The hangman's in the noose,
The prisoner is loose,
The wheel has come around,
And the velvet curtain coming down.
And I left it there,
A suitcase on a chair.
I feel my weight
And something tells me
There's a river underground,
In a place where there's no one to be found.
And no one came to see
The oldest show in town
And no one came to see
The oldest show in town
And no one came to see
The oldest show in town
Santa's on the cross.
Innocence is lost.
The music's in your mind,
And the windscreen wipers move in time.
No one came to see
The oldest show in town
No one came to see
The oldest show in town
And the stranger was a ghost
The killer was a priest
Took the first excuse
Made the madness seem cute lipped
On your own you'll find your own escape
There are many ways to choose
And I don't know which one you should take
A home is all you want
On the back of a truck driving down the street
It doesn't seem so much
But it's all you need to make your life complete
No one came to see
The oldest show in town
No one came to see
The oldest show in town
No one came to see
The oldest show in town
No one came to see
I lean the slightest bit towards you
White turns into brown, light goes to black
Your eyes danced in my reflection
And the horse ate my trousers
The prisoner is loose,
The wheel has come around,
And the velvet curtain coming down.
And I left it there,
A suitcase on a chair.
I feel my weight

Finally got a chance to see Neil Finn with Crowded house in Tilburg, The Netherlands, a couple of weeks ago. Brilliant show and outstanding musical legacy
Yeah. Me likey! He’s got a great sense of “The Hook.” 👍🏼👍🏼❤️
Wow this is cool.
At first I thought I was listening to a random side project of Steven Wilson.
I'll need to dive deeper in his discography.

I’m trying to figure out if this is about Catholicism and religion or prostitution.

wow. this one passed me by. it's quite different from what i "expect" when hearing finn. i like it, though!
Such a pop song crafter the likes of which this world sees infrequently... Prince is there and not many others.

I remember buying this CD new at a music shop in Kanazawa, not knowing quite what to expect, but knowing it would be good. Indeed
YES!! Happy New Years Bill...thanks for a year of great music!!!
I find myself wanting to chant "hootie hoo"
A bit of a typo here: it's Whistling not Whisting.
Nice! So effortless and cerebral.
Mighty tasty!
Incredible album - for pro's!
Poetry, beautiful.

It looks like too long since someone confirmed how DELICIOUS this thing is...(and indeed, I think that the whole album is a masterpiece; and I especially dig Sinner and Loose Tongue)...Thanks, Neil and RP!
whole CD is quite excellent!

Some of the most enlightening comments I've read, in the category of your collective visceral reaction to a song. Not a lot of over analysis, just a consensus that this song gets into you as you get into it.

I love all things Finn but this cd left me cold when I first bought it. I put it away until last year, can't remember what made me listen again. But suddenly all the songs just opened up and I haven't been able to stop listening to it since. It's beautifully crafted, intelligent music with a few moments so completely gorgeous it almost hurts your heart to listen. I guess I just wasn't mature enough to appreciate it the first time around. Or something like that

This entire album is stellar. Wish there were more of it on RP (my other TWT uploads notwithstanding).

I've got some open slots - I think I'll ask for a poke in the eye with a sharp stick and upload "Sinner" again...
I'm not sure what I think of this one, but the title is damn cool.
His voice reminds of the lead singer Kevin from Better than Ezra, which is a good thing.
great song.
Big Dark & Creepy!
I love the bass, especially at the very end...
"the only show in town"
rp and neil, awesome

Maybe it will do better than the other song from the same album I uploaded earlier this morning, Astro, which was immediately sorried.

Downright spooky... like the rest of this album...
LOVE IT!
past three songs are all new to me and all got 8's good set
I think this song is Godlike - the master pop tunesmith tries his hand at eclectic - and pulls it off very well!

Nil Fun rocks. Again.

Tho I enjoy most all he's created over the years, this song along with most of this disk stands out for me. More experimental, less pop.

Damn - just got in and saw I missed this one - I love this entire album!
awesome awesome awesome!
this is my favorite album. still is even after listening to it approximately 30 times this past weekend (I was on holiday in Boston and was sharing a hotel room with a friend who snores louder than any human in recorded history...I put my headphones on, put in this CD, and hit repeat...for three nights straight...still didn't get much sleep but this is a perfect album for late-night/early-morning listening).

It's nice to hear some newer Finn music. Encore.
There hasn't been that much music that I have totally fallen in love with over the last decade (I must be getting old!) This CD is one of the exceptions. I can listen to it over and over and not get tired of it. One of the reasons I love RP is how often they play Neil Finn and his former incarnations. Thank you thank you for loving Neil as much as I do!
Finn is brilliant. Gonna see him & his brother next week here in Austin. Can't wait.
If you are wondering about what Neil Finn album to buy, get this one...Try Whistling This. Genius.
