Go on to the street to the cars in the pouring rain
Go on to the bus that left us in the dust and the flames
And when the son meets the father
It'll be something smarter for the pain
But you will always be the same
You will always be the same

Go on little girl, feet twirl, go and make him smile
Go on like the rumbling drums of the march of time
And when the son meets the dad
It'll be pretty bad for the pain
But you'll always be the same
You will always be the same
You will always be the same

Go on to the ones with the smoking guns in the heat
Go on to the wars we won, they came home, they made up
And when the father meets the son
And the blood makes us better than the gain
You will always be the same

Ditto. Unless its just my cheap speakers, but I doubt it. Cool handle BTW.
Most of all, ''Demolition'' is possessed by the ghost of Carrie Hamilton, to whom the album is dedicated. The actress and musician (and daughter of Carol Burnett) died of lung cancer in January, at the age of 38, not long after she and Ryan got involved. Album opener ''Nuclear'' is about the moment they met. ''Tomorrow'' was cowritten by the couple. ''Tennessee Sucks'' was an attempt to cheer her up. And the album's closing song is, to borrow a phrase, heartbreaking. ''Jesus, don't touch my baby,'' he sings at the very end. ''She's all I've got.''

Despite the bad boy image (e.g. not taking requests for Summer of 69), Ryan is a prolific songwriter and deep soul. I don't nix Dylan or Springsteen or Elvis Costello for not being able to sing on key. What I want to hear is the grit of the unpolished street poet with a heart bigger than mine and the guts to put it out there. It's real, and unfortunately in this industry that's still novel.
This is not a song. This is a spoken lyric by someone who cannot carry a tune. He does off-key in a newly offensive way to me. Prefer Bob Dylan\'s monotone. This guy may be very sincere, but he could use a voicbox transplant. Somehow pity is my governing reaction. Bill, we *really* need icons to show the shedding of tears--one to show the shedding of slow tears, which I would use for this, and another to show a torrent of weeping. Please consider it. ;< (the closest I can come with punc marks)
