Got myself a new look,
Something gave me another chance to see.
Each time, each time I will try to do better.
Right now, right now is where I guess I belong.

Pulled my fist from my mouth.
I beat myself for a quarter century.
Remind, remind that it's bigger than me.
Dissolve, dissolve into evergreens.

These are things that I keep hidden in belly.
I can't see them but they control my life.
For a moment you could see right through me,
See right through me.
Help me make this right.
Look at all those skeletons running from their closets,
get them in the light!

These are things that I keep hidden in belly.
I can't see them but they control my life.
For a moment you could see right through me,
See right through me.
Help me make this right.
Look at all those skeletons running from their closets,
get them in the light!

You can take it in stride, or you can take it right between the eyes.
Suck up, suck up and take your medicine.
It's a good day, it's a good day to face the hard things.

Pulled my fist from my mouth.
I beat myself for a quarter century.
Remind, remind that it's bigger than me.
Dissolve, dissolve into evergreens.

We found beautiful babies sleeping in our ribs.
Get them in the light.
Get them in the light.

You can take it in stride, or you can take it right between the eyes.
Suck up, suck up and take your medicine.

We found beautiful babies sleeping in our ribs.
Get them in the light.
Get them in the light.

You can take it in stride, or you can take it right between the eyes.
Suck up, suck up and take your medicine.

You believe this vocal has been processed with AutoTune?

Thankfully, Bill & Rebecca didn't listen!!!   Thank you!  I love the lyrics.
Love this band, they are very unique. Another RP find for life.

I was just reading a comment on a Jeff Beck song 2 plays back about a listener playing that album in 1975 on the NJT... last time I drove DC>NY I listened to Cloud Cult the whole way.
I wish he'd pronounce his words properly. Good song or not.
I would love to listen to this song with another singer. Someone who is actually in control of his or her vocal chords (i.e. doesn't sound like the whining leader of a college band). Also, the (perceived) heavy use of AutoTune and hypercompression drives me nuts. If I'm ever pressed for an example where the lead vocals make or kill a song, I'll present this production.

The way it is, this tune (and all the others I know of this band) is rejected by my vegetative nervous system. Sorry Bill, I admire the way you take me on diverse musical journeys and thus tried to give this song every chance, but it doesn't even get through to my brain.
I dunno, I really love it. <3
It's kind of like the music Arcade Fire might better create instead.  Roughly similar orchestration and abstract material but with catchier hooks.

Well, while I wouldn't call it "really, really good", I do think it is a decent song.
And that's what I come here for on a daily basis after all - listen to songs I'd never encounter otherwise. Many I find great, some mediocre and a few I think are utter rubbish. But even when I think a song is rubbish, I appreciate that it may sound just perfect to the next guy, and who am I to elevate my preferences above his. I just leave a low rating and click PSD. No need to rip into the artist or the people who like it or even Bill himself.
So, I guess what I want to say, just keep playing the stuff you consider worth playing and don't listen to the haters.

PLEASE NEVER AGAIN!

By my rating policy (how much would I like to hear this or stuff like it, mostly), it gets a 3. The message is great but the overall effect is not what I would like to hear, mostly. On the other hand...

Gadzooks - they are just great!!! No bullsh*t spiritual guidance for grown-ups:
It's a good day

..
Just heard these guys for the first time.  The Emo guy with the falsetto reminds me of myself when the doc does my yearly prostate digital exam.  Oh, TMI?
It's better than the Cloud Cult song Esurance has been using in their commercial.
I find it delightful...kind of a young sound
cloud cult please go away with your shit music.

What if I just like quivering voices, strings, and electronica on their own merits?

I don't agree with the comment below that strings and electronica are per se pretentious, but I think RadioDoc's observation is spot on.

Yeah, I was right.  That's a solid 7.

. . . weird. . . this is growing on me, right after I said I hated it. . .

blech
a 3 for starts.  could go higher.  probably lower.....
guys voice is way too shins-like.  yuck.
These guys remind me of Polyphonic Spree.
Don't understand all the negative comments. I rather like this song.

I'm sorry, Bill. I have really tried to give this band a fair listen but everything I hear (and see) from them screams "gimmick" and "self-important grad students lecturing the artistically unwashed" or "bet I can get people to buy this dreck". I don't usually feel this negative about any music (even corporate rap and other auditory effluvia), and maybe my visceral reaction is a testament to their artistic power. Or maybe it's just bad music.

Maybe they could publish poetry and leave the music to musicians. The violinists are good though. Too bad they're saddled with the rest of the "band".

I like it.  I'll start with a 6, but it might go higher after another listen.

We all need medicine somehow - best is Love!!!!
{#Puke}{#Puke}{#Puke}{#Puke}{#Puke}
This truly sucks.
I dig it, so there!
Am I a Snob now?
I love it when I'm doing something in another window and a song I never heard before starts and I think (sometimes out loud) "Ooooh!  What's this??"   This song is quite interesting.  I can feel a grower coming on. Starting at a 7 for sure.  {#Music}

(Though I must say that the album cover perplexes me... and somewhat disturbs me for some reason...)

There is just something about Cloud Cult that makes me feel like I should like them more than I do.... oh well....

FWIW it made me sit up and listen too. I like it.

I just can't figure out this band. Sometimes I hate their songs. other times I love them. When this tune came on, I thought, "ooo, that's pretty cool, wonder what it is." I was shocked (shocked, I tell you {#Wink}) when I found out it was Cloud Cult.

Since I love you Bill (figuratively, that is {#Angel} ) I'll keep listening to Cloud Cult and see if I can figure this out.

i like it!
...this is cool, i think!..

I never liked Gentle Giant either..........

"8"? Try 3.
Very much enjoying the current Cloud Cult kick, Bill - I'll have to pick up a CD or iTunes purchases, I think.
Bill!

I DEFINITELY agree with you. I find this to be an 'EXCELLENT' tune. Mainly because they say 'suck up and take your medicine' {#Clap}!  Any song that has that as a main riff has me at hello...

:)

Okay, definitely above average song writing but I'm having trouble getting past the substandard vocal performance.  But that's just me.

Whereas I feel I must have done something right! I love these guys, in all their romantic, gothic glory! (7 for this one)

It's pretty visceral. I hate it because I hate it.
Hey, that's where my toy lamb with the windup music box inside it went! I haven't seen it since I was a baby. Rock on, lamb!

I am cutting my own throat with a pair of rusty scissors. Even the cover art sucks.

That was pretty crappy.

Oh god, another one.

Hate the voices,....song? well lagging a bit just behind. Marginal at best.
