Maybe I should go back to bed
RUN back to bed - maybe this song is just a bad dream...

WHAT is good about this?!
Nothing, absolutely nothing. I cringe whenever I hear the opening notes. The lead "singer's" voice is coma inducing. I certainly do wish it weren't getting so much play on RP.

I love this song.

Aldgate East!
there are so many other awesome belle and sebastian songs out there, why do i keep hearing only this song?
Well it really is a nice dismal rainy English sort of song, about a dismal rainy coal smudgy English sort of place. Not bad if you're in the mood... and if you (sigh) understand that (sigh) sort of thing... kind at the other end of the spectrum from "That's Entertainment."
King's Cross.
(Russian rules - train stations are wild)
eclectic...not catatonic
still, its not that bad....i guess

You even write like they sing. What a hoot!

Is there a factory somewhere producing this whiny, breathy, mopey music, and then sticking different labels on it like this group, Iron and Wine, Sufjan S, etc? It all sounds so tediously alike.

Just gone from 3 to 2. A 1 is not long in coming if this keeps getting played so often.
yechhh.... and it's sooo long!
a slow song from a fun band. i enjoy it personally.

Your right. This song sucks, it really just sucks.
Song just about reflects Mornington Cresent. Has anybody been there? I have and it is dismal and boring...much like this song really.
And here I was thinking, "This is the worst Kinks song I have ever heard"
Another day, and this song is on again, and it still sucks.

They just suck. At everything. Godawful.
Rank amateurs.

One of the stand-out tracks from the Life Pursuit...more in line with B&S's golden age. A sad and wistful tune that captures the laidback, hip vibe of that area (home to Koko...). Perfect for 4:38 on a Monday.
I thought it was kind of meh the first few times I heard it, but it's growing on me.
Love the music... not crazy about the voice...
This band is so versitile, I'm lovin them!
hmmm... still not gettin' it.
how 'bout some Arab Strap?
Nice Piano, drums and voice. Soft sound ... hum very relaxing

Listened to this CD several times at work today on Rhapsody. It's pretty good - this isn't close to the best song on it, though.
Agreed - I even picked it up last week thanks to hearing the better tracks on RP. Great album.

I saw the title of this song and hoped it would be a tribute to the legendary game on BBC Radio 4's 'I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue'.
I was wrong.
You beat me to it!
Anyway, anyone can listen in at any time on www.bbc.co.uk Don't forget to also check out things like 'Best of Jazz' also presented by Humph. Or the Paul Jones Blues show.
The singer's voice is making me ill.
Great chill song.
Sounds like a toned down Ray Davies..

sounds like he's channeling Nico here.

A great shame. For anyone keen to hear the filthiest innuendo's spoken by an 83 year old trumpet playing, Old Etonian ex-Guardsmen on the BBC check out this. https://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/clue/ Look out for the delightful Samantha, often found sitting on Humph's right hand.
Bumped from a 3 to a 4 on this listen.

Instead of skipping blithely down the hall, this one just clomps along heavily in its ill-fitting army boots. (That's the image I get)
Mornington Crescent
I think of you
Rain in the southeast
Men feeling blue
Men with their bowlers
Kids with their spats
Ladies with chauffeurs
Dogs wearing hats and jackets
Rich apartments
Old punk posters
Tartan garments
I love the exquisite array
I love the camp as camp parade
The possibilities suggest themselves to me
I'm feeling free
Mornington Crescent
The sun in the east
I've got a job on
For a Senegalese rich arbitrator
In African law
To paint his apartment, strip down the walls
Came down between us lately
Lust and want and need just caved in
'Is it wise?'
The answer's no
It never is but since you ask
We pause thoughtfully, for twenty seconds reprieve
Then it's off with the briefs
Mornington Crescent
Sin is my game
We'll all be lined up
Irrelevant fame
Next to the broker, the nurse and the drunk
I was a joker, the wannabe punk that got lucky
Had a good time
Life became fruitless
Egotistic swine to all your friends
All the ladies and the men
The possibilities suggest themselves to me
We're a little too free
