These memories are just pieces of sky
Pieces of something much bigger than I
To anyone else just endless blue
I see time framed an image of you
These memories haunt me like a moon
Holds a sea like the sky holds a sun
The sea holds my tears and carries me
My heart is too heavy for one
When it's over, it's over
I best get busy living, been a long time gone
A dress made of air and webs and you
The wet dreams evaporate as they come true
To anyone else just endless blue
An invisible kite string connects me to you
I know that it's selfish to think you'd come here
There's so many people that must need you near
There's so many people that need to know
That you're still with them even when you go
That you're still with them even when they don't know
And it's over, it's over
I best get busy living, you been a long time gone

How do you know how much you've been missing?
Does it add up to some names on a list?
Do you know we're just pieces of sky?
Pieces of time that keep drifting by

Thank you RP for introducing me to Beth Orton.
Just have to chip in as well... That was quite possibly the most exquisite transition across genres that I have heard. Bach to Beth... just lovely.
Like everyone else, I was so much into Moonlight Sonata that when it ended, I was wondering how Bill was going to transition into the next song. Nicely done!!
i agree...great transition
Nice NEW trasition. Ivy "Feel so Free" Beth Orton... Always like what you do here...thanks Bill!
Brilliant mix, Bill. Did someone say that already?

Agree...great transition

Hmmm, same segue tonight too. Bill, you have this crazy system on autopilot for months at a time?
Perhaps there are only so many perfect transitions out there. The piano to piano between these 2 songs is so seamless.

Beethoven Beth Orton. 'Cos the names sound similar?
No...because the music slipped smoothly between them like satin in a summer night breeze...that's why. Niiiice.

I did not like this song at all when I first heard it on Comfort of Strangers. But it has really grown on me... it really is a stunner. And it's a powerhouse when you see her perform it live. Brief, simple, to the point, powerful and gone. Not many songs out there that are like it.

Yes, yes, yes, what they said... Great segue from Beethoven. I had to stop writing my paper and take note to run those together sometime in my own playlist. Thanks for the great tunes as usual Bill and Rebecca! Power to the peaceful!

This CD sits in my car awaiting its first listen. I'll reserve judgement on this for now. But that was an awesome segue from Moonlight Sonata. Orton's first notes cried out for it. Didn't it end the same way? Does the segue work the other way 'round, Orton into Beethoven? I love a good segue.
I thought the same, I couldn't tell beethoven was over until I heard a voice.
First Beth song I have liked, I dont know if its just placement...pretty much anything mellow that follows Beethoven is sure to get some residual positive rating from me.
Great transition there!!! What a DJ!!
I saw her in concert last Thursday & I must say this song goes over much better live, still a nice piano transition from Beethoven. AS for the earlier comment about not understanding the appeal of her music, can't help here. I suspect you either like this or not. No crime in either. I like her, really don't care if you do either :-)

I gotta second that - this is just one reason why I love RP.
I like Beth (was introduced to her here), and I like this song after the first hearing. Will need to hear it again before adding my rating. Forlorn maybe, but that doesn't have to be bad. It's a mood, and moods of all kinds make for good musical themes.
No offense intended, for I am a big fan of both, but I thought this was Neil Young before Bill said it was Beth Orton. Wow. Color me confused.
This is definitely not her best, but it's Beth, so I can forgive her almost anything.

Can anyone please explain the appeal of Beth Orton? I've never understood it.
It's something that if you need it explained, you would never get it.
This is just plain bad.

Lovely song....wrong singer
I think your comment's right on. I have two of her albums, and generally like her quirky voice. However I think she does better with more uptempo, upbeat numbers. This just sounds forelorn.
