The wind blows rain into my face
The sun glows at the end of the highway
Child of the moon, rub your rainy eyes
Oh, child of the moon
Give me a wide-awake crescent-shaped smile

She shivers, by the light she is hidden
She flickers like a lamp lady vision
Child of the moon, rub your rainy eyes
Oh, child of the moon
Give me a wide-awake crescent-shaped smile

The first car on the foggy road riding
The last star for my lady is pinning
Oh, child of the moon, bid the sun arise
Oh, child of the moon
Give me a misty day, pearly gray, silver, silky faced,
Wide-awake crescent-shaped smile

All the other big tours have cancelled except for these mopes.

Other than that, not a bad tune...

One of the biggest highlights of my COVID years was getting out to a Rolling Stones concert.  You say tom-ay-to, I say to-mat-o.
Wow, just heard the Moody Blues, the Beatles and, of course, the Stones in one song. What a range!
How can you have your pudding if you don't eat yer meat?
(and yes, I know which one came first)
mick will be 80 next wednesday, august 2nd. amazing.
My very first album, older brother gave it to me... Stones fan ever since!
I'm a Beatles fan. (period).
But years ago in a weekend special on a radio station in Holland they alternated Beatles songs with Stones songs. For a whole weekend.
A couple of days later I talked to a friend who was a big Rolling Stones fan and it turned out we had had the same experience:

He had heard unexpectedly brilliant Beatles songs, previously unknown to him (duh). But I had also heard fantastic Stones gems I had never heard before.

This is one of those songs: I don't think it ever hit the charts back in the days, but a solid 9 rating from me now!
GODLIKE!!!  ICONIC!!!

The sound check was 'Going to Kansas City'. Jagger said they played that song in the clubs of London in 1962.
My favorite song was 'Street Fighting Man'. The Stones were so appreciative of the crowd.
One of the best shows I've ever seen. (Saw them in 1981 in Boulder, but don't remember as much of that concert.)

I saw them on their '81 Tattoo You Tour at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Awesome show. The song that intro'ed them was Count Basie's "Take the A Train."
Opening bands were the Fabulous Thunderbirds and ZZ Top. A ticket for down on the field was $9.
This was the B side of 'Satisfaction' on 45 RPM records.  In Canada anyways. Am I showing my age per chance?
{#Devil_pimp}there is no such thing as a bad stone's song / zesty all
...and then every so often there is the tried and true Rolling Stones track played and I must push the FF Button.  I get that the masses love them, but I just never enjoyed their brutal attack on music.  I'm not apologizing as musical taste is subjective and I respect everyone's taste...err...except for RAP, you will have to rot in Hell.  Just kidding! There really isn't a Hell...at least I hope not?

One major difference is that the Beatles could sing.

GREAT Tune.
-
The Stones' 'NO FILTER' TOUR, scheduled for 15 American cities between May 8th and July 9th of 2020 was Postponed, meaning your ticket is good when the shows are rescheduled.
Or, you can take it to any Ticket broker and get at least what you paid for it, (most likely more), Mr. Shut the fuck up Donny.
Hope this helps.
You're Welcome.
No charge.

Yup.  Oddly enough I kinda like this song.
Superb Stones Psychedelia. A revisit to Satanic Majesties Request may be in order. Long Live Brian Jones!
Where else but Radio Paradise would I hear the other side of "Jumpin' Jack Flash" = the first single I ever owned.

When the Rolling Stones thought they ought to be the Beatles.

dee-licious fazed cookie thank you
definitely NOT my favorite Stones song....by a LOOONG shot
{#Ass} ZESTY !
Come on guys ... "its only classic Stones and i like it" - long live psychedelia!
Stones did a lot of copycat stuff in the 60s. Beatles too. If a sound got hot, everyone wanted in! Even the album covers got copied... just check Sgt Peppers & Their Satanic Majesties Request album covers
Never heard this and don't want to again.

Perhaps, but from 1969 to about 1973, they were atop the mountain again - imho.
Sounds like Rain from the Beatles ...
I remember having this on a 45, not bad,

Agreed... to heck with the h8rs. ...and the turkeys, gobblers from the UK and hipsters from Brooklyn.
Even a great band like the Stones produced turkeys, and this one's a gobbler and a half. Still, that's the nature of experimental music, and a mark of their creativity that they were always being innovative. 10 out of 10 for imagination, 2 out of 10 for the result.

