"Floating above you
beyond the naked eye
Blue dreams about you
keep playing in my mind

Oh if I was
Oh if I was your man
Oh if I was
Oh if I was your man

I'm just a satellite
so lazy in the breeze
Ready to fly away, I need your gravity
When I run down the path
the turns look all the same
And if I lose my way
your mind will call my name

Oh if I was
Oh if I was your man
Oh if I was
Oh if I was your man

Let's go outside to a dark place
Where the kitty cat hides
put on your fake wings
give the moon a ride

When you're lonely for the angel inside
3:30 in the morning is too easy for you
But when it comes without a warning
What are you gonna do this time? You gonna do this time?

Floating above you
beyond the naked eye
Blue dreams about you
comes rushing through my mind
Branded with thoughts of you
They're tattooed on my sou;
Why don't they seem to fade
Is what I'll never know

Oh if I was
Oh if I was your man
Oh if I was
Oh if I was your man
Oh if I was
Oh if I was your man "

Sign of the times I guess that a pedant will correct the grammar, but the fact that SHE might be your MAN is just accepted

And, indeed, also such minutiae as spelling.

wind... I saw her with the Dead at Willie Nelson's 4th of July Picnic around Bee Cave/Austin.  It was the only time I've seen her live sad to say.  But she did impress me! Itwas a fantastic show... I believe in '03. They had just played Bonnaroo. Neil Young and Crazy Horse were the headliners the next night!  Quite the 3 day weekend trip!
What if, Joan...
make it stop.

Hell, if she truly wished it, I'd let her be my man. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I always think it's Sioxsie Sioux - her voice is so much like hers on this track.
Love Joan! I remember she the Dead brought her in to tour in 2003, I believe' 1st show the dead did after Jerry passed. Actually, they played Boonaroo then S. Austin for Willie Nelsons 4th of July fest!  Love Her!

Now, I take back everything I may have said about this woman in the past. This is nice, shows off her vocal talents, and if she wrote the song too, then I only have to ask, aren't there more like this? (I mean rather than the overplayed hits)
Anyone else hear Siouxsie and the Banshees?

Don't know about the origin of the melody, but it was also used in this Hindi song from a 1996 Bollywood movie:

ok - I've changed my mind, she can be my man if she wants. . .

Are you sure that this is not Siouxsie??
I never heard this side of Joan before....!
I am happy you included a Sitar in your song. But, next time please write an original melody to play on it.
she sounds good here. still haven't forgotten her mangling of dylan's man in the long black coat...
Joan, you can be my man....
It's been interesting to hear her voice develop over the years. I've always liked it....and this song. Now, back to my shoulder shimmies and veil work.

I can't understand this song, the idea is probably original, but the result is frustrating and bad, the transition between the oriental and western melody is just not working out here, and sounds like cheap pop music, you can't just squeeze some oriental riff in a piece of music like this, and get a way with it. I'd rather listen to Ricky Martin's One Night Man instead.

The minor diminished scale gives it that 'Mid East' sound. Flatten the 7th. Or I may be completely off here.

That first album is an absolute staple. It's weird to me to hear such a rockin' blues singer venture into this realm, but I like it. This isn't her best material by far, but I give it a 7. And with the gender thing... who said she's singing to a dude?

I like Joan, just not this..
joan has stupendous moments, some of her covers are incredible. her singing roy orbison's mean woman blues on austin city limits was a wet dream and her singing motown in the doc about the funk brothers was terriffic. not so sure about the heaviness of the hindi here but she was all over world music for awhile and then toured with the dead, huh?. she is definitely all over the place. still a big fan.

Read this: https://www.radioparadise.com/content.php?name=FAQ And this: https://www.radioparadise.com/content.php?name=Information You basically have two people running a complex business by themselves. That includes maintaining and improving the internet infrastructure, creating playlists, reviewing music, scheduling, dealing with forums, handling financial issues, bookkeeping, and whatever unexpected events may come along. I don't know how many things I left out of this list, but I'm sure there are quite a few. Oh, and I imagine that Bill and Rebecca also need to sleep and maybe occasionally have a free moment for themselves. Lazy? And do as bang up job of running this station as they obviously do? No way, no how.

Maybe the people who operate RP could be forced to work 25/8, never sleep or eat or go to the toilet or leave the house, but could be chained to the computer and forced to continually program music, being fed intravenously and relieved through a catheter. Certainly then they'd be less open to your criticism of shirking. Or maybe they can just ignore you.
This song bugs me...
Still don't get Joan Osborne...

Did she lack the ability to adapt the lyrics according to gender? or did she just lack the time on the drive in to the studio? Maybe she thought nobody'd be listening.
