On a cobweb afternoon in a room full of emptiness
By a freeway I confess I was lost in the pages
Of a book full of death
Reading how we'll die alone
And if we're good we'll lay to rest
Anywhere we want to go

In your house I long to be
Room by room patiently
I'll wait for you there like a stone
I'll wait for you there alone

On my deathbed I will pray to the gods and the angels
Like a pagan to anyone who will take me to heaven
To a place I recall
I was there so long ago
The sky was bruised, the wine was bled
And there you led me on

In your house I long to be
Room by room patiently
I'll wait for you there like a stone
I'll wait for you there alone
Alone

And on I read until the day was gone
And I sat in regret of all the things I've done
For all that I've blessed and all that I've wronged
In dreams until my death I will wander on

In your house I long to be
Room by room patiently
I'll wait for you there like a stone
I'll wait for you there alone
Alone
Alone

Say, that guitar player is quite good!  He might make a name for himself some day.
Anybody else think this was Red Hot Chili Peppers?  No....? Just me -- ok then.
this guy has the quintessential rock star voice . . .RIP
i can so relate to these lyrics.

miss you, chris.

Thankfully, I don't have any ( really ! ),
but family members do, and when they hurt,
you hurt along with them.

Don't talk about mental illness. He was tired. Who hasn't been tired?
Just hits me in the heart and gut...the power of guitar, bass, drums and that voice.
Average rating 7.3? RP would respectfully play more alternative music.

+1 to 9, this one grabs me by the blues too!!

The pill pushing doctors definitely didn't help.  I have had bouts of severe depression and suicidal thoughts I can't really pinpoint what helped me ultimately but confiding with my loved ones definitely helped and realizing it just isn't fair to them for me to allow myself to isolate myself and wallow in misery and self pity.  I spent time thinking deeply about things and seeing how life is ludacris and a paradox for everyone.  Ultimately, I think people that are experiencing mental illness need to realize how important it is for them to keep life simple.  And it's not important just for them but for everyone around them.  And pill pushing doctors seem to miss this and therapists that want to dig up the past constantly looking for excuses and explanations don't help either.  Keep it simple stupid.
9 for the voice alone!
GREAT TUNE!!!
that chaotic solo, trademark
Absolutely love this track.

Gone too soon. That man could sing.

I had severe depression for a long time, and after years of trying all sorts of things, high doses of FISH OIL is what seems to have finally saved me from that hell...best wishes.
Always welcome. Please play more of this high quality whingeing (Alice in Chains, Incubus, etc) and less Counting Hooties Natalie Coldplay Dave Mathews. Thank you.  {#Hearteyes}

Excellent - closest thing to Screaming Trees, underrepresented on RP.

Thanks, Bill, for including lyrics with all the songs. That's one of the things I really enjoy about RP.
To the listener who didn't come to RP for this — I hope "Play Something Different" (PSD) option worked for you.
There's lots to like here.  Corporate radio abandoned quality for "focus group mix" so long ago.
It's really nice there are still a few places where  it's all about the music (at least in one man's mind).

I fear making this comment due to the fact that I will be condemned by those RP holier than though folks that NEVER listen to commercial radio, but RP SHOULD play the good tunes from commercial radio in order to maintain relevance to what is going on in the world and in order not to ignore the music that is good that gets played there. Boycotting all music played on commercial radio would violate what I am gleaning is the purpose of RP — to play diverse music from diverse sources and not deny accessibility to any good music. There. Let my stoning commence for uttering such blasphemy!

I agree with that, but I don't think that RP selects songs on that basis.  The fact that you actually think there is such a think as commercial music I would dispute however.  Why does everyone want to make things so complicated?  There is good music, and there is music that is not so good, or just bad.   It is different for different people.  What sells well is not a criteria that anyone should worry about.  It's not really worth discussing even.  Enough.  This horse has been beaten to death.
Yes it is! Great song/energy!
Agreed.  A classic in the best sense.

They released a third album, "Revelations", but as you said, they kind of fell off a bit. They were a good group that was probably best kept short lived, unfortunately.
