I see you there
Your long black hair
Your eyes just stare
Your mind is turning

You know I'll laugh
I won't take it back
I've seen your eyes
I know what you're thinking

And one by one
We'll shoot our guns
We'll have fun
Don't ever doubt it

And when I say
"Fare thee well,
My only friend"
Oh how the days go
Oh how the days go

Your setting sun
Your broken drum
Your little drugs
I'll never forget you
I'll never forget you

Thought a bird had gotten in the house.  Never noticed the 'chirps' before.
Beck has a musical style with no fixed position, which kind of makes him the Bruce Lee of the music world.

Hi Class!
Don't know what goes on inside Beck's head, but he does write good music. Don't get the Scientology at all...but this is good tune from an underrated album.

I agree on not "hearing" most of his stuff. But as I was thinking to myself, a coworker gave words to my thoughts: "That sounds like Pink Floyd"
We were rather surprised to find it was Beck

There's one of these in the comments for just about every song in the RP playlist.
Sounds a lot like 'Human Wheels' by John Mellencamp, which is a good thing :)
Genius.
Interesting song: 7   hideous album art: –7
LOL! Scrawny blonde nerds rock!

Geez, I forget that I am too, until I hear him on RP - the only place I ever seem to hear him. I don't listen to commercial radio, but somehow I doubt they're playing anything by him, much less cuts like this. So I hear one of his songs here on RP - sometimes an older one that I've heard a zillion times, or one I've never heard before, like this one - and suddenly I'm mesmerized and I can't concentrate, and I'm fantasizing about being within 12 inches of this scrawny blond nerd, and me knees get weak. I crumble in the presence of great talent.

Yes, but very talented one.

Finally a Beck song I dig (well, sort of...)
Frankly? I think BECK is an asshole!

We need the track 'Missing' from this album.
a dreary and tedious tune from an outstanding artist
He can do no wrong!!
This intro sounds just llike the soundtrack from John Carpenter's "Vampires".
brutal

I can hear Syd Barrett rolling in his grave!
Not really one of the best songs on the album...
he's got more albums out there than i realized..

I can see how some would think it barren, but the point is its barren-ness. It is very spare for Beck but to me that makes it effective.

Heh. When someone seems really brilliant and creative with what they do, I admit to feeling very attracted to them. I havent felt it for Beck but there have been others.

Does the singing remind anyone of Eno on 'Before and After Science?'
That sure sounded like Robert Fripp on guitar. Anybody know about that?
Beck........ you're dreamy.....

Just came here to post that. The BoC remix is way better in my opinion.
Beck has been quoted to say that he almost took his version of Broken Drum off Guero and put the Boards of Canada remix on there instead.
It just distresses me to no end that I really, really like this song. . . .
The very beginning intro of this song sounds like a funked out, weird version of "Iron Man" by Black Sabbath.

Haha! The funniest thing just happened. At first I couldn't hear what you were talking about. Then I moved closer to the speakers and...yep, I can definitely hear a scratchy/hissing noise. Moved on to the next song...wait a minute! I still hear that noise. Finally realized that I was hearing the carbonation bubbles in my Coke Zero popping. So...I'm still not sure what you're talking about with the hissing sound on the track. LOL!

sounds about rigth. sea change was his break up/divorce album (in case it was not super apparent). has anyone else realized that a couple of his albums are slang spanish? it took me for-EVER to snap to this! i cant believe i missed it for so long. both are spelt more phonetically Odelay- "horale" slang for "what's up?" Guero- blondie in spanish
I'm liking this mix so far. Moby to Beck, can't wait for the next song.

For just one tiny, itsy-bitsy, wee, small moment I thought this was going to be Gary Glitter...
If Napoleon Dynamite could sing... (or produce, arrange, record, etc.)

Ol Trusty has a real problem with that concept, I have noticed...

It would be an interesting piece for me, but for the extremely annoying squeaky toy sound that repeats in the background. To a parent, that is an alert sound: what's my baby up to, is she ok?
Sounds like the mating call of the whark in Riven.

Correct.
Okay, seriously. That was an excellent follow up to Porcelain. I love this place.
Am I gonna wake up with a needle in my arm in a few minutes? :propeller.gif: Nice sound. Just a bit slooooooow.
I think I like it, but it's awfully slow for a drowsy Friday afternoon at work.
This is putting me to sleep!
decent, but i'm a much bigger fan of the Boards of Canada remix of this one.
Not bad

I bought the CD weeks ago a it is still in my CD player, haven't stopped listening. Every track on Guero kicks ass.
Tell you what- I'll flesh out "bunk" if you'll flesh out "superb". Guero rocks city blocks. I like it forwards. I like it backwards. I like it upside-down. "E-Pro" punches you in the face and you want some more, which you get from eleven other tracks on this outstanding album. This cut is the exception. It follows the outstanding and upbeat "Hell Yes" by shifting from fifth to reverse. It sounds like something Beck could do in his sleep, and did, which translates to underachievement in my book. It starts nowhere and goes nowhere, with a bunch of lazy guitar ramblings filling space. If anything, it sounds like the last track he'd pick for a B-side, something that didn't fit with the album or wasn't well fleshed out- so it fits the Sea Change sound? Great. It doesn't fit Guero's, though, and it's a pretty jarring departure. Perhaps if he'd moved it closer to "Emergency Exit" it would have blended a bit better with the flow of the album, but that track makes me dislike "Broken Drum" even more, as I feel like he put a lot more effort into it, which makes BD seem like an orphan.
