Oh Dear, Guys ( it's always guys). Relax, Phil Collins was very nice to my daughter when she went to Ghana to help in a clinic. Sent her money after she wrote him a letter. Apart from that he was really good in Brand X - but that was jazzy stuff so you may hate him for that as well

Anyone remember the eighties?  Yep.  Raising kids.  Remember it well; not many intoxicants during that period.

That was when we all thought that Phil Collins was the talented guy that left Genesis.  Depends on your definition of "talent".  Some of us thought Mr. Gabriel's departure as such.   Agreed.  I and everyone I knew always thought of Gabriel as true genuis

Go on, admit it, you KNOW you did!   Mr. Collins' music was included in a lot of movies, and did seem to be everywhere on Miami Vice.  Or was that the '90s?  In fact, that's why they hosted it on Miami Vice; the music was so awful it was a crime unto itself...
Not criticizing, just saying I have a differing opinion.

Phil Collins: Don't forget, he had to make up the name "Susudio" because he couldn't find any other word to rhyme.  Typical for his mediocre, banal lyrics (and compositions, for that matter).  I think that song appeared on that mess called "No Talent Required"....

Hah! not at all. Certain people continue to hold a place in your heart no matter how much time passes. PG is definitely one for me along with David Attenborough and Doctor Who. PG was part of my musical awakening (if you can call it such) in the early 80's.

OVO is almost a masterpiece. Some of the music is amongst PG's best and extremely powerful. However the premise is/was odd and some of the poetry is decidedly clunky and a bit sixth form.

Interesting track.  It'd originally been on OVO, the music he'd written for the Millennium Show.  The same album had "Father and Son" and "Downside Up", which he now plays live pretty regularly.  You can find for info at the OVO wiki page.  If you haven't heard the album, it's worth exploring!

This guy is just pure, walking genius. I know a lot of his music, but hadn't heard (or maybe remembered) this. It's one of those many RP tunes that plays and I have to stop what I'm doing and find out the title/artist/album. But I'm probably the ONLY one that EVER does that. Thanks, Bill & Bec!

Loved this tune the first time I heard it in the movie 'Red Planet.' That's the meanest, nastiest groove and I love it. I agree with the folks who could be fooled into think Jeff Beck was cooking up some more noise. Glad to hear it on RP!

This is actually off PG's "Ovo" album, the soundtrack for an amazing Cirque de Soleil-esque acrobatic show performed in London's Millennium Dome, often hundreds of feet above the floor. A truly amazing experience, seeing the amazing acrobats and hearing PG through a million-dollar sound system.

Right for the fools who would rather slag PG off. Grow up learn what real music is. Get a life... The tower that ate people is called that because the original version of this track is part of the OVO mellenium exsperience album he did for the Mellenium dome show in london. The tower was part of the show. So there is a reason behind the name.

huh... I certainly never thought of Peter Gabriel as 'formulaic'... Lamb Lies Down, Security, Passion... the guys been pretty far out on 'the edge' most of his life. I guess if you've only heard 'So'... or the 'Babe' soundtrack, this might strike you as a bit different.

PG is just dandy overall. He did this at his show here in Toronto about two years ago. We bought the authorized bootleg (he sold double CD burns made off the soundboard for each of his concerns that tour). On it he talks about writing this song for what he called a children's show. Perhaps that was before the Ovo show at the Dome...
