I remember him opening up for his brother. Stevie was backstage playing backup lead...I thought that was kind of funny...this is your basic boring blues...sometimes you got it and sometimes you don't...he definately doesn't
Sorry you don't have it. Jimmy definitely does. This admittedly is not the best Jimmy but rest assured Stevie was not playing "back up" lead guitar. He probably just couldn't stand not being on stage with Jimmy. As stated below Jimmy is not flash, but has developed his own style that is much cooler and laid back than little bro could ever be. It should be remembered as well that Jimmy never sang until Family Style and then the solo albums after the death of Stevie.

Yup. Wouldn't be able to get money on a street corner if it wasn't for his brother.
*Yawn*
I hear Miss Lou Ann Barton wailing on this one...sounds like classic Jimmie Vaughn. Hot muggy Austin nights at The Continental Club and Antoines...
I have this CD. Bought it after his other, Strange Pleasure. I was a little dissapointed with this one - although still listenable. Really liked Strange Pleasure.
This is one of the stand-out tunes on the CD.
Hehehe, pretend blues.

Er, somewhat like "Banana Boat Song"?
Just wondering.
Touche'.

It is so hilarious that people actually sing like this outside of comedies (and that people listen to it seriously).
Shut up, idiot monkey. It is so funny that people think like you, outside of comedies.

I take it then, your not listening seriously?
Why waste your time like that?
On a serious note; every time I hear this I
check the list to see who it is thinking it's
Steve Winwood doing a duet I've never heard.

Damn! Was on the phone when this song came on. I never heard it before and love Jimmie's stuff. Can't wait to hear it again.
Caught it this time-well worth the wait! Thanks RP.
His voice sounds somewhat like Robert Cray's (Less slick). A fine, pure blues take and indeed a "fat" guitar tone!
Jimmie doesn't get the credit he deserves, mainly because his style isn't as flashy as his little brother Stevie's. Jimmie has a great feel for the Blues, and has a great touch on guitar. Remember, he doesn't use a pick either - just bare fingers.
PS - Lou Ann Barton used to play with Stevie Ray Vaughan before he formed Double Trouble with Tommy Shannon and Chris Layton. Some of the music was released on a CD under Lou Ann's name a couple years ago. She is a great Blues vocalist.

You're funny.
Got my shades on and just swaying to the music. (pimp)

Blues as blues is supposed to be. Not great, but good. It's the blues.
I like this tune. Laid back, sexy blues. Thanks!
Love dat Jimmy! Got a chance to see him last month (with Lou Ann Barton on a lot of the vocals) with his awesome Tilt-A-Whirl Band. They were opening for B.B. King. Great show!

I agree that it's good to hear Jimmie here. He has always had a presence here in Austin and played with the Fabulous Thunderbirds in many places around the country.
Jimmie seems to have developed a very distinct style of blues guitar playing. If you like this, check out Family Style that he did with brother Stevie. Good stuff.
Nice to hear Jimmie Vaughan on RP. It's natural to try and compare Jimmie to his brother but to me that's unfair. Stevie was simply an undeniable talent.
Jimmie brings a lot to the table and should be considered on his own merits. I frequently enjoy his music.

It's a lady from Austin named Lou Ann Barton. Good to hear Jimmie on RP!
