Matthews Southern Comfort — Woodstock
I came upon a child of God
He was walking along the road
When I asked him, where are you going?
This he told me
I'm going down to Yasgur's farm
Think I'll join a rock and roll band
I'll camp out on the land
I'll try and set my soul free
We are stardust, we are golden
And we've got to get ourselves back to the garden
Then can I walk beside you
I have come here to lose the smog
And I feel just like a cog
In something turning
Well maybe it's the time of year
Or maybe it's the time of man
And I don't know who I am
But life's for learning
We are stardust, we are golden
And we've got to get ourselves back to the garden
By the time I got to Woodstock
They were half a million strong
Everywhere there were songs
And celebration
And I dreamed I saw the bombers
Riding shotgun in the sky
Turning into butterflies
Above our nation
We are stardust, we are golden
And we've got to get ourselves back to the garden
We are stardust, we are golden
And we've got to get ourselves back to the garden
We are stardust, we are golden
And we've got to get ourselves back to the garden

Always liked this. Ian Matthews is excellent.
Joni Mitchell wrote this song. And butchered it. Just like she did with "This Flight Tonight".
CSNY was next. They tried. It was OK, I would give it a 6.
Matthews Southern Comfort (Ian Matthews) then took a run at it. Smooooooooth perfection.

This needs to go Bill ! Check the ratings
For those of us too young to be buying CSNY albums in the early 70's, this was the version of the song that got radio play. Now that I know better, it's a lousy version. But it brings back nice memories.
I smell Pot!

I would highly recommend Iain Matthews' solo work (one of my favorites). Iain was at one time also a member of Fairport Convention.

This sounds like they spent a lot of time listening to the Dead's "Blues for Allah" album right before they went into the studio. But not in a very interesting way. They've not really added anything to this song. It does seem clear that these guys have some talent, I wouldn't mind hearing something else by them.
This is on the weak side.
Great tune, but lamely done here.

You just have to have a lot more to offer to dare covering a CSNY classic...These dudes ain't cutting it !!!
Couldn't of said it better myself! :(

One of my favorite songs butchered.
CSNY was a cover, as is this one.
