I forgot what my father said
I forgot what he said
I forgot what my mother said
As we lay upon your bed

A city full of flowers
A city full of rain

I got seven days to live my life
Or seven ways to die

I forgot what my brother said
I forgot what he said
I don't regret anything at all
I remember how we wept

On a bridge of violent people
I was small enough to cry
I got seven days to live my life
Or seven ways to die

Hold my face before you
Still my trembling heart
Seven days to live my life
Or seven ways to die

The gods forgot they made me
So I forget them too
I listen to the shadows
I play among their graves

My heart was never broken
My patience never tried
I got seven days to live my life
Or seven ways to die

Seven days to live my life
Or seven ways to die

Seven

at times...this sounds like warren z
Cancer song rather than cancer story.  Fuck cancer.
This reminds me of his '72 song where he says, "The news had just come over...the news guy wept and told us...Earth was really dying...Five years, we've got five years..." yet it's a new composition. DB's songs lit up my teen and college years like few others; to me, his music makes him as close to immortal as a modern man can be../
Wait, what? 12 string acoustic with Bowie? I’m in. The lyrics… could be a James Bond theme for “7 days to die”.

Law of Seven
Never heared this song from Bowie before. It is really nice and smooth, like it. Hidden jewel
This is really nice...
I have never heard this before but I like it.  A welcome break from all the usual Bowie hits we've heard ad nauseum

Peace and Love
I've never paid so much for a cd.
Thanks for yet another introduction Bill !
Think I gotta give this a bump. 7 > 8.  Quite a nice combo of voice, band and quiet, thoughtful passion.
Thank you very much for playing this, Bill and Rebecca. David Bowie means so much to me, he was such a lovely man as well as being an absolute genius. Hope to hear more of his later work soon. Thanks again.

originally from 'Hours'?
Bill, i am so proud of you for embracing "later Bowie"! There is so much amazing, unrecognized, underrated material!
 Yes, Yes  I am!

Listened to an excellent BBC radio production about Mick Ronson focussed largely on his work with Bowie just a night or two ago.  Was a great little show.

The guitar part was written by the wonderful Reeves Gabrels, who co-wrote the song (and many if not most of the songs on the albums 'Outside', 'Earthing', and 'Hours').  You might also remember him from Tin Machine.

However, according to these credits, the guitarist on this live version is Earl Slick.

cool, hey thanks secretsauce for the great background info   (Bowie rocks)
I have never heard this song before; live or studio.  It starts well, but ... loses a bit as it goes along.
If this weren't in his later period it would likely have been for "classic".

I'll give this one a 7. {#Bananapiano} I'm not even gonna scroll down to see if anyone else said the same thing. Loves Bowie!
I am in love with David Bowie! Always have been.  Met him when I was 17!
This is one of Bowie's 'late career' songs, and it's already 12 years old!  The song is still fresh, and I still get goosebumps from it.
I'm secure enough in my masculinity to admit this....
I'm completely heterosexual, except for an unhealthy fixation on David Bowie

Amazing.  Just amazing.
David Bowie playing and singing straight. That's pretty unusual in itself, that he's not doing something unusual and quirky. Which makes a nice change, for all that I like his 'idiosyncracies'. Had I not seen the song listing I'd never have guessed it was himself. 7 from the Nottingham jury.

love this   {#Kiss}
nice......!
Sucko-Barfo.
God when I die I hope I can listen to David Bowie sing to me.  He really touches my soul.  Not sure how it happens but what beauty.
