Two black lines streaming out like a guidance line
Put one foot on the road now where the cyborgs are driving
With the WD40 in their veins
The screeching little brakes complain
With the briefcase empty and the holes in my shoes
I try to stay friendly for the sugary abuse
So tell my secretary now to hold on to my calls
I believe i can hear through these walls

Oh please save me, save me from myself
I cant be the only one stuck on the shelf
You said you'd always fall for the underdog

Well I've been dreaming of jetstreams and kicking up dust
A thirty seven thousand fool of wonderlust
And with skyline number 9 ticked off in my mind
Oh can't you hear me screaming out now through the telephone line

Oh please save me, save me from myself
I cant be the only one stuck on the shelf
You said you'd always fall for the underdog
Save me, save me, save me...

I picked up this album plus "Ether Song" in a double set for tuppence ha'penny.  Bargain, 'cos I've enjoyed both.
solid and fine band - great distinctive voice and wonderful guitar solo - lovin this
Really bad solo on acoustic guitar. 5.

When I last drove though Turin, didn`t need no stinkin`brakes.

That'd be smoked herring me thinks.

Didn't Rudyard Kippers write 'Tales Of The Unexpectedly Wide Tie'?

Anyone else think the chorus for this is very similar to that in Pain Killer?

I feel like I can sing it over this one.

I was thinking the same thing. A little derivative of their own stuff....

slippery stuff
Ah the halting problem again.
Love this song and this band, they are very fine live too. Registered just to say that, just a wee bit sad....... :)

Then you Sir are a fine guitarist! Nice solo eh!

A bit of a Stairway to Heaven ripoff, methinks. Still nice, though.

kippers are pickled herring... why would anyone eat Rudyard Kippers for breakfast ?

Kippers ? Kippers ?  What, is that some kind of domestic pet ?

Yep. Probably named Rudyard, too.

Rudyard Kippers (30 December 1865 – 18 January 1936): novelist, poet, and some kind of domestic pet.

Never could stand Supertramp.

Right you are. I've recanted. 7

For me, this is still by far the best album TB's made.

(Why not buy through one of the affiliate links  ?)

Not sure where I found it, but knew it long b4 I met RP.

Is not this their old stuff? There have been at least three albums since this...

serious?! my bad! I meant that i liked the albums "jack in box" and "ether song" better and i really thought this was newer.

This a better CD than the" Dock on Fire" CD.
cool. Liking the guitar "running water" sound. Did someone say this is a man singing?

Diggin' it until the chorus, then, in the words of Randy Jackson, "it got a little pitchy in spots, dog. It was just aaaaaaight for me."

tune do'es rock!!!
'Can we have kippers for breakfast, mummy dear, mummy dear . . .' argh
One of the highlights of 2001. These boys got me through my post-grad studies. Excellent live, too.
You can sing the end of Stairway to Heaven to most of this song. "... and as we drive on down the road..."
Nice pets theme...
ZedLeppelin wrote:
It's the same descending progression (Bm A G) as the end of Stairway (Am G F) - just a higher key. Loads of tunes follow this. Eg (Am G F): All Along The Watchtower, Hurricane...
I was expecting to hear "Gettin' born in the state of Mississippi, Poppa was a copper and her momma was a hippie", myself.

This is one of my anthems!
Kinda reminds me of Styx.

I have touring brakes in my car: 60 to 0 in under 100 feet!
The lead singer is a guy?!
I like the music more than the lyrics... guitar solo has a Spanish feel (?)
That's some tasty guitar work... Do I hear some mandolin in there?
Alright, this sounds nice enough, but that vocalist sounds as much like a lady as Jon Anderson from Yes.
Another album I purchased because of Radio Paradise... thanks RP! This album makes you want to drive along the Pacific Coast Highway at sunset...
Nice song, but the dude sings like a lady!
Underdog (Save Me): There's no need to fear -- Underdog is here!
A unique voice. Thanks for adding TB
wutch the cumershills...
Sounds too much like Summer Rain, though I do like the acoustic guitar break in it.

Exactly... and I've found them to the best tracks on the albums :( Maybe just me... They reminded me of Supergrass in a way, so I was hoping for good albums... Alas...
Sounds like a slowed-down version of Pain Killer.

I'm guessing that occasionally, multiple requests by different listeners can get a song added. Most of the time, however, if Bill or Rebecca doesn't like the song, you won't hear it here. I'm glad to see that they reconsidered on this one, because this song is a great addition :)
