Love it! I remember that commercial as well. It was on so much, I almost had it memorized.
I also remember one of Steve Martin's TV specials (he had one every Thanksgiving eve for a stretch in the late 1970's and early 1980's) having a small string quartet on where their banter before playing was those line above.

Quite an achievement I think and well worth considering when evaluating this piece.
Anyway, I often email artists if I like their stuff and did so to him. . . he mailed back and we had a bit of a chat. He seems a top bloke and is about to release another cd he has been slaving over.

I have bought two of his tracks. He strikes me as a very interesting and multifaceted artist. The tango rhythm and intensity+urgency of this tune is captivating.

The very beginning sounds like the intro for the Cristo Redentor (single version) by Harvey Mandel... then it goes into that tango-ish groove... and flirts with lots of other trippy stuff that made me not like it so much when it was in heavy rotation but gives me a kick when I hear it only once in a while... At any rate, it's just the type of stuff (interesting, diverse, nicely WEIRD) that I wonder if it'd get airplay anywhere else but here, the greatest station in this quadrant of the cosmos... LOVE THIS RP!

When I heard the first few chords of the guitar strumming opening, I thought it was the Tinderhooks. Then when I realized it wasn't , I checked the RP library and found that there are no Tinderhooks songs listed. Am I the only one who feels that's a void that should be remedied?

No, not digitally, but you can buy the CD from their homepage for a very fair price, I think it was app. 16 AUD!
