And even though the moment passed me by
I still can't turn away
'Cause all the dreams you never thought you'd lose
Got tossed along the way
And letters that you never meant to send
Get lost or thrown away
And now we're grown up orphans
That never knew their names
We don't belong to no one
That's a shame
But if you could hide beside me
Maybe for a while
And I won't tell no one your name
And I won't tell 'em your name
And scars are souvenirs you never lose
The past is never far
Did you lose yourself somewhere out there
Did you get to be a star
And don't it make you sad to know that life
Is more than who we are
We grew up way too fast
And now there's nothing to believe
Reruns all become our history
A tired song keeps playing on a tired radio
And I won't tell no one your name
And I won't tell em' your name
I won't tell em' your name
Mmm, mmm, mmm,
I won't tell 'em your name...ow!
Mmmmmm
I think about you all the time
But I don't need the same
It's lonely where you are; come back down,
And I won't tell 'em your name
I still can't turn away
'Cause all the dreams you never thought you'd lose
Got tossed along the way
And letters that you never meant to send

Never really took notice of this band til I caught this song that hit at a sad time in my life. It has become a very important part of my music collection.

I don't dislike the song, but it can be heard on twenty-eleven different stations at any time of day.
There's just so much other music, including the obscure stuff that RP hasn't added to the roster yet.
So why, really?
I gave it a 6, but it seems out of place here.

"Eclectic" doesn't rule out things because they're popular (even to the point of being overplayed), nor does it mean obscure. In the judgement of Them That Picks The Music, this is good stuff. That's why.
I must not listen to any of those twenty-eleven different stations, 'cause what (non-RP) I do listen to doesn't play this. Maybe you should avoid those too.

Goo Goo Dolls, Toad, Gin Blossoms. All pretty much the same groove. And I like em all.

As an aside, I've never liked much how we refer to that string as the "high E". I think of the words low and high in terms of position first, not pitch. Carry on.
That high E string is like sharp glass in the ears. And not in a good way.

Sucks.
Thanks, Bill. It's good to hear a little mainstream pop now and again. Personally, I think this is a great song to follow Dylan's "Shelter from the Storm." The acoutsic guitar blended nicely.
Please no more Goo Goo Dolls.
This song was on the radio at the start of my first year of university (1995).
Now I'm starting my last year...
Thanks for the reminder, RP.
just like a glass of water...
colorless
odorless
tasteless
Not my favorite song from this group, but I am increasingly becoming a fan. I think Johnny Reznik (sp?) is a pretty talented song writer.
Wow, I'm surprised to hear something this mainstream here, not that I'm complaining, I love the Goo Goo Dolls and this song, but I'm just surprised there's not more comments about how this is already beat to death by Clear Channel.
I for one like it!
but I can't help thinking it'll be the last thing we ever hear from these guys.
HUH...where have you been?
Really excellent Paul Westerberg (Replacements) imitation.
It fools me every time (and I really do enjoy the song). :)
