Everybody here
Comes from somewhere
That they would just soon forget
And disguise

At the summer camp where you volunteered
No one saw your face,
No one saw your fear
If that apparition had just appeared
Took you up and away
From this base and sheer

Humiliation.
Of your teenage station.

Nobody cares
No one remembers
And nobody cares

Yeah you cried and you cried
He's alive he's alive
Yeah you cried and cried and you
Cried and you cried

If you call out "safe"
Then I'll stop right away
If the premise buckles
And the ropes start to chafe
The details smart
But the story's the same
You don't have to explain,
You don't have to explain

Humiliation.
Of your teenage station.

Yeah you cried and you cried
He's alive he's alive
Yeah you cried and you cried and you
Cried and you

Realized your fantasies
Are dressed up in travesties
Enjoy yourself with no regrets

Everybody here
Comes from somewhere
That they would just as soon forget
And disguise

Yeah you cried and you cried
He's alive he's alive
Yeah you cried and you cried and you
Cried and you cried

Now there's nothing
Dark and there's nothing weird
Don't be afraid i will hold you near.
From the seance where you first betrayed
An open heart on a darkened stage.

A celebration
Of your teenage station

This
Inexperience, sweet, delirious.
Supernatural, superserious.
Inexperience, sweet, delirious.
Supernatural, superserious,
Wow.

I could do for never hearing from REM haters ever again.
I'm really liking Accelerate. I think it's their most cohesive album since Bill Berry left. It would be great to hear some other songs from the album... Until the Day is Done, Hollow Man...
It's taking RP a long time to play anything else off Accelerate! This is probably the weakest track on it.
Not their best work, but could be worse. I'm torn between a 6 and a 7.
Yuk!

Just awful.
Indeed. What the hell just happened to REM? Edit: When you hear it with the entire album, it works somehow. Hmmm...
I like it better than recent ones of theirs. Do they have another permanent or session drummer? It sure sounds like it this time. That drum machine just did not work with their tunes once their drummer left, I think it killed their sound and whole dynamic.
I didn't really hear it. oh well. Next time.

I'm really mixed on REM. I appreciate their skill, but about half of their songs I find to be really obnoxious. And the Shiny Happy People collaboration was, in my opinion, the worst song of 1991. This, however, is pretty good!
Shiny Happy People was 17 years ago? Oh crap...

I completely concur with your assessment and hope this isn't the high-water mark of the new effort.

Seriously, enough already.
Nice
I've been an REM fan for years, but this song just doesn't cut it for me. I've been hearing in on commercial FM radio for several weeks now, and try as I might, just can't get into it. I've rated it a 3 -- and consider that generous. Reminds me of "Bad Day" & "Animal" (the 2 "new" tracks from "In Time: The Best of R.E.M. 1988-2003." I'm hoping for some more melodic tracks when the new album is released. (I wish there was an emoticon that was scratching its head in bewilderment.)

How bout you retire from rating every REM song you hear as a 3 or 4. You don't like them? Move along, just wait, your super sucky Pink Floyd will be on soon enough, I am sure.
Hey now, careful where you aim that thing! Smacking down a troll comment is one thing, but don't be messin' with the Floyd!
Sweet! More REM to delight all the fans.
Just awful.
I like it. An initial 7 on the scoreboard.
I LOVE IT!!!!! So happy it finally made it to RP...can't wait for the CD...

Man I can't wait for this album to come out. Everything about this album feels like it's gonna really hit the spot. Great rock and roll. Very much needed right now.

Sweet- new REM, that sounds like the old REM. Refreshing!
About time they put something new out. I thought they retired. I like this new one.
New REM? Well alright! Makes my day. :-)

Hmmm. Not bad at all. Kinda rocking, for a change.
New R.E.M.! Woohoo!

Hey! Give REM the respect they deserve. I know they're kinda overplayed and too popular for some people to admit that it's good music. But, they put out a lot of awesome albums that only got minor attention. So give them credit, they fully deserve to be this popular. And this song? It's a 10!
Dude, the fact that some of REM's albums and songs rock has nothing to do with whether this song is crappy or not.

Gahhhh! Just as this song started, my boss came out of his office and started yammering. I missed it!

You call this rock?!?! I love R.E.M. but this is a turd.
Sucks
Oh... am I really first on an REM song!!! I'm reserving judgement right now, but I'm excited to have some new material from them to judge! Edit: Dang it... too slow on the typing...
