The information is laughing at us
The ticker tape feeds the night
Looking for a lost transmission
A heaven that we left behind

When the information comes
We'll know what we're made from
And the skyline rising
Highrise eyes see through you

Say hello to a mannequin
The ghost of an automaton
The witching hour is summoning up
Armies where they don't belong

When the information comes
We'll know what we're made from
And the skyline rising
Highrise eyes see through you

She's the sister of avarice
The wife of a poisonous tide
She's the eye of a battle of storms
That sees where the atoms collide

When the information comes
We'll know what we're made from
And the skyline rising
Highrise eyes see through you

Personally, I found it quite likable.

Creepy music makes the world turn around.

That's a masterpiece !

simple.pure.noise.
Fritz Lang saw this shit coming.

Post-industrial alienation ... this is what my generation left for the next ones.

You're welcome.

Every time I hear this song, it reminds me of SNL.  The one where Horatio Saenz, Jimmy Fallon,  and the rest do that cheezy Christmas song.

I like this album and all, but there are a couple of creepy moments on it.  This song is one of them.

I'd say that Beck was influenced by the space-alien industrial band Chrome on this one. I hear a lot of aural influences, and Chrome even had a song named Informations....

more like the space-alien CULT OF SCIENTOLOGY {#Nyah}

I could care less about Beck's religious affiliation, he can worship a huge jam dripping cosmic muffin for all I care. His music expresses how manic , beautiful ,and idiotic life can be (all at the same time) in 2007. I adore him. Rant away!

This is where my Beck-o-meter swings from "I like" right pass "tolerate" all the way to "no thanks".

hahaha! Definitely! This song is not too great. Several others way better off this album.
LOVE all the sounds. Brilliant originality! 9
What terribly dull song. No effort from the writer, even the singer sounds bored.
I know I'm in the minority here, but I'm really loving this album. Can't get enough!
Not the best song on this album.
Oh boy. It's the King of Funny Noises.

Give it time. Your brain needs a few listens to untangle this treasure trove of sounds to make sense of it.

...oh no...they got him too...

Shades of Ozric Tentacles
...and with that, I shut my laptop.
Better with Borat.
sounds like Beck took the Zooropa train with this one..

I don't see a point to it.

I guess I'm not cool enough. (or whatever the kids call it these days) I try to at least respect Beck from a creative standpoint, but I hear way more machine than instrument in most of his stuff.
YUP, I agree!
I love the subtle nuances of the female voices sliding around, almost sounding like instruments/electronics. It's especially effective in a car stereo/on headphones ...Beck is a musical genius.
I'm starting to like this song with its strong beat and discordance.

Odd, off kilter... this seems the kind of thing that probably needs several listens before it can really be judged.
yes.
This is a relief. I've heard several Beck cuts here that I rather liked. I was afraid I was going to have to reconsider my position that he's basically over-rated at best and really, really irritating at worst. Nope. He still is.
Speaking of Weird Al, if you haven't seen this yet, it's worth a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xEzGIuY7kw

The best off of this new effort...at least that I have heard.

Is that a muted cowbell I hear? "I got a fever, and the only cure is more cowbell!" (BTW, one of the funniest lines EVER on SNL)

I heard "Canadian Idiot" on the radio the other day. Yeah.... maybe when I was 8 that guy seemed funny, not now
