You won't admit you love me
And so
How am I ever
To know
You only tell me
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps

A million times I ask you
And then
I ask you over
Again
You only answer
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps

If you can't make your mind up
We'll never get started
And I don't wanna' wind up
Being parted, broken hearted

So if you really love me
Say yes
But if you don't, dear,
Confess
And please don't tell me
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps

If you can't make your mind up
We'll never get started
And I don't wanna' wind up
Being parted, broken hearted

So if you really love me
Say yes
But if you don't, dear,
Confess
And please don't tell me
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps

My first "1"  rating. I love this song, but what the heck are these guys doing?
This is truly awful, easiest sucko barfo I've made!
More sinister than sensual.
shite    1
Fun version.

I get the impression that Cake is making a mockery of this song. There's NO WAY this could be serious.  I don't give very many 1's, but this is one I simply cannot ignore. I hate what they did with this. I love the song itself, but if they're not going to try to improve on it, they shouldn't have wasted their time, and mine.  Please - someone upload the original. I need something to get this foul ringing out of my ears. {#Stop}

I'd take this over the original any day.
I might be in the minority, but this is probably my favorite Cake song from my favorite Cake album... It's fun, catchy, easy to sing along, and it's got everything quirky and charming that I love about Cake.

Cake again.  Happens every time.

{#Lol} Brand recognition?  I'm a little disturbed that the vocal I thought was for a song or two (Short Skirt, Long Jacket) is the staple. But I  like some of their songs, including this one. Well kinda... I gave it a 6 meaning I'm not sure yet and it's probably not something I'd buy. Better than what I've seen on their TV appearances though.

The theme song from "Coupling," a very funny British sit com. :)

Oh yeah! One of my favorite shows of all time. Definitely the funniest comedy I've ever seen. It's amazing how much the American version sucked.

I like Cake - but NOT this particular song.

Well not really, but it does suck. 2.

Cake brings NOTHING to this cute and witty song.  yuk.
i love this song, like the Spanish version and Doris Day version, also. i love his "Gen X" version.
The first time I heard this song (not by Cake) was in a film called Strictly Ballroom.  Funny film. From Australia, I believe.  Anyhow, I like this version by Cake.  It's raw and somtimes raw works.  Mostly, though, I like the song.

Nah, I want Connie Francis singing in Spanish.
Make it stop... or get him some singing lessons!!! UGH!       ARG!! even...

piece of cake
This is bad even by Cake standards.

The melody of the chorus reminds me very much of ABBA's Fernando. Kinda strange, in combination with Cake.

What melody?
The melody of the chorus reminds me very much of ABBA's Fernando. Kinda strange, in relation to Cake.

How would you know with your ear missing??

cake always offers a nice contrast in a unique and recognizable style. i don't ever feel that they are overplayed or that the mainstream is saturated by them, and whenever and wherever i hear them i always feel a little tug of appreciation for an underdog in the pop scene. thanks for playing them!
{#Curtain}  Yum Cake ... add two scoops of ice cream and it is always a party!  {#Hungry}

Yeah, Bill why can't it be Doris Day?  We listeners are eclectic and cool enough to take it!   {#Hungry}

Not in my books. Also agree with the 2 previous poster. Cake sucks big time.

Does this even count as 'singing'?

Wow, that was a crap cover...
I agree on the British Coupling version being much better.
I like almost everything I hear on RP, but this is pretty bad. The most sublime version of this piece I can recall having heard is the one by Manu Dibango and Eliades Ochoa on Cubafrica.
Quizás, quizás, quizás...
You know I admire Cake for giving it a try. lets hope they even like this song.....because it is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES...and they've butchered it! redjacket wrote:

Have you heard Mari Wilson's version? Which is the one they use on Coupling.
I saw them in concert on December 5th! I'm still talking about how great the show was! Merrill Auditorium in Portland!

Yes! Great show. Unfortunately, the version used on the show is better than this one.
When I first heard Cake when they had a top 40 hit, I thought almost nothing of them. Yeah, one hit wonders, even though I liked the song. Somehow, they kept putting out great little songs that were catchy and funny at the same time - many of them with a great groove. I've grown fond of the group. THERE! I said it!
I'm hungry for some cake.
I like Cake And this song is decent as well Fun to hear someone lacking pretension and that does not take them self so serious.
Bought this CD before a road trip to Houston from San Diego. We listened to it from begining to end at least 20 times. I love every track on this cd.
Nice to hear this on RP. I know a lot of people would disagree, but I like to hear Cake on RP from time to time.
Yay! Cake!
Yuck.
Well, if it can't be Doris Day....
