Existem muitas exceções,  não apenas algumas. Mas o que toca nas rádios brasileiras é só puro lixo.
This band is unreal live.  Tight, perfect and wonderful.

Some alien music would be nice for a change.

Oh, really? The things I learn from RP.
Crosseyed and Painless?
Sweet. Catchy.  Big thumbs-up this morning.
Who woulda thought this mix would of worked . It all fits together so sweet don't it ?
Great band live too

Marvelous!
Not my favourite but love the beat!

It's porridge oats in Scotland, pal, and if the AfroCelts are porridge then it's heavily spiced with African and Indian flavours. This is not my favourite track but is still enjoyable, and a decent example of the multicultural mélange that characterises ACSS. It's an unusual track for them as the singing's in English, rather than Irish or Scots Gaelic.

For those who like a bit more afro with their celt, their latest album, Source, is enormously recommended by the Nottingham (leth-Shasannach, leth-Eireannach) jury, a solid 10.

Thanks for the recommendation
I'm really starting to like this band.

Please play more.
 zeus wrote:
Nice... Love the flute bit near the end :o Too much "snow-falls" for Afro... maybe its the celt part singing that.

Not a flute. It’s an irish low whistle. Bass version of a penny whistle, if you like. Looks like a chrome exhaust pipe and is an impressive sight to watch being played like this.

Nunca mais, nunca mais...
What kinda instrumental is this song if it has lyrics?
Aural oatmeal. Oatmeal is nice, but very plain, without additives, and can get boring in short order.

So 2003! Are those Bebel Gilberto and Ivan Lins? Boa Musica! Chin-chin! {#Cheers}
Sweet and lovely!

Thank you Radio Paradise..... for opening my ears so so many artists that are new to me....

Sweet, portuguese sound. Looks like Vanessa da Mata, but is Nina Miranda.

How about someone who attacks another over something as subjective as their taste in vocalists?  If you don't like them, don't listen to them.  But don't attack people that do like them.  It just makes you look like an asshole.

I can't stand Elvis Costello, but I don't think that gives me the right to insinuate anything about you, even if you do make it easy.

I think it deliberately has that trip-hop, background-sound element to it.  There are more than enough things in life which demand my attention - music need not be one of them.  It works as "aural wallpaper".

Weak as either a celtic or african inspired track.

Aided by nearly two dozen guest musicians, this effort from the Afrocelts (aka the Afro-Celt Sound System) veers off in a slightly different direction from previous releases. Still present are the multi-culti layers of sound, the club-friendly beats, and the ethereal vocalists. What's missing is some of the hyper-kinetic energy and heavy drum presence that helped the first few Afro-Celt releases grab their audiences; in their place is a gentler, more soothing feel. Fiddler Eileen Ivers and flamenco guitarist Jesse Cook both make major contributions to the colorations of this new sound, while never quite upstaging the core bandmembers.

I hear some Portuguese, probably Brazilian, singing "Nunca mais" (Nevermore, in English). But I didn't find the lyrics.
Who is the female voice?
This album has some Enigma production qualities in terms of anticipation tracks, peaks and valleys, reprises and build-ups.  Still not sure if it's better than #2, but we'll see.  Just picked it up on Amazon.
what was once fresh and new is now old and rotted. . . .

KICK ASS!
Well, not that much, but just wanted to respond to SUCK!
SUCK!
Nice aural wallpaper. Not much here that demands my attention. Reminds me of some "New Gold Dream"- era Simple Minds but less compelling.
fuzak yes, but i like it too. it's magically delicious!
Thanks to RP for letting me expand my musical horizons, been loving this album eversince first hearing it here.
I've always liked these guys but the vocals on this one are quite a departure for them.
Not my thing at all.
i liked it...my bf thought it was sting...and i said nah, it sounds a little like him but it's not.

