Beneath the bebop moon
I want to croon with you
Beneath the mambo sun
I got to be the one with you

My life's a shadowless horse
If I can't get across to you
In the alligator rain
My heart's all pain for you

Girl you're good
And I've got wild knees for you
On a mountain range
I'm Dr. Strange for you

Upon a savage lake
Make no mistake I love you
I got a powder-keg leg
And my wig's all pooped for you

With my hat in my hand
I'm a hungry man for you
I got stars in my beard
And I feel real weird for you

Beneath the bebop moon
I'm howling like a loon for you
Beneath the mambo sun
I've got to be the one for you

Is it just me or does a lot of T.Rex music sound similar.

Really got a kick out of T-Rex - and only recently found out how long his career was... Marc Bolan kept plugging and simply fell out of favor. I thought he OD'd after a few albums, but sadly he seemed to be coming back, had a contract for a decent BBC show and was in death seat in a car crash. [At least he didn't OD after a few albums...]

T Rex always fills my room like I'm listening thru headphones.
And I like that.

Surely not "obscure" around the BearCave. We be dancin' around the fire here!

Right-o! Then your mind follows too. YES! Your mind follows your hips, and they all follow your tapping foot! 1-2-3-4.-2-3-4... It's all quite easy if you just let go.
The coolest band that probably had the least musical ability in history.

Marc should have sued the shortening out of those clowns.

There must be some marketing genius who can talk knowledgeably about the difference in American and British brand name "strategies." I can't imagine Trex the vegetable fat would fly in the US any more than would Daz or Persil, the laundry detergents.
Nice .... :)

It's safe to say that Marc Bolan influenced a many subsequent performers and still does (i.e.,The Black Keys).

In 1974 or thereabouts, and being completely ignorant of T. Rex and Marc Bolan in my personal pantheon of rock artists.  Just brilliant sh*t.  Still love the hook of "Buick Mackane."

SAME!!

Love Marc Bolan!  Surely a man who was taken before his time!  How about a bit of "Children of the Revolution?"

Back I go again! RP has a mechanism for taking me back to my younger times, and T. Rex is right there.

We played this over and over in my high school dorm - we all contributed to buying albums and then some guys went into town to select a number of albums. High school was overrated; the music was great.
Marc Bolan you were taken before your time.  Nothing wrong here, groovin in the kitchen right now.

Obviously a major inspiration for the Black Keys!

Marc Bolan = genius.

Jeepster is in the world history's top ten ever pieces of music - I humbly suggest.
A true classic. Especialy with the string section.
Everybody in my bike shop loves the "Play Something Different" button...LOVE T-REX

Not my fave T Rex track - but good to hear anyway!

Yes!

I've always thought it was T-Rex that Supergrass emulated more than the Beatles.

Great job Bill!

The long lost classic rock station in Larose La. would play "jeepster" one other T-Rex tune regularly, and lots of the less well known tunes by the greats in classic rock, almost like Bill likes to do.
Sadly (for classic rock fans near there) the station was competing with the N.O. market, but was a small local station.
Ads for it were local to the bayou and they went Cajun music after several good years (I lived in Kenner and could get them in my car, but in much of N.O. could not) of great rock. More power to them though. Cajuns galore in their listening area, and no real good cajun music station...till they changed.

Glam=proto-Post-punk?

more T-Rex- I see Jeepster hasn't been played since 2006...
Bolan gave the worst concert I have ever seen, around 1972, I think.  Too drunk to play (by his own admission), but he tried to anyway.
Marc loved to boogie; such a shame...
This entire album is fantastic. It is hard to believe I never heard them before Billy Elliot pushed me int their direction.

I'm somewhat embarrassed to state that I first heard this song on The Bongos first album (hey, I was a bit too young for the "Glam Heyday"), but I still gotta go with R. Barone's version over Marc's.  But this one is still good.

If you like this, check out Marc Bolans greatest hits by various artists... such an awesome TRex tribute!!!

Daaayum. Nice. More!!!

Sadly, the other two from this album that are on the playlist have languished since 2004 and 2006 unplayed. {#Grumpy}
T. Rex! I haven't heard Marc Bolan since the mid-70s, when the album T. Rex went into long-term storage in a closet in my parents' attic. Great stuff.
