I think its only fair to say
We'd welcome riches down our way
No stigma knotted in my hair
I want to be a millionaire
Nevertheless I must insist
A thought is spared for those who missed
The handouts when it came to wealth
To education and good health
The time has come now all can see
As seeing this is killing me
our future victim to command
Together we can lend a hand
(Chorus)
So don't blame me for wanting more
The facts are too hard too ingnore
I'm scared to death of poverty
I only want whats best for me
But even so I'm holding on
I think the world can live as one
If only credence took the lead
The world would see a world to feed
An endless sea of blood that's spilt
Enough to sail an ark of guilt
And when we lend our helping hand
We'll have our green and pleasant land
We'd welcome riches down our way
No stigma knotted in my hair
I want to be a millionaire
Nevertheless I must insist
A thought is spared for those who missed
The handouts when it came to wealth
To education and good health
The time has come now all can see
As seeing this is killing me
our future victim to command
Together we can lend a hand

Fun! Makes me feel like I'm chilling at a poolside with friends, downing some cold brews!

You guys have any early UB-40? Something from "Present Arms" or "UB44?"

Why is this rated so low, its a cool groovin' tune!
Don't blame me; I give it an 8!
I thought I had a webpage opened with a really obnoxious midi in the background, turns out it was the song
Love UB40...nice to hear em.
There is so so much better UB40 out there.... Anything from their first 2-3 albums.
Worst band ever! Only a slight exaggeration there.
I detest UB40. That cheesy casio reggae sound just drives me up the wall.
I can't stand UB40! Ali Cambell has been doing the same shit for ages! In the band and in solo as well!
They are boring, and very weak. Do only I hear that annoying organlike pumping, or is it my head?

I don't get it either. I kind of think UB40 is so out of style, that they're almost cool again. Can still listen to this album just about anytime. Of course, it's definitely not for everyone, and particularly not the clinically morose.
:)
Does all of their stuff sound like Rat in the Kitchen?

Seeing UB40 at House of Blues - Sunset on Wednesday night - Soooooooooooo excited!!!!! It will be my first time!
The lowest rating I have given a song in over a month, congrats UB40!
Wish I was seeing them at the Chumash Casino this weekend. Damn, they sold out before I could get tickets.
First concert I ever saw was UB40 on their Rat in the Kitchen tour.
Ironically, the first time I smelled marijuana too.
Go figure.

Nice memories.
Yeah, maybe one day... but it's still too soon for me. Flared trousers took about 15 years before they started to seem cool again, but somehow the stuff from the 80s is taking me longer to get over... probably because of the embarrassment of having engaged in it so much the first time round!

Sorry - just can't get past that horrible 80s digital keyboard sound.

I used to live and work in Birmingham, UB40's home town (I actually worked in their Abattoir recording studio a few times) and that album (Rat in the Kitchen) always reminds me of a funny story... about the time it came out, some members of the band went into partnership to buy a restaurant in the city, called "The Latin Quarter". When it was opening, the local TV station did an item on it on the evening news. Somebody in production must have said "just stick their latest single on the soundtrack in the background" without realizing what their current single was. So there was this lovely piece on the evening news about this great new restaurant, with "there's a rat in me kitchen, what am I gonna do?" playing in the background. I believe the restaurant closed some time ago... I'm not suggesting it was related to health and safety issues, but I know I could never bring myself to eat there after that!

Dude, Super Mario Bros rocks. Nothing wrong with Nintendo, or this song.

One of my ALLLLLL time favorite albums ever!
Excellent album. Thanks to whomever contributed this one.
Excellent, UB40! They have some great stuff, especially the early CDs.
I learned my first and only words in Zulu from them, "amandla awetu" (power is ours), on the last track from this CD.
