I said the first thing that came into my head
I said you have a friend in me who knows
That's running's not the same for everyone
'Cause if you stay there has to be someone to hold you
Every day, someone to need you
To make a fire out of the grey confusion
There's nothing on the radio
You've gone as far as you can go
Everywhere is emptiness
And everyone is loneliness
But I'll help you if you want me to
I'll help you if you let me through
I'll be the one you tell
Let it go Polichinelle
Where's the funny girl?
Are you ready to believe it's true
That everything we love we lose?
Only in your mind can you choose
Not to live again
And you could find your smile tomorrow
Remember what was beautiful
Not the dark inventions of your burning sorrow
There's nothing on the radio
You've gone as far as you can go
Everywhere is emptiness
And everyone is loneliness
But I'll help you if you want me to
I'll help you if you let me through
I'll be the one you tell
Let it go Polichinelle
run, abandon your name
The lies, the hurt and the blame
Tonight you're standing on the edge
In hopeless tears that only I can hear
The telephone can't bring you here
I said you have a friend in me who knows
That's running's not the same for everyone
'Cause if you stay there has to be someone to hold you
Every day, someone to need you
To make a fire out of the grey confusion
There's nothing on the radio
You've gone as far as you can go

Pretty sure this is two songs playing at the same time.

The title is correct. "Dark Green" is another track on the same album.
Ok, this doesn't happen to me often, but this song has me bawling my eyes out because it makes me think of the things I'd like to say to my daughter, if her ears were ready to hear them.
And BTW, the name of this song is wrong. This song is called, "Dark Green".

Rufus Buckley?
Travis?

It is a nice groove but also it probably wouldn't take much to coax me into spending the afternoon sipping cocktails on the balcony - if I had a balcony. Oooh, look, a penny! Quickly, to the balcony!!
Nice Groove. Makes me want to spend the afternoon sipping cocktails on the balcony.

Beautiful new album by Emmett Tinley, release Octber 24 2011 in Benelux! www.massmarketrecordings.com
Bumping this for the link to AMG's funniest album review.

Agreed, and not in a bad way ...I then checked out their AMG review.. the first link for the band itself wasn't so bad, but within that review was a hot link to a review of the actual album Polichinelle. The reviewer, Mr. Dean Carlson does not hold back on his hatred for the album.
I mean the guy starts talking about Jeff Buckley and "...worshippers, metaphorically digging up the singer's body and feasting on his yellow, rotten flesh."
Pretty much Mr. Carlson hated this album with a passion.
:D

I'm getting a House Martins vibe myself.

Well, yes. But every now and again cotton candy is really, really good.

Sorry. Usually am in sync with you Bill, but this song has bothered me for a long time; easy to listen to, but in the end easy listening...couldn\'t figure out until tonight who it reminded me of. Then it struck me - the vocals are vintage Marty Balin, right out of the worst of the MOR Jefferson Starship and \"Miracles\".
Thus, a 2. Cotton candy for the ears.

A great CD, and even better live!

Exactly right! Which doesn't work out bad at all in their case.
Bad luck there've been a few too many impersonators of Buckley already and now they've got to take the blame it seems.
But at least this one's a lovely, bitter-sweet song and maybe a bit of a classic, 'cause it's got that sort of quality.I like this tune.. Seems to be a lot of Radiohead/Jeff Buckley/Post-Grunge tunes here and this kind of blends in with the fold. Nice tune to sit around and listen to.
What is surprising is the scathing review on the All Music Guide of this album, Polichinelle. Wow. I think Dean Carlson over at AMG had a bad cup of coffee that morning!
I like it - and don't care a tinker's cuss what AMG says!
Cheers,
Blarg.
This song is kind of nostalgic for me when I first started listening to RP, this was one of the songs that really stood out. I had never heard of this group before, and hearing this on RP made me want to keep on listening especially to find out what other great songs I've been missing. Thanks, B&R, and also to all the RP listeners who've uploaded so many *GREAT* tunes!! :)
I like this song so much I definitely want to check out the rest of this band\'s catalogue. Thanks Bill and Rebecca!

Still one of the best things on Paradise (IMNTHO)
I really enjoy hearing the diversity on RP.
This group is new to me, and quite nice.
Nice stuff from the Old Sod.
