Pure The Police. I think they should be arrested!

A bunch of humble, down to earth guys. They bought me a beer at Summerfest when I told them I was mad that they didn't play this song at the show! This is my favorite tune by them.

Cool.  I like this.  Have heard and enjoyed it many times on RP.

Fever Tree.....WOW! Saw them backing up Spirit at Detroit's Grande Ballroom back in the Pleistocene era.

I'm going to upload San Francisco Girls.

You and I seem to have had a lot of the same formative musical experiences.  I'm guessin it's the Michigan/SW Ontario proximity.

My hypothesis is that if you're from that part of the world you're gonna love Grand Funk, Alice Cooper, and Bob Seger, even if yer not sure why.

The Samples are so cheerful and infectious. They had a following that paralleled Dave Matthews Band followers in the 90s. Anyone have any recent word on this band?
I can hear chunks of Men at Work in there.
Live several others I dig the EBow, the tune is a bit too repetitive though.

Haven't heard this one from them. Not them at their best as far as I am concerned. How 'bout playing "Buffalo herds and Windmills"? I LOVE that song.
I love the Samples. It might have something to do with listening while in the mountains!

Do folks like Eno, Cale and King Crimson use e bow? (I'm not familiar with it, but I think I hear the sound you're talking about — bowed guitar?)

The EBow is a little hand-held, battery powered device which creates an electromagnetic force that causes a guitar string to vibrate, instead of the usual strumming or plucking. Informative but typically scattered Wikipedia article here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-Bow

This number sounds just like Men at Work, which IMO is not a good thing.

Best band to come out of Boulder, Colorado IMO. They started out doing Police covers and originals that sounded just like the Police. Then at some point, they really got good on their instruments, and started adding some jazz improv to their songs and took off to a whole other high level of composition and musicianship. Nice guys too, and their lyrics are spiritual and environmentalist. Good music you can sway dance to, and bliss out on, and subtle enough to keep your attention.
That's very interesting. I was about to say it reminded me of a Stewart Copeland solo record I have. Neat tune...gave it a 7.

I think the wrong band got famous.

It has an REM feel to it, with a little Fripp thrown in at the end. Me likey.
I dig the e-bow.

Ah, yes ... the good ol' East-West Transcendental Spark & Cinder Band.
The Samples have a lot of very good Neil Young covers on archive.org, if anyone's interested. 'Like a Hurricane' comes to mind.
I'm certainly diggin' this.........
Somebody throw some water on that fretboard! He's burning it up!
sounds like a bar band
A bit of Seal?

I dig that. My rating goes up one.
Guitar sustain ---> San Francisco Girls by Fever Tree.
Pffioooouuu... shallow, empty... boring!
fortunately it's a short walk to the 'mute' button here @ Alpha Centari...... =;

those guys have something special. I'am about to buy one of their CD. Would be the first for years !
So, hop the bus; yer borin' me.
Well worth turning up loud!

This song is just incredible. Such a light sound but so full at the same time. I even found out that they have a few songs you can download for free from their site, including this one!!!

Yes, and as mentioned, with Stewart Copeland on vocals.
Well, no wonder I like it. I had a huge crush on him 20 years ago. ... When I was 9, of course!!!
Adding to the VT / CO thing: The current version of the Samples (the only original member left is Sean Kelly) is actually back in Vermont and have been for a few years. Also, for those of you who like these guys, Sean acoustic has always been one of my favorite incarnations of their music, so I recommend the CD / DVD "Seventeen" for anyone interested....
a lil too repetative for me.. does he ever make it home? :-k
the other ones are complete bullsh*t... redeyespy wrote:

I guess you can hear why I uploaded three samples tunes over two years ago! The best band that never made it big (much to their own disappointment, I think...)
i'm hearing men at work more than the police - but indeed nostalgic

Check out "No Room" for more of the Police sound..."The Last Drag" for some wonderful folk rock.

I had a long walk home from school when I was a kid, 482 miles in the snow with no shoes
you know, i wasn't a huge fan of this song at first...but i must say i'm really beginning to love it.
Why do I love this song so much? I can't quite put my finger on it, but its something, and its there, and this song has it.

If you know anything about the Samples--they formed in Vermont--Three of the original band members are from VT--they moved to CO shortly after their first album.

The Samples started out in Burlington, VT before moving to Boulder. So Vermont fans consider them a local band same as those folks from Colorado. And regarding this song, really not one of my favorites (or close to it), but still it's always great to hear The Samples.

Wow, you must have some ears.
Keep it down, Mack. In Mayfair it sounds like you're screeming! I can barely hear those faint echos from a long lost, long loved group....Sting with his REAL band.

I'm guessing timbiosis, like me, thought this was Phish...especially with the repetition. Song's decent.

OK already. Personally, I'd not heard of them. I'm liking what I hear here though and I see it's a recent album.
Check their website for their first few albums--The Samples, Underwater People, No Room--Unbelievable albums---Miles beyond this bunk.

I like this more and more, especially the guitar work.
Stick to the old stuff where the Samples are concerned.
It feels like flying ! More of them please
It has a really pleasant sound to it, but I had to check the ticker to be sure it wasn't an old Police song. The voices and instrumentation were so close....
They haven't put out a good album in years. Decade?
I'm not sure, but I think he might be implying it is a long walk home....... just a CRAZY guess! Meandering song....... lasting forever...... going nowhere...... urge to kill someone rising! Ahhhhh..... song is fading..... urge to kill diminishing......
Washed down White Reggae ala Men at work...What is so great about it?
Culture Club, Ft Lauderdale.....6/10/04!! Woohoo!!
Awesome More Samples!!!!!!!!! I wish that some old stuff (Feel us shaking, waited up) would some play here though, instead of some of the other Samples that they play..........

Had to check. I thought this was Jefferson Starship.
My thoughts exactly. Sounds like something off of Blows Against the Empire or something around that time.
Hmmmm.... I'd really like to hear more from these guys; their reviews on Amazon are glowing. This is like alt-reggae/dub with some edge. A very good song from a band that appears to have endured for quite a long time. I'm going to look more into them.
Will this superrepetitious boring boring song ever end? Is it for toking to or something? Give me some CONTENT. How many times must we listen to the same phrase? I think I lost count at 50.
This is a really great song... sounds a lot like their first album!
Saw them recently and they were GREAT... so much BETTER than this studio work. Darn!
This band is so good it has to be high in carbs
Had to check. I thought this was Jefferson Starship.
I second that request. I've been waiting for this new cd for quite some time and am very glad to see this song on RP!
OH new music! I would LOVE to hear this one!