A little Sade-sounding too...
A term coined by slothful little minds that jump to snap judgements and can't be bothered to actually explore the repertoire of an artist. Its a shame that AfroCelts' first, astonishingly good album doesn't get airplay here. It will make you realize how strong their multicultural credentials really are. Whirlpool wrote:

What's A Fuzak?
It used to be a disdainful term for jazz-rock fusion which had been homogenized to the point of no discernible personality, but I guess it's now applied in the same vein to any fusion of musical styles. I wouldn't quite describe this as faceless fuzak, but it's really nothing to get terribly excited about either.
WOW! Not too many people like this song...I like it and I think the guy does sound a little like sting.
Agreed. Couldn't they cram a few more gratuitous cultural references in there?

I bought the CD, I really like these guys...
I would travel to the top of a mountain, the bottom of the desert, if this male singer were there -

Sting? He sounds nothing like Sting! The guy from Soft Cell, maybe...
This song so gets a big Guh.
Sounds like the Shamen + the Girl from Orbital "Are we here." Not sure... the male voice sounds very ordinary. Ok. I'll give it a 5 :)
I think that what is often overlooked (perhaps because of the dominating rhythm and melody) is the quality of the vocals - and especially so in this song.
it's okay, but I wouldn't miss it if I didn't hear it again.
I still turn it up.....
I'm wondering if YOU have a pulse if you can't hear what's in this tune. I dare say I trust Bill's opinion on New Age schlock, and this ain't it. And while I'm at it, AfroCelts kick Pixies' butts! foppy-knight wrote:

DREADFUL, DULL, CELTIC FUZAK
Not the best tune on the album, but still good.
First time hearing this, but I like it. That wonderful segue from Be Good Tanyas into this really set it up nicely.

wow, all the annoyance of my local new age shop without the travel time! :?

No no, a very valid criticism. I would love to see 3/4 of current music disappear.
I thought this was a new Sting tune. Is that Sting singing?
The female singer sounds like Smoke City's Nina Miranda - anyone know?
Let's see do I love it or hate it? Sounds like Conjure One a slight bit......I like.

Well I think it's quite nice. Cheerful at least.

The above statement is just a shortcut to thinking.
Love that Neo Wall-of-Sound production. (No, I don't mean the guy from the Matrix has taken over for Phil Spector...)

Hmm...I counted three Irish-born and two Africans (in addition to an Englishman with Kenyan parents) in the band. You're right. These guys are so fake. So...why are they so good?
:sunny.gif: Mmmmm! Nice way to get up and going this morning! :goodvibes.gif:
not for me.
The entire disc is a treat!!
Heard it first tonight.. Nevermore.. great thing really like it.

I find myself in a position liking anything PG has been , even remotely associated with. Brings it class. 7.
Nice... Love the flute bit near the end :o Too much "snow-falls" for Afro... maybe its the celt part singing that.
Platypus wrote:

You might not feel this way if you had ever seen them perform live. I saw them last year touring in support of "Seed", with the same line-up. Actually less reliance on synthesizers and production on this album than in some of the earlier ones.Absolutely incredible show, full of energy and passion as well as moments of lyrical sublimity, especially featuring flute. Johnny Kalsi, the lone Indian musician, puts on a particularly incredible live performance, dancing his dhol drum all over the stage. His "drum duel", India/Africa, with Moussa Sissokho on djembe was alone worth the proverbial price of admission. downbylaw wrote:

Well you'd lose that bet. You can't have bothered to look into the line up.

Mixed feeling. I realy like the music, but I don't like the (male) voice. Can we get this song without voice?
Glad to see Bill exploring different AfroCelts cuts. Love the featured pipes against the vocal and percussion.
I'm not that much into modern dance music, but there's quite a lot of this band, I happen to like, so far. Maybe even more, now I found out that one of its main members, Jo Bruce (keyboards/programming), is a son of my old hero, Jack Bruce.
The male vocals remind me of Sting. Nice song.
