Mama Africa
How are you doing Mama
Mama Africa
Long time me no see you Mama

They took me away from you Mama
Long before I was born
They took me away from you Mama
Long before I came on in

Mama Africa
How are you doing Mama
Mama Africa
Long time me no see you Mama

There's so many things about you
Wondering where you are
They try their best to hide you Mama
But I search and I find you

Mama Africa
How are you doing Mama
Mama Africa
Long time me no see you Mama

In you there's so much beauty
In you there's so much life
In you there's so many kingdoms
To me it's out of sight

Mama Africa
How are you doing Mama
Mama Africa
Long time me no see you Mama

You're the maker of gold Mama
You're the maker of diamond
You're the maker of pearls
And the maker of all precious goals

Mama Africa
How are you doing Mama
Mama Africa
Long time me no see you Mama

I've been waiting, yearning, looking
Searching to find you
I've been crying, praying hoping
That I may find you Mama

Mama Africa
How are you doing Mama
Mama Africa
Long time me no see you Mama
You're my mother Africa
You're my father Africa

Mama Africa
How are you doing Mama
Mama Africa
Long time me no see you Mama
I'm proud of you Mama
I love you Mama
I'm proud of you Mama
I love you heavenly

Mama Africa
How are you doing Mama
Mama Africa
Long time me no see you Mama

The song started, I listened for 5 min. Got bored hearing "Mama Africa, Mama Africa..." repeated a go-zillion times. Went to get a cup of coffee. Came back to the office. This song is STILL playing! And guess what? The singer is still singing "Mama Africa!"

it's less than 4 minutes

GOOD GOD DOES THIS SONG HAVE AN ENDING?!
The only good thing about this tune is that it (finally) had an ending.
Now where is my reefer?
irie irie.....
Mama...make it stop...Mama...Mama...make it stop...Mama...Mama...make it stop...Mama...Mama...make it stop...Mama...Mama...make it stop...Mama...Mama...make it stop...Mama...Mama...make it stop...Mama...
This song is near and dear to me in that I saw Tosh tour this album. I'll never forget. I was up in the nose bleed section at the Santa Barbara County Bowl, and they opened with this song. Peter bopped onstage smoking a spliff that musta been half as long as he was tall! Could see it clearly from the very top rows. Now where's that spliff smoking smiley when I need it?
Three or four minutes I could enjoy this... After 6 it sent me scrambling for the LRC.
I can understand that ppl think this goes on too long, though. There's a shorter 7" version on the Mama Africa album.

True.. it is almost 10 minutes long. Nice tune.. but is too much!

Okay, at first I thought you might be overly harsh and "unenlightened" because this is the first time I had heard this song and I like much of Tosh's work, but now that it's reached its end (finally) I have to admit you were correct in your assessment.
Nice sentiment, decent tune, unbelievably simplistic lyrics.
