This is an incredible album. Has some strong French pop elements, which may explain whjy certain Americans might not like it. One of the best African pop albums I've heard.

I heard a very old recording of the last living castrato, who died back in the 30's, I think. It was a very strange sounding voice.

Very interesting indeed. Never heard of Oryema. Is he an ex-pat African musician ? The mbira gives a nice Medieval ambiance which I would never have expected against this type of vocal.
