Came in from the city
Walked into the door
I turned around when I heard
The sound of footsteps on the floor
Love just like addiction
Now I'm hooked on you
I need some time to get it right
Your love's gonna see me through

Can't stop now, don't you know?
I ain't never gonna let you go
Don't go

Oh, baby, make your mind up
Give me what you got
Fix me with your lovin'
Shut the door and turn the lock
Hey, go get the doctor
Doctor came too late
Another night, I feel all right
My love for you can't wait

Can't stop now, don't you know?
I ain't never gonna let you go
Don't go

Came in from the city
Walked into the door
I turned around when I heard
The sound of footsteps on the floor
Said he was a killer
Now I know it's true
I'm dead when you walk out the door
Hey, babe, I'm hooked on you

Can't stop now, don't you know?
I ain't never gonna let you go
Don't go

Can't stop now, don't you know?
I ain't never gonna let you go
Don't go

Can't stop now, don't you know?
I ain't never gonna let you go
Don't go

Can't stop now, don't you know?
I ain't never gonna let you go

I ain't never gonna let you go
Don't go

Radio Paradise, you are SUPERB! My college friends and I are on a Yaz binge. Shouldn’t we all be?
Oh my, I remember break dancing to this. I was about 12 and convinced I was cool. Not sure what in the world gave me that impression though, lol.
Alison - whatta voice!!!
Bill reliving the 80s, must have been a good decade for him
Despite <5 opposition, this is good.
Personally, from this album I'd rather hear Winter Kills or In My Room. But if you really want something completely different, I Before E Except After C.
Only You is the ONE!
6.9.  Wow.

Maybe if Radiohead did this song the RP listeners would give it a 10.  Which is what I gave it.
1982, sophomore in high school. So many hours listening to this album stoned, driving around aimlessly at night at top volume!
10 out of 10 each and every time.

Two geniuses met Just the right moment in time for two albums.
I'm more familiar with Alison Moyet's solo work after this period, but this is a cool track, and man, does she have a voice. Also, flashbacks to the 80's. man, that was a long time ago.
This is simply brilliant synth work... It's so rich!!! That VOICE!!! YES!

Lot of HFS refugees on these boards. The one that really makes me think of Jake and Company is the one by Was (Not Was) that sampled the president at the time.

Quintessential 80s, and a bit of fun, but nothing more.
ALISON MOYET !!! What a voice!
Thank you for adding the image on-off feature.  ;-)

Alison for ever
Some of the deeper cuts on this album are very...ummm experimental?...well worth the listen.  Winter Kills is as dark as you can get in synth pop.  And Alison kills throughout.  Saw her at The Phoenix in T.O. at some point years ago and she was able to recreate the studio sound perfectly.  Amazing artist.
I can't believe how long it's been and yet people still get up in arms about synths somehow being less valid.

Listen guys, this is an expertly crafted pop song that basically sounds like the moment the 80s became the 80s. It's a total bop. It's cool if that doesn't work for you- but it's still "real" music. No need to get on your soap box over it.

Alison Moyet released her own album a little after that (maybe called Alf?) -- and it was the other end of the spectrum from this -- lush, gorgeous, and way different from this. As captivating a voice as Annie Lennox.

It was called Alf, you're right - still one of my favourite albums ever. It's a moment in time for me, plus her voice is amazing!

Wow đŸ˜® this takes me back! What a remarkable voice, Alison Moyet!

I pay RP and have for years. I value the excellent curation. Things seem to be changing in the last 18 months as more and more stuff like this is aired. As someone said before it’s a great pop song (that’s why it’s been a staple of the mainstream for decades) but it’s inclusion and others of the same ilk are the reason I increasingly hit the FF button. Perhaps it’s a desire to appeal to the mass audience more for that might make commercial sense but it dilutes the RP purity and this listener would defend that ferociously.

This song wasn't what I would call mainstream in the U.S., maybe you hail from somewhere else.  Anyway, doesn't matter if it was or wasn't, it's a great song!
Put two powerhouse artists together and you get something like Yazoo.
Awesome.
Vince Clark is The Towering Figure of Synth Pop
Rubbish, HectorPascal.

I know that synth pop is for quite some people far from the "quality" of the rock and pop stuff played on RP most of the time, but for me, this MIX is what I'm here for.
"RP purity" would IMHO totally contradict what RP tries to do, wouldn't it?
Thanks RP.
Fantastic synth lines, Yamaha DX-7 maybe?
Yah! My getting ready to go out pre- clubbing album!
Back in the day, of course...

My first 12 inch, awesome synth  sonics that still sounds amazing. Great 3 minutes of synth pop
Alison Moyet!!!!!
Ugh, I can't believe they're playing this [turns volume up two notches, chair dances for entire song]
My wife is just telling me of the first time she heard this, on the coach in London on grade 12 trip, the streets populated by post-punks and new wavers, she and her classmates from a small town of less than 6000. Brings her right back to that moment.
I never thought I'd hear Alf on RP - a welcome addition in my opinion! I might just have to dig out a few of her solo albums later.
Fantastic album and band, vocals and synths.
High praise indeed from a rocker!!!

So was the Yaz/Yazoo name a copyright issue? Being from the UK I've only ever known them as Yazoo
What happened to Yaz?

