Sweet communion
Sweet communion
Sweet communion'

I have waited all my life
You say you are bonafide
To be my judge
Lay your law down on me, love

Seven devils, bring them on
I have left my weapons
'Cause I think you're wrong
These devils of yours they need love

Come and kneel with me, body and soul
Come and kneel with me, body and soul
Come and kneel with me, body and soul
Body and soul, body and soul

Sweet communion
Sweet communion

In my temple, boy, be warned
Violence doesn't have a home now
But ecstasy
That's as pure as a woman's gold

Seven devils, bring them on
I have left my weapons
'Cause I think you're wrong
These devils of yours they need love

Come and kneel with me, body and soul
Come and kneel with me, body and soul
Come and kneel with me, body and soul
Body and soul, body and soul

I'll save you from that Sunday sermon
Boy, I think you need a conversion
Body and soul, body and soul

Come and kneel with me, body and soul
Come and kneel with me, body and soul
Come and kneel with me, body and soul
Body and soul, body and soul

This artist does not get nearly enough credit.

Siouxie, is that you?

I like her more intimate pieces as well, but your criticism has validity to it.  Personally, I like her drama.  She's captivating.
As much as it pains me to admit it, I agree... While her artistic "flourishes" (some would say excesses) make her initimate works painful and overwraught (to me), they seem to translate into pretty good rock songs.

Love it,
Tori Amos is just all the way HOT!

Wow it is mighty refreshing to see a woman in "the business" who looks at (and portrays) several facets of her self.  Not just the hot, cutesy, babygirl side.  Sure, she's still a performer (and that's like saying "sure, he's still a politician, but...") but I see her as so much more of a "real" person than almost any other female artist out there.

Even though this song is not one of my favs, her first three albums will always be tops on my classics list.

Did I mention that the first time I heard Tori's name, I thought my friend had said "Torn Anus?"

I thought he was talking about a punk band. . .

{#Shifty}

Thanks, RP. I needed a Tori pick me up today...one of my favs on this album.

Not mine, either, but...

...Sounds like she had some things to "get out of her system" here on this album, and it's fascinating to listen along as she does so.

(Not sure I buy the record, though.)

No flame, but I'm guessing you don't have wide exposure to Tori's back catalogue or female vocalists in general.

I'm a fan of all Kate's (and PJ's) albums, and though I don't like all of Tori's work I still recognize much of what is uniquely hers. As much as anyone can be said to have created "unique" music, I mean.

Maybe one reason they seem so similar to you is because they have an unusually wide vocal range for pop? Shouldn't Tori get to exercise hers just as much as Kate has?
I generally like Tori, but I find this song rather annoying.

I agree.  I can't stand Tori Amos because she isn't just influenced by Kate Bush, but she's a complete rip-off and she' become successful as a result of this.  I'm amazed Kate doesn't sue her for plagiarism.

can't disagree more.  kate bush?  are you serious?

I see the similarity, but i've always perceived Kate Bush as having a sort of... hesitant(?) delivery that is actually part of her charm.  But in the (admittedly few) songs of her's I know well, her dynamic range falls far short of Tori's delivery.  Plus a major aspect of Tori's work is her piano playing (less so on this song obviously).

All that being said, I don't have a wide exposure to Kate Bush so... this is possibly an incomplete take.  I never saw her as being a rip-off though.

On the other hand, I have a love hate with Miss Amos born out of a combination of high expectations early in her career and a itching uncomfortable feeling i get any time I actually WATCH her perform.  Both she and Lisa Loeb have this look they give the camera that just weirds me out.  Other than that she rocks ;)

Only BillG, and I mean ONLY BillG, could move from RL Burnside to Tori Amos so seamlessly.  He's probably the only one who could do it at all.  Regardless what you think of the songs, you have to admire the mastery.

Either Bill or Rebecca must really like this one because it's currently being played daily. I'm just trying to understand WHAT IS HAPPENING TO THAT CHICKEN. is this some sort of Caribbean exorcism? What does it take for one to get cured?

??

The Romans used chickens for oracles, both when flying ("ex avibus") and when feeding ("auspicium ex tripudiis"). The hen ("gallina") gave a favourable omen ("auspicium ratum"), when appearing from the left (Cic.,de Div. ii.26), like the crow and the owl.

Goodness, this plain noise has finally come to an end.

Yep, Foreigner is bad, but I wouldn't say the worst. I'd put them ahead of Rush, Styx, KISS, April Wine and Creed, to name but a few!
Way too repetitive for my liking.
sublime....
Hmmm.. I'll always love Tori. I certainly don't feel like I hear her too much on RP! I love the variety!!!
She's an acquired taste....much like a lot of the music on RP. Thankfully she suits my palate quite nicely. Thanks RP.
Not the "Body And Soul" that I know and love. This makes Coleman Hawkins weep.

Your Mancunian commentary is more entertaining than the song, that is for sure!
In general I don't care for Tori Amos, especially when she gets all tinkly on the piano with hyper-breathy vocals. This, however, rocks.
As a general principle all music is good, after all it's all noise you either like or not; plus opinions are like arseholes in that everybodys got one. This is toss, tosh, piffle, wank, shite. I suppose it must have something to make me react so negatively, bollocks, it's a pile of wank.

Like it. Edgy Tori.
I've listened to TA for 15+ years. IMO, her output is uneven in greatness. She's talented, true that, but not always in an accessible way. She's no Kate Bush. This cut sounds fresh to me. Because I've been unimpressed by some of her more ambitious albums in the past, I'd be loathe to invest in a new one. TY RP for making me rethink this opinion though.
I wish RP would stop playing her so much.

Sounds like Siouxsie to me...
Never liked her voice but this tune must be rated,7.
I'll be... This is the second song from this album I've heard here that I don't absolutely hate...as I do the rest of Tori Amos songs/albums I've heard. This album is really a diversion from her usual serious-sounding, annoying style. Wow. Not bad.
I am a gigantic Tori fan - for over 15 yrs. This is her best in a while. This song makes me want to dance. Tori's voice is strong here and the music puts you into a trance.....Keep it up Tori!
dig it
Hmmm, it almost has a Tori does Depeche Mode flavor to it. I'm digging it!

Tori's a favorite of mine, but some fans act as if this woman is God....completely forgetting the Joni Mitchells, the Kate Bushs, the Laura Nyros, the women before her. She's up there, in my opinion, but NOT at the very top like some fans wanna put her at. Her fanbase kills me sometimes.
my favorite song on the new album. I can't get enough of it. Tori with edge is back.

Cool. Glad I'm not the only one. It seemed to lessen toward the latter half. Either Bill adjusted something.. . or... something else. But yeah, I'm at work too. I keep my best set of Senn cans here at work so I can listen to Radio Paradise in peace and comfort.
