really? You must be Young... wont finish that thought! I've seen him live many times... ALWAYS left with a smile!  I listen to and play Neil Young on my acoustic 6 and 12!  His drive playing electric inspired me to get a Les Paul by Epiphone...Beautiful song... Love Neil!

.....Same here!
This is such a gorgeous song. So beautiful and heartfelt... an incredible love song when one is decades into a relationship. But I have to wonder what goes through his head now when singing it... does he think of Peggy still, or Darryl? What the hell happened there? I had just finished his autobiography Waging Heavy Peace, where he repeatedly says he never could have done what he's done without her, when I heard the news. I'm still shaking my head.
Fcuking 10
Beautiful version.

In my opinion, the MTV Unplugged performance was one of his very best. Beautiful smooth versions like this, unusual instruments like a pump organ (watch him peddle on Like a Hurricane, and even a broom mic'ed up on Harvest Moon). Great support musicians and vocalists added with the perfect touch. Wonderful performance I highly recommend!
Random thought....damn there were some great Unplugged sessions!
I think Cassandra Wilson takes this song to a whole other level. Sexier, dreamier, more alive and atmospheric....

Ed Sullivan Theatre, NYC 1992.  Shortly before David Letterman took over the theatre.
Danced to this with my daughter at her November wedding 20 years ago. Has a very sentimental meaning to me now.
One of the best songs ever...nothing more to say

I will never forget that performance either. Just him on a folding chair, surrounded by guitars. Stunning.

I bought the CD and was disappointed with the studio version. Oh well.

I absolutely adore this version.  Emphatic 10!

give this tune a rest - seems like I hear it every two days in some form, album version, live version, or am i just hallucinating from all the weed i can get legally now?

Great song, genuinely, I love it, but, seriously, there are other artists that could, would and do deserve as much air-play as you give him.  Oh, and U2, Bob Dylan, Peter Gabriel, etc...  Change the artists, please!
Nice! His only good song. Good to hear.

I love Neil's work for the most part, but his crooning moments sometimes teeter on the edge of silliness:

Kermit the frog playing banjo in a swamp
One of my all time favorite music videos. Will someone PLEASE take me dancing on this Harvest Moon?  {#Yes}
He's playing Boise tonight!
Ah, so sweet, naive and innocent song:-)
I've always been disappointed that his Linc Volt biodiesel electric car malfunctioned on our documentary day here in NYC. Fcuk!  I had a thousand questions for him.   But no car, no shoot, no NY, no Steve Colbert, no Bill O'Reilly (that part I didn't miss so much...).  Neil was a combo of chagrined and really pissed. The electric battery company had just changed ownership from U.S. to China, perhaps the new ones were defective. And there we were, at the corner of 73rd and Park, as he tried to get the electrics turning the engine. One or two bad cells screws up the entire chain, and he was kind of steaming. C'est la vie. So when I hear a Neil song, and read the digs and negs on his voice, I take it just a tiny tad....personally.
Especially on a lovely song like this, which is so atypical of the author of Like a Hurricane, Throw Your Hatred Down, etc.

Well, I guess life is really more complex than a song.
Harvest Moon, especially this version, is a song that will be bring tears to my eyes, remembering 'the' one great love, every time.
great song, from a great artist
Well this sentiment may have been true at the time, but he just left his lovely wife of many years for Daryl Hannah.

So much better than the studio version. Gentle, mellow, just perfect.

First time hearing this version. Most excellent indeed.
I'm not a huge Neil Young fan but I love every single vaguely country sad/happy song on "Harvest Moon".
And I especially love this live rendition of one of those songs - first time I've ever heard it.
Thanks for the variety RP!
Probably my favorite NY song.
