I'm looking and I'm dreaming for the first time
I'm inside and I'm outside at the same time
And everything is real
Do I like the way I feel?
When the world crashes in into my living room
Television man made me what I am
People like to put the television down
But we are just good friends
(I'm a) television man
I knew a girl, she was a macho man
But it's alright, I wasn't fooled for long
This is the place for me
I'm the king, and you're the queen
CHORUS
Take a walk in the beautiful garden
Everyone would like to say hello
It doesn't matter what you say
Come and take us away
The world crashes in, into my living room
The world crashes in, into my living room
The world crashes in, into my living room
The world crashes in, into my living room
And we are still good friends...(Television man)
I'm watching everything...(Television man)
Television man...(Television man)
I'm watching everything...(Television man)
Television man...and I'm gonna say
We are still good friends...and I'm trying to be
Watchin' everything...and I gotta say
We are still good friends...You know the way it is
Television man...I've got what you need
We are still good friends...I know the way you are
Television man...I know what you're tryin' to be
Watchin' everything...and I gotta say
That's how the story ends.

I like the Talking Heads but this one is a stinker.
Just a comment, but there seems to be alot of Talking Heads songs being played.
In my opinion, the band was good but not great, especially to justify over-playing of alot of their mediocre songs.

Wow, in 2009 this song triggered a whole bunch of people! What happened then?

I agree 100%. i am starting to believe the other posters when they say RP plays too much THs, and I am a fan of them. Most of this CD is weak and should be avoided.
And She Was, Perfect World, and Road To Nowhere are just three that shouldn't be avoided.

Funny. I've loved the Heads since Fear was released. I think this album is one of their best efforts.
But like me mum said: That's what makes for horse racing.

Very weak effort by them - I much prefer their other material and I don't mean just the commercially successful stuff.

Baba? That's a fine little tune and she had the smarts - like a lot of other modestly-talented stars - to hire the best backup band that she could afford. See also: Sting.
BTW, it's spelled "whose" in that usage.

They released True Stories and Naked after this, and while True Stories was at best a modest improvement, Naked was a real return to form.
But yes, this was a disappointment, and "Television Man" was surely one of the least interesting tracks on this record.
A lousy album and flat song from a band that provided much better and exciting work before this last offering.

Come to the conclusion the only Talking Heads song I enjoy is the song about the parking lot. The paradise song.
Great work from the band.

If RP would EVER play something from the first two albums you might understand how great they were - this song shows how they lost their ideas and energy toward the end.
I don't know, I think this is a pretty solid track. Maybe it doesn't have the artsy cache of their first 4 albums, and sure it sounds polished, but this is still great music.
Everyone (including me) tends to judge new artists against the rest of the pack, whereas established acts get the extra scrutinty of comparisions to their best work. But sometimes this unfairly diminishes above-average music.
Just relax and enjoy!

This album marked the Heads transition from being brilliant rock/funk/world musical innovators (before Creatures) to being just a pretty good band. Most bands could be happy with Little Creatures, but kind of sub-par considering what these guys are capable of. Shoulda kept that Adrian Belew, Steve Scales, Bernie Worrell lineup together forever.
Yeah, I see what you mean. The band went from artsy to poppy. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing - David Byrne sure sounded like he was having a blast recording Little Creatures.

I don't know. My brain is wired for talking heads. I don't hear it played anywhere else. Depending upon my mood, it can be a background music or something to party with.

Yep, heard it again this time around...with about 15 seconds left in the song. Really wierd.
Decent tune for me. Not the world's biggest TH's fan.

What is it with Radio Paradise and Talking Heads. I have to disconnect every time this band comes on cause it is just painful to listen t; which is way too often cause you play them way too much. This is my only complaint against the station as a long time listener, but it is a big one!
I imagine they are a big source of your large # of 1 ratings? Given that is your most common rating, perhaps you've got the wrong channel? Sadly, tho, given that you seem to have polarized preferences with no middle ratings, I doubt that any station will suit you.
doin' the chair dance ---!

Was it really necessary to copy and paste this post on every Talking Heads song on the playlist?
Take 2 and relax.

I guess it takes all kinds. When I hear the 'Heads, I click on the song and give it a 9 or 10.
Peace brother!

Love the Talking Heads and Radio Paradise but they sure do get played a lot here...
Another song, like the Turtles' "Happy Together", that ends in a Picardy third. Habitues will recognize this thread...
One of TH's most bland tracks ever! Where's Eno? Boston circa 80...The Neats rocked!
Ahhhhhhhhhh... first Michael Hedges, and *now* one of the Original "Alternative Music" bands!!!
Back in the 80's, in the Boston area, you could say; "I listen to WFNX." and that spoke alot about who you were... I'm sure there are similar stations around the country... but "Alt Music" really used to be "different".... sigh.
Great song, ground breaking band, ha ha ha ha ha- my five year old twins are now clapping and stamping and going "La-la-la-laaaa-la!"
Hahahahahahahahaaaaa....
Jesus, I'm getting old.... ;)
mmmm hmmm
Big Drums of the Gated Reverb Eighties
DAMN THAT TELEVISION!
Wait, that's the other song. The one I REALLY like.
But I do like this one, and it's about the last time that Byrne really cut loose with one of those great, wackyass guitar solos (albeit a super-short one) that were all over the early albums.
I thought this sounded familiar. Time to get the vinyl out & show it to the kids...
WONDERFUL! now i have to go dig this album out...
I LOOOVVEE the Talking Heads... I would do anything to see them back together and live!

I'm afraid I'm still waiting to get keyed in...20+ years and counting. Some of their stuff hits the mark for me, some doesn't. This sounds terribly derivative, especially for a band that has produced such original work. But, I'll heed your advice and pick this album back up for another go-round.
Also, maybe it's my playback, but it sounds like the tempo gets slowed down artificially or because of a tape defect toward the end of the track. My imagination, or do others hear it?

Dang. I think I actually HAVE this album. On cassette? Must be. Completely forgot how much I liked this track. Thanks for reminding me, Radio Man!
