I sucked the moon
I spoke too soon
And how much did it cost?
I was dropped from
Moonbeams
And sailed on shooting stars
Maybe you'll
Be president
But know right from wrong
Or in the flood
You'll build an Ark
And sail us to the moon
Sail us to the moon
Sail us to the moon
Sail us to the moon
I spoke too soon
And how much did it cost?
I was dropped from
Moonbeams
And sailed on shooting stars
Maybe you'll
Be president
But know right from wrong
Or in the flood
You'll build an Ark
And sail us to the moon
Sail us to the moon
Sail us to the moon
Sail us to the moon

this is one Radiohead song I've heard that I like.
dreamy......
I dreamt I was on a ship, floating through space, to the Moon, and this song was playing.
this is the first Radiohead song I've heard that I don't like.

Fine — go listen to Maria Callas. This is rock and roll. They all can't be Freddy Mercury.
Thom is the 5th instrument on every song. Wonderful lyrics but more importantly the mood, the feel, the emotion.
He's a freaking genious musician IMHO.
Yup. And Thom is one helluva great guitar player too! Something I didn't realize until I saw them live. I always assumed Jonny and Ed were doing all the heavy lifting.

Some here would pick apart a bright sunny day in April because it's too bright, too breezy and they don't like the UV exposure.
To each their own, I guess. Personally, I like being musically caught in the rain now and then. Helps cleanse the cultural palate and exposes me to new thoughts and emotions.
And Bill, Radiohead - Sail To The Moon into God is an Astronaut - A Deafening Distance was an excellent old-school progressive radio-type segue. Thanks!
Hauntingly beautiful....
I can understand not being in the mood for something like this if you are not a die-hard Radiohead fan and unfamiliar with it, but music is emotional and perhaps one day, if you were experiencing the emotion are trying to express in this song, you'd relate to it and enjoy it better - as with all music. There is a time and a place for everything. I enjoy the emotional diversity of this station...

Listening to this in headphones is a real treat. There are tons of small production elements you won't hear otherwise.

Radiohead is obviously not a no-talent band, so it's pointless to tear them down like one. It is entirely concievable, however, that one could hate their sound.
Personally, I never liked them... until one day I REALLY liked them.

You've got to be in the right space to listen to some of RH's songs - for instance if I was driving at night in my car I wouldn't want to hear this, but since I'm at work attempting to untangle why a phone trunk is down in Sonoma, then this song fits my mood perfectly.
And I love cilantro
Man is this bleak.

Not bad, but as ever a shame about yer man's hideous whingeing, whiney voice. Wet haddock around the chops time again, I reckon. Radiohead would be fine without that awful high-pitched flat dirge polluting the instrumentals.

Radiohead. the ultimate divider!
Most RH lovers have a long history with the band's music and have grown to love the uniquenes of Thom's voice & styling. We don't want perfect pitch and sugar-sweet tone.
There's something raw & visceral about it.
I LOVE Radiohead, but I ALWAYS skip this song. Not their best. Plodding and tuneless. Usually their melodies are beautiful, not wandering.
I like the overall sound of Radiohead! What I have trouble with is the unsupported (by the breath) vocals. He is out of tune and YES whiney sounding. It doesn't make me dislike the band, just the lead vocals.
I don't like Neil Young's voice, but the music and his message more than make up for his lack of intonation. Same goes for Radiohead IMO.

I agree. Count me as seeing Radiohead as "bar of soap" music. I don't agree with the last sentence though. Just because you play moody music that goes on forever does not mean that you are a genius!! I can't wait until the "rein of Radiohead" is over. :P

Yeah, there is the "whine factor", something the currently-heard Michael Stipe also has to contend with. But some of the musical turns that they accomplish, including a few instances in this song, are rare and beautiful, and make me realize their true talent.

The unfortunate inference from repeat suggestions that Radiohead is somehow trying to nug off Pink Floyd's sound, is that somehow a band of Radiohead's talent would actually aspire to sound like Pink Floyd. Although this is not my favorite Radiohead song, Thom Yorke has more creativity and ability in his nosehairs than Waters and Gilmour combined. Furthermore, please note the lack cheesy saxophone solos in Radiohead's music. Perhaps if I could say the same for Floyd, I would still have listened to them after graduating from high school.
wow, the president of the Radiohead fan club listens to RP!

Hey man. Don't go there. Just because someone is ignorant enough to accuse Radiohead of ripping off Pink Floyd is no reason to slag Floyd. The truth is that Radiohead was influenced by Pink Floyd, just like a ton of other bands that are playing music today. It is a far cry to compare Thom Yorke and David Gilmour or Roger Waters. If all you know about Pink Floyd is saxophone solos, then it is apparent that you haven't really listened to them.
Radiohead and Pink Floyd are two very different bands, that in my opinion are both great.
Some of their tracks are amazing. Then there's this.
I find this song to be absolutely incredible.
It still sucks.

Interesting comment. I like the song and I really think Radiohead are the dogs bollocks... but as this started, I thought, "oh cool, Floyd!"
This would be really good if it were Pink Floyd instead of these posers.
Hey Bill, I'd love to hear "The National Anthem" from Kid A. I didn't like the song when I first heard it, but it quickly became a favorite.

I've seen RH live 10 times, since they opened for REM to a few early comers, now they sell out every venue they play. They are a real band PROGRESIVE for sure. Listen to their first cd Pablo Honey and listen to their current stuff. They are REAL. In fact it's funny that RP.com is playing Pink Floyd after RH, because RH is my generation Floyd. Love both bands.
UK rock/music is so much more advanced than the terrible bands we have in the US.
My favorite band and a wonderful song, and those who say Thom is whiny seem to miss how hauntingly beautiful and moving his voice is. BTW, the comparison to Coldplay is only valid in that Coldplay clearly imitates Radiohead's sound (decently, admittedly) as many bands try to.
This song shows RH's diversity and ablity to creat some great stuff.
Wish this was on the moon. In space, nobody can hear you scream......or listen to this crap.
An incredible track from an incredible album.
Am I the only person who could care less about Radiohead? They're a little tired. A little boring. I will give them credit, they have some good stuff, but I certainly don't revere them the way most people/media do.
And no - Pink Floyd was consistently good.

wouldn't this song sound better if it were played at a faster speed, like an old 78?
