The transition from Martha Wainwright to Neko Case is a breath of fresh air. While Martha is fine, Neko is amazing.

I love RP, but there are times where the PSD button doesn't work. Is this deliberate and is there a wry smile somewhere when I click it? I hope so, because it often gives me the opportunity to listen to music I would otherwise instantly bin. Like this one.

I thought I'd not heard this before, but I'd given it a '7' - bumped to '8', and that's even with the rather intrusive steel guitar (not one of my favourite instruments).

I got turned on to Neko here on RP, and tore through all her albums. This track didn't start out as my favorite, but in the end it's the one that stuck with me the longest. I love Jon Rauhouse's pedal steel, the band is tight, and it's a well produced recording of Neko at her best ... live. It's nice to hear it getting play every once in awhile, and that most people like it.

Personally, I think it's best really loud in the car with the windows down on a warm summer night. But, that's just me.

She's got such a clear, powerful voice - it really doesn't belong in the country music genré. She'd be a force to be reckoned with in the rock world. And, if she could dial it down a bit, she'd fit wonderfully in the Celtic realm, because of her conviction and nuance.

I like her, but I can't really get into her music. She's too much vocal and not enough subtlety. Sorry to those who love her music...

Not a fan of her vocal ability, either - but I'm surprised to find a well exposed person who has been around music professionally using the term "country" as if it could be narrowly defined.

Saw her in Tucson on Monday. I think they had literally walked a couple blocks from the recording studio. It was a benefit concert for greyhound adoption and abuse prevention - there's quite a controversial dog racing park here. Anyway, she played some new songs from their upcoming album and they sounded great.
