Big kick, plain scrap
You better shut that trap
Or come and get it.
You kick like a mule.
You eat like a pig.
You drink like a fish.
Oh you're a queer one, baby.
Oh, when you hold me, in the night
On drugs.
You're so nice on drugs.

Big kick, plain scrap
You better cut this crap
Or come and get it.
You monkey around
You playin' with a horse
You fish, of course,
You're a cheap one, baby.

Oh when you kiss me, in the night.
On drugs.
You're so big on drugs.

When you clip me, in the night
Yeah, at the Crest Motel
On drugs.
On drugs.
Drugs, drugs.
So nice on drugs.

Big kick, plain scrap
You better cut this crap
Or come and get it.
You monkey around
You playin' with a horse
You fish, of course,
You're a deep one, baby.

Big kick.
Big kick, plain scrap.

Big kick, big kick, big kick, plain scrap.
When you kiss me,
In the night.

Bill.  I discovered the connection.   Sabre Dance done by Dave Edmunds of the then current "Love Sculpture".   You played Sabre Dance much earlier this afternoon but from 1939.

Good tune.  My favourite from Nick would be Crawling From the Wreckage.

But I think I might be confusing his version with Dave Edmunds.

Never heard this one before - fun little tune.
these guys were just plain FUN...{#Dancingbanana}
Haven't heard this in years.  Thanks, RP.

Let me make sure I've got this straight—bigcat doesn't like cats. Okay, I can dig that.

Mee,too.
Has a funky beat too.
I saw Nick as a warm up act at a concert in the 80's and I can't even remember the head liner. I was front row center stage and at the time I had no idea who Nick Lowe was. In his band was Paul Carrack of Ace and Squeese playing keyboards, they covered some of Paul's tunes from his previous bands, they rocked the house and played this tune. I can remember Nick and Paul but I still don't remember the band afterwards. Perhaps too much smoke and drink.

OK Captain Negative, why don't you and the crew of the SS Crapmeister head back to the ship where you can commiserate amongst yourselves. . .

I'm really surprised at the negative posts and low rating. I love this song and think that this style that Nick was playing with was way ahead of its time. Perhaps, for those hearing it for the first time now it may be off-putting. I dunno, I still dig its bizarre, frenetic playfulness.

{#Yes}
Nick Lowe is soo cool.
I'm gonna give this a 10 just to tick off the naysayers.
Well, maybe an 8.

Me too! I love both songs.

That is a funky beat!  Great drums!

Great guitar sound.
I'd really dislike this song if I didn't know that it was a Nick Lowe track.

Hee hee, I thought from the first few bars that this was Blue Man Group. {#Drummer}{#Drummer}{#Drummer}
......one word Bill, wow.
Nice to hear this again!

I dunno man.  I like drugs, and my sphincter is pretty loose (I just had a monster BM), but musically this doesn't do much for me.

If this was the first time I had ever tuned into RP, I would never tune in again.

Way too much fun! How on earth could this be rated below a 6?? Unpucker your backsides, folks!

All these years I've been waiting for the B 52's to cover Fleetwood Macs, " Tusk," and finally my prayers have been answered! Seriously though, hard to believe Nick Lowe could do something this bad.....
Hahahaha, nice!
Surprised at the low rating here, but this one really is better as part of the album than by itself. Get a copy of Labor of Lust, and give the whole thing (or this side of the LP if its on vinyl) a listen. This one segues nicely into American Squirm, the next cut.

Both albums were released in 1979...

Yeah, only 30+ years worth. ONLY. Stuff that yawn, bright boy. Jerry_Scott wrote:

Nick Lowe has been doing wonderful music way before Beck was able to go PooPoo on his own.
And nary a hit to show for it. Also I don't get the Beck comparisons at all. Not at all.

Hey! I was wondering if anybody but me ever noticed the similarities between this song and Beck's stuff! Now I know. As per the last post.. great segue Bill! Beck- Hell Yes, to Big Kick... neat.

my review changed his overall rating. From 5.8 to 5.7 I feel powerful
I LOVE Nick Lowe. A massively, massively underated talent.
The pre-Beck version of Beck.

Ah Nick Lowe, one of the under appreciated entrants in the 80's British invasion. Elvis's right hand man.

Seamless sigue from Beck - Hell Yes, Bill
Sounds like a drummer beating up Dave Matthews.
I'm not feeling this at all. Hopefully, Nick has some better stuff.

I'd say fire the drummer, but they ain't got anything else going on.

I don't think so. It's a Mickey Jupp song. If it exists in a Nick version, please let me know. Rockpile did back Jupp on a couple of albums and Nick's version of Switchboard Susan came from those sessions, so it's not impossible, but not simple, either.
Very cool instrumentation. Amazing what you can do with bass and drums and about 5 guitar notes.

I\'d love to hear some of the stuff they put out under Dave Edmunds\' name. It was a big part of my late 70\'s and early 80\'s. Feel free to play some and then \"repeat when necessary\"...
Always great to hear from Nick...more is always welcome IMO
Nick Lowe and Dave Edmunds. Underappreciated and underplayed. Along with Little Feat, they were my favorites of the later 70\'s and early 80\'s.
You can never have too much Lowe.
