Drivin' faster in my car
Falling farther from just what we are
Smoke a cigarette and lie some more
These conversations kill
Falling faster in my car

Time to take her home
Her dizzy head is conscience-laden
Time to take a ride
It leaves today no conversation
Time to take her home
Her dizzy head is conscience-laden
Time to wait too long
To wait too long
To wait too long

Too much walkin' shoes worn thin
Too much trippin' and my soul's worn thin
Time to catch a ride
It leaves today, her name is what it means
Too much walkin' shoes worn thin

Time to take her home
Her dizzy head is conscience-laden
Time to take a ride
It leaves today no conversation
Time to take her home
Her dizzy head is conscience-laden
Time to wait too long
To wait too long

In my humble opinion, these bands were the last great thing in rock music (sounds very boomer-ish, sorry)
One of the best rock bands in history, unique sound

That is OK! You didn't get nasty about it, like some RP commenters! ...I personally like them.
I LOVE THIS TUNE!!!

Born in '70, pretty much the exact demographic STP was marketed to. And I loved them anyway. Those who say they were derivative are either buying competitor's hype or not listening close enough!

Wow, what a boring song.

Hello everyone from London!
Hard rock, gunge; STP had a pop sensibility that those categories don't include.

Another of a substantial subgenre of songs in which the title of it is not included in the lyrics. For example: Rainy Day Women 12 & 35.
Love that album. First got it on cassette. It was a Friday evening. There was a company get-together Saturday morning. Put the cassette in, popped the headphones on. I don't remember the get-together.

I was going to play through their albums in sequence today, starting with their first one, "Core"... except the first track was called "Dead & Bloated".  I opted for a different strategy.  Sigh.

And I like STP.  They have a solid body of work, some good range of songs.

But please......

Good analogy, Pearl Jam is Mick Jagger and STP is Keith Richards.
Forget the behavior and drama with this band.....the music they create is powerful, melodic and solid!! {#Clap}
To think these guys get played here more than Soundgarden and Alice in Chains.  A cryin' shame.
Have always enjoyed this song...especially when that chorus kicks in.
I didn't follow this group much when they were current but I've liked what I've heard played here at RP.  This one isn't as good as some of the others but it's still good.
These guys were so amazing it was almost scary...they had a hell of a run there for a while...Core was like, HOLY COW, BATMAN, THIS STUFF IS DYNAMITE! and then this one, with its 12 Gracious Melodies, was part of daily life for a while, even on the other side of The Pacific, and there were a couple songs on From the Vatican Gift Shop that were good...and though their output declined after that, it still amazes me the power — and of course the memories — that jumps out whenever their solid classics get played.  Great to hear on RP!

I know it really didn't fare well with the "classic" crowd, but being a gen-x'er... I dunno. I just like it.

Only members of the "classic" crowd that were so closed mnded they thought anything after - pick a year 1975, 1980, 1985, was crapped compared to the Beatles/Stones/Who/Zep/Floyd whatever.

Guaranteed those folks don't listen to RP - too much here would freak them out.

Us over 50 folks who really understand and care about the music embraced all the good stuff from the 90s like this, the OO's and the 10's as well.

Rock on.

I think they admitted that the riff for Plush was ripped off of Zeppelin. He heard one of their songs from inside the house while he was outside washing his car, so it sounded odd, but it gave him for an idea for a riff that became Plush...

Maybe I'm just getting old, but I've beeen really digging these guys again lately. Of course, I like them pretty good the first time. This was one of my 'summer anthem albums' I played heavily the summer of '95 (along with Weezer's blue album, and Belly's Star)

It is sad isn't it, but some people are so hung up on their self image of being part of some avant garde that knows The True(tm) good music while the masses consume garbage that they end up being controlled by popular opinion. A simple consideration of the past: Elvis: popular Led Zep: popular Jimi Hendrix: popular Pink Floyd: popular and perhaps the biggest most over played popular band ever, The Beatles All quality. All welcome on RP as is the better stuff from STP.

Awesome segue! The intended nexus seems quiet clear: some bluesy acoustic guitar work that picks up Dylan's beat.... Well done!
Sounds a bit like Helmet, which is a compliment.

great song from one of the best albums of the 90's played after one of the best albums of 2006 - Bob Dylans - Modern Times and then he plays - one the best from 1967 Jimi Hendrix -Purple Haze - this station is awesome and now hes play Robin Trower - just great stuff

The best of the STP albums in my opinion! I remember when this was everywhere b/c of its use in the Crow soundtrack, no? Almost every song on this album is excellent.

An astonishingly powerful song that can still rattle the synapses. All praise to the Big Bill at the master panel who has kept the mojo rising almost all the time I've ever been connected. May RP keep its fissile groove, and may I always stay grounded to it! Hark, RobTrow beckons Dance Dance Dance and mine with this in mind goes way past Eleven every time.

and you would never hear a set like this on a clear channel station: Robin Trower - Day of The Eagle Son Volt - Afterglow 61 Stone Temple Pilots - Big Empty Bill is true to the late 60's/early 70's style of progressive radio - selecting songs from differing genres and textures to create an aural cocktail! And he does a great job with it!!

Great tune to be played REAL LOUD!! But does anyone also notice that this isn't a very hi fidelity copy?
Those twangy notes at the beginning of this sound like something from an old Bob Evans commercial. I can't listen to this without thinking of breakfast.