Yazoo??
Largely forgotten now but very, very high impact album at the time
Rita's Underground Club, Cape Town, 1983. Tequila Sunrises, poppers, sweaty dancefloor, police raids and much much more. I was a rather macho South African boy and I wore mascara and winklepickers. I met my first wife in the video room. Unforgettable.
Brilliant. And what's this after? Thievery Corporation smoothing out all the edges of The Supreme Illusion.

Tonight I'm paying the bills. Then my tithe. <3  I can listen to you at home AND work!

Like many have also said, this brings me back! {#High-five} Bought this album in about 1984 (vinyl, of course), same cover as shown here - band name printed as Yaz (not Yazoo). I loved the whole album then, and still enjoy it now. Sure, the synth and drum track sound dated... but unless you had a REALLY BAD time in the 80s, it's a good, nostalgic kind of dated! {#Bananasplit}
What a Time Machine this one is, eh?
I was instantly transported back to the makeshift disco at the Victoria Hall, in Oundle, Northamptonshire, during the autumn of 1982.
I didn't want to come back.
And the band's name is indeed "Yazoo", you ridiculous bloody yanks.
Some bad things happened in the 80s///
Vince Clarke is the Mozart of Synth Pop. Nobody did more with an Arpeggiator and synth melodies than Vince. This album was friggin brilliant.
Thank god the 80's are over. Always hated those shoulder pads.
Wow!  This one took me way back today!
did I mention I saw Yazoo live back in 1982?

no surprise, both bands are Vince Clarke with a throaty singer.

Apparently, Vince Clarke wrote this as a parting gift for Depeche Mode, when he left the band. They turned him down, so Yaz made a killing on it.

Not sure why this song always seemed to be playing...?
Yaz is great and I wore out this record when I first got it.  RECOGNIZE!

erm, Vince and Alison were called Yazz in the US and sold more records there than here, so technically they are arguably Yazz.   However Yazz from the plastic poulation wasnt a one hit wonder, 4 top 10 hits in the UK and seven albums.

My CDs say "Yaz" on them. Upstairs at Eric's, for example comes as either Yaz or Yazoo

"Upstairs at Eric's" now that takes me back a bit. It wasn't another life, but is sure feels like one today.

Final comment - it's NOT Yaz, it's Yazoo.  Yaz was a female solo vocalist one-hit wonder a few years later.

In fact, this is YAZOO - see the explanation in Wikipedia...

Well with tastes like that I am glad you cut other people a fair amount of slack!

I agree entirely - thank God for the electronic music of the 1980s like Depeche Mode, Yazoo, OMD etc. :-)
In it's time a great track, great album, from one of the most industrious and influential early synthesixer and sampler wizards - Vince Clarke.
Saw them back in 2006 or 2007, don't remember exactly, in Los Angeles.  Interesting show and people at the show and I leave it at that.

Music has (at least) two functions.  Enjoyment, and showing how cool you are.  Listening to Radio Paradise provides both benefits most of the time, but not on this song.

So would I blast this song out of my car? No.  Do I enjoy it.  Yes, yes I do.  I'll just keep my windows rolled up.

I LOOOOOOVE me some Alison!
{#Dancingbanana}{#Dancingbanana}{#Dancingbanana}
Love Yaz! This entire album is a classic. Thanks RP!
I miss disco and blow.
Wow, I simply can not believe the negative comments on this tune. I saw the video on MTV probably the day they first played it and it just took to me instantly.

Allison was a big girl and she sang this with her whole voice. I thought it was totally awesome and still do. I ended up spending my hard earned money to buy the album.

I still have it in my collection.

I looked Allison up on the internet and she is a mere shadow of what she once was size wise but still sings with her whole voice.
Aw, come on people...even if you hate the music, it's Alison Moyet for god's sake...she's amazing.
Up the Yazoo, indeed.

Having survived the 70's, I have no desire to revisit its worst aspects.
Simply bad on mine ears.
Thanks Radio Paradise!
Clarke left Depeche Mode to create this?

I wonder if he ever kicks himself....
Great 80's dance vibe!  Got the chair dancing banana going on!  {#Dancingbanana}
I think they had to call themselves Yaz in the USA (as opposed to Yazoo) because of the Blues label called Yazoo Records CORRECTION: According to Wikipedia, it's because the name was already in use by a small American rock band. It seems that they called themselves Yazoo because of Yazoo Records.

Wow!  "Upstairs at Eric's" (1982) of Band "Yazoo"....very well...much danced at this time!

i have not had the news but i find that this band finished

** 5 **

I cannot for the life of me imagine being young enough or doing enough C or E to dig this.

OOOOHHHHHNOOOOOOOO There's just not enough spandex to cover this song up...Please go...{#Cry}

Who kidnapped Bill?  . . .and who has taken over picking out the music?   yuck!

Yaz, an oral hormonal contraceptive that may also be used to treat premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). Its key ingredient is drospirenone.

garbo sucko {#Puke}
i never thought i'd be the first to comment, but hey someone had to...

my younger dancin' days relieved...loved allison's voice
Shocked! that this hasn't been played before now, it seems like I hear it a lot, probably just in my head. Good album, didn't miss it.

edit: Ha, Rachel. Okay I missed it a little.
all right.  I do dig this song.  really.  puts me in a zone.  I miss it.
Pretty solid pair of 80s tunes —- Lined Up and then this.

Back to the Diamond Club ... 1985 or so ...