You talk about a "deep cut", this thing never really made it on a proper album.  It was the B-side to Jumping Jack Flash, and finally surfaced in the U.S. on the "More Hot Rocks" LP 4 years later.  Yet they somehow made it into a creepy video (or "promo", as they were called 46 YEARS AGO!).

It's pretty BAD!

Ah, that answers a question I had this weekend. I was in a vinyl shop and one of the items on sale was the 45 of this. I remember saying to my partner: "I don't remember this at all."

Definitely attributed to the wrong album—Satanic's is certainly the Stones' most psychedelic album, which I believe was kind of a response to Sgt. Pepper's. I always thought it was a fantastic Stones album, pretty cerebral to say the least. Don't know if it still holds the record, but I believe it was the most expensive album cover in its day.

However, Child of the Moon was never on it. As mentioned previously, Child was first released as a B side. Later, it appeared on the compilation More Hot Rocks. Boy, I wish I kept my vinyl of *that*!

The song can also be found on the obscure Decca import No Stone Unturned:

You can still buy a used copy of the vinyl 45 rpm via Amazon, but it may not have that great cover sleeve.

Can I just speculate, and in no way is this meant to sound like an intervention, but is your hotel room really an outward projection of your mind, and are all the people dancing there different personalities you possess?

That is correct.  The 45 jacket art even showed the Stones from the rear on the B-side .  Kinda cool at the time.

That's gotta be the fuzziest fuzz bass I've ever heard. Maybe even a little moldy.

The Stones were always "evil," weren't they?  Altamont, anyone? {#Twisted}

Yeah, I thought the same thing. It's definitely not on my version (LP) either. This site says it was "Recorded in July & October, 1967. Released as a US B side to the "Jumping Jack Flash" single on May 24, 1968". Sounds about right.

On the other hand, I bought a mint condition copy of this w/ 3d cover at a yard sale for about $2. Really!
heh, you should play my moon my man to round out this set's ode to the Moon
I liked this the first time when it was called "Rain" and The Beatles were singing.

The Stones are just fine but there ain't much they did the Beatles didn't do first (unless you want to count recording a disco album).

This album is pretty much the zenith of their Beatle-copying, ain't it?
I see Ronnie's putting it about again

You too? At the least, I hope there's some dumpster diver who got rich because of dear od mom. And, the song is very, very ordinary - especially for the Stones.

Listen to "She's a RAINBOW" on this album!
The Detroit alt-country group Blanche does a cover of this on their last CD. I prefer it to this version.

Hmmmm . . . I quite liked it.
One of my favorite of the more obscure Stones tunes. (If an "obscure Stones song" isn't an oxymoron.) But this is NOT on "Their Satanic Majesties." It is from the same time period, but was the "B" side of (I think) "Jumpin' Jack Flash" and later turned up on one of the compilations.
Sounds like the "Rain" is coming...
the most under rated Rolling Stones album. Hey everybody if you ever have a long lonely highway ride, listern to this entire cd - it will surprise you. Oh and turn it up LOUD - turn off the car phone and just zone into it
I remember buying the Jumping Jack Flash 45, ummm, a few years ago. This was the B side. Sounded pretty good at the time. I think Charlie Watts was going for a Ringo Starr drumming knockoff here. The record art (sorta like shown on this page) was kinda neat, too. The A side had the front of the guys and the B side had them from the back. FWIW....
this would definately get no airplay at my home

This is why we need RP! No one else does. Not Stones at their best, but good to hear every once and awhile...thanks.

The Stones are one of those special bands where their commercial stuff is also their best stuff. This one isn\'t one of those songs.
THIS is the STONES. Regardless of lyrical content, Great Musicianship.

Love this song, back from when it was only available on More Hot Rocks. On Satanic Majesties, besides the other good recommendations (Rainbow and Light Years), I also recommend \"2000 Man\" - good song, and the lyrics are prescient.
Wow! Their Satanic Majesties is the only Stones work that I have bothered to get in CD so far. This may be one of the only Stones songs I\'d rate above a 5!
