Same old place, same old city
What can I do? I'm falling in love
I'm just an old hound dog
Roaming around door to door
I've got all this and heaven above

(Chorus)
Oh, Atlanta I hear you callin'
I'm coming back to you one fine day
No need to worry
There ain't no hurry I'm
On my way back to Georgia
On my way back to Georgia

I get a feeling in me
When I remember all those crazy days and crazier nights
Can't you hear the music playing?
You must have heard them saying
"We're gonna rip 'em up and light up the night"

Oh, Atlanta I hear you callin'
I'm coming back to you one fine day
No need to worry
There ain't no hurry 'cause I'm
On my way back to Georgia
On my way back to Georgia

Same old place, same old city
What can I do? I'm falling in love
I'm just an old hound dog
Roaming around Lord, Lord
I've got all this and heaven above

Well she was only 24 at the time. Her voice matured ans well since then. Still sounds a little thin here.
Took me until the end of the song nearly to recall who did this song originally. Little Feat.
I've always heard that as 'Oh, white ladder'

That's some soulful stuff baby!

I find the exact opposite. I imagine her sitting in the studio and reading the lyrics from a sheet of paper without any sign of emotion.
But that's only my impression - which  doesn't mean a lot.
On this album cover Alison looks a little like a young Linda Rondstat.

What a pure austere voice

Pure and austere are not what spring to mind for me - a tad intrusive and sounds sharp without actually being so.
Never heard this before. Thought it was some sort of Dolly Parton experimentation.
What a pure austere voice
On my way back to Jamba Juice?

Nope, this is a cover of a song by Bad Company; it was written by Mick Ralphs.
Oh, Alison.

Wha? Noooooooooo.

Completely different, but both good.
Not my thing at all... but this really rocks.
Very good music.
I love Allison, but the sound is a little harsh on this one.

Agreed - I was shocked when I saw it was her on the playlist. Everyone has a bad day every now and then, guess we should be happy that our bad days are not recorded . . .

maybe a little technical/soulless/Partonish but ya gotta agree, she sure is hitting the notes.  Kind of a boppy little song too.  Not my style though. 6

I'm a fan of A.K.'s work and I know Bill loves interesting covers but this one rates only a 2 / 10 in my opinion.  {#Think}
Yuk...I want my Bad Co...
I like AK, but this sounds a little 'Dolly Parton-ish' to me.

Makes me think of this:

And not in a good way.

You! Out of the gene pool, now!
AKUS are each talented musicians and play well together.  Lots of fun on stage...

Sassy!
Ahhhh! The refreshing and unique sound of Alison Krauss—I highly recommend her concerts if you haven't been to one.
Great talent.
Way too much for monday morning...
Please make it stop....{#Stop} and right around the dinner hour too when I want to hear some good stuff in the background!!

mmmmm....

I haven't had raisin pie for many a year.  I used to love the stuff.
I'm sorry, she's a bore. Dolly's not.
Sorry for the comparison Dolly.
Dolly Parton's long lost sister?

I recently caught a concert of theirs on TV, and remember rocking out to this song then. This is the first time I've heard the studio version, and it's just as good, I'd say. Alison's voice isn't always my cup of tea (give me the original version of "When You Say Nothing At All" by Keith Whitley over her cover), I don't mind it on this song.
Thought I recognized that sticky staccato ooh chills. . .

I hate country and bluegrass, but I love Alison Krauss. This is a bit too bluegrass for me, but I'll put up with it for a bit of that magical voice. RP, get a hold of her "New Favorite" album!
I like 'real' Country, Western, and Bluegrass music: from George Jones and Merle Haggard to Hank Williams and Doc Watson. And I LOVE Alison Krause. Despite being from Nashville, Alison Krauss has carved out a niche somewhere in the middle. Apparently she starred on the Opry stage at TWELVE years old with her fiddle. That's considered by some to be the pinnacle of 'C&W music'. To me, she had nowhere to go but UP. And UP she has gone. She became a producer at something like twenty, with Nickel Creek. She will be a major player (literally and figuratively) for many years to come. Which is a good thing for Country, Western, and Bluegrass lovers everywhere. c.

Sad. This has little to do with C&W. tnt_thomas wrote:

Exactly. I have to say I never would have thought I would hear this anywhere, even on RP, which defines "eclectic". Very nice indeed.
Been in Bombay for four months - headed back home to Atlanta next month.
