Playing in the dirt
We find the seeds of doubt
Don't water them with your tears
Don't think about all the years you'd rather be without

Eden lets me in
I find the seeds of love
And climb upon the highwire
I kiss and tell all my fears

CHORUS
Falling down the mountain
End up kissing dirt
Look a little closer
Sometimes it wouldn't hurt

Do-do-do-do
Do-do-do-do, playing in the dirt
We find the seeds of fun
Do-do-do-do, and we scream like alleycats
Do-do-do-do, tearing down what we attack
To prove that we are one

VERSE 4
Cutting through the night
We find the seeds of lust
And lose our minds on one intent
These passions never seem to end

CHORUS

You know it wouldn't hurt
Hey

CHORUS

I said get up, get up, get up
Get up to the top, yeah
I'm falling down the mountain
End up kissing dirt, yeah
I'm falling, falling
Yeah, yeah, yeah

VERSE 4
CHORUS

EXCELLENT! I had never heard this tune before. That is why we come here.  Thanx RP!
We saw INXS at U of W Alumni Hall in 1987, an amphitheater sized venue big enough to have some space, but small enough to be intimate with no bad seats. Michael was barefoot through the entire performance and he was absolutely stellar. He left us far too early and I can't help but think of what their potential could have been....

Saw them live in San Francisco when Hutchence was alive around '87. They were mesmerizing -- Hutchence was an amazing dancer -- danced through the whole show.

GREAT TUNE!!  If you don't like it, hit the "skip button".  ...problem solved!
Wow! Totally forgot about this one

agreed. i remember when their first hit was on the radio when i was in high school. i was hooked immediately.
This song always makes me stop and listen. The entire album is amazing!

Had to go to 10

I guess that you did not play the cassette enough!

I never realized  the greatness of INXS until recently. They have so many great songs. Thank you RP for bringing that to my attention.

Sadly nothing from 10 to 1 though!

On a side note I heard these guys tried to get back together and called Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, etc.) to see if he'd replace their lead singer. He laughed and laughed before he declined.

Yeah Paton said:

Patton apparently even went so far as to badmouth the group on
Australian radio, making a tasteless joke in the process. "The DJ kept
pressing it and pressing it," Patton recalled, mimicking an
Australian accent: "'What do you mean you said no? You didn't even
consider it?' And I said, 'Would you?' And he said, 'Of course, they are
one of the most prestigious Australian acts,' blah blah blah. He'd ask
me a few other questions, and then he'd go back to it. 'So really, about
that INXS thing ...' I said, 'OK, look. I did consider it. I
told them that the only way I would do it was if I came on stage and
could rig up a noose and hang myself while I was singing.'"

As it turned out, that joke went out on national radio during National Suicide Awareness Week—and while Michael Hutchence's parents were listening, no less

He sounds like a real piece of ...work... this Mike Patton.  Of course with your equally tasteless offering, I guess the 2 of you would make good company.
Played the heck out of this band back in the day. However, I do not recommend listening to The Devil Inside when you're tripping on acid.

My band use to do 'What You Need' in the 80's. U4EA was the group name. I sang & played the Sax part on my DX21 with a blow thing attached to accentuate the sound. The 80's were maybe the best decade of all...a little bit of everything! I do miss.....

Bought my DX21 in 1987, but I was using it for the fretless band sound with a TR-505, our band was called "Remember". The 80s were definitely a parenthesis of heaven, at least musically. By the way, I had completely forgotten this song, thanks RP.
My favorite INXS song! And that’s saying a lot

... wait that's another song.
Without a doubt, one of my favorite bands.  The "Live Baby Live" album and video are outstanding.  They could never recover after Michael Hutchence checked out. What a tremendous loss.
There's something about this tune. Never liked the band but this one song is really up there.
Love theses guys. I saw them in Bercy-Paris in 1991-1992 i don't remember. It was so good. Thinking to Michael Hutchence. Repose en paix.
I love this album. Another member of my vinyl collection. Doesn't get old, either.{#Bananajam}{#Bananasplit}{#Dance}

They were definitely big in their time, even overplayed in the day! I'm happy to say that it seems to hold up really well. Got it CRANKED
This was a great album. And this song was one of the best on it.  The power of this song. The way it builds.  Brings back such good memories too.
Kind of weird to hear Michael Hutchence on a day when all are remembering Robin Williams... RIP to those creative geniuses...

Great band...esp their early stuff
excuse me, but does anyone else sound like this? This is INEX!   glorious..as it was said 'sometimes you kick, (official dot dot dot) sometimes you get kicked" listened to Kick three times this month.

>>John Lydon, the guy that used to front the Sex Pistols and go by Johnny Rotten, has announced that his band Public Image Ltd. will release a new album titled This Is PiL at some point in 2012. NME reported yesterday that the Lydon-fronted art-punks have been working on the album for the past two years. It will be their first since 1992's That What Is Not.

Lydon talked to BBC 6Music about the album, where he said he had to tour for two years to raise funds to cover the recording costs.

"I was always full of ideas, but I had to wait until I had enough money to release an album," Lydon told the BBC. "Everybody thinks I made such a fortune with the Sex Pistols. Well, unfortunately that is not true."

I was at that show in NYC, and it was great, Crazy mixed crowd of big hair from Long Island and Jersey and the PIL punks still trying to hold on.

Great music Bill, you make the long hours in the office most pleasant.  Thank you.

7 becomes 8. Good tune.
Always underwhelmed by INXS but time treats them well and RP makes anything sound good in the mix.
Ages since I heard a good Inxs track, thanks for this one; I have given it a 7 but it may yet go up...
that's a good one.

i love this song.
This is my favourite misheard lyrics song:

Falling down the Mountain
Anarchists and Ducks
Was pretty sure this was Listn Like Thieves when I heard it.  These guys really did have a "sound" which they repeated over and over and over and over and .......
Thanks!  This song brought back some specific good memories and feelings.
Wow.  This is the first time I've heard this on "the radio".  Refreshing to hear it again after all these years.

I used to listen to this album a lot, but I don't necessarily think this is their best....
...and better was to come on "Kick" and "X".

This one's easily worthy of a seven - no less.
Definitely dig this tune - been a LONG time since I've heard it - good memories!

This was the last INXS album that I really identified with. "Shabooh Shoobah" and "The Swing" were both monsters and both very formative for me. "Listen Like Thieves" was the transitional album that set them up for the massive fame that really came with "Kick." I like the later albums as well, but it didn't feel as quirky and original as the early albums.

Today INXS may be written off as something from a far off time and land (and their current pursuits to don't so them any favors) but for most of the 1980s they could do no wrong. I really wish we would have had the opportunity to see how they could have evolved with a healthy, happy Hutchence, but it wasn't to be.

I saw them live at the Gladesville Tavern (Sydney) in May of 1981, I  thought to myself wow who is this guy, he reminded me of a version of Mick Jagger the way he owned the stage and strutted around.  It was a great show.

Then the Beatles, Bill you got it goin on!

Never heard this one. It aint bad. INXS had a sexy image, and Hutchence had a great voice. JD isnt Hutchence, but apparently he loves this band and so getting the gig as lead singer was a dream come true. So what if he's 20 years younger than the bandmates...

I saw INXS a few times back in their prime. They were the real deal back then and Michael Hutchence was one of those rare singers that had a distinct powerful voice mixed with an undeniable charm (aka sex appeal for the ladies). Sadly for INXS he is irreplaceable.
