While you were building your empires
I was still sleeping
I was still sleeping
While you were setting your woods afire
I was still dreaming
I was still dreaming

Now I will unsettle the ground beneath you
Send my waters ashore
Creep into your bed
Find you in every corner

While you argue it over
I am not waiting
I am not waiting
While you retreat to your comforts
I am not fading
I am not fading

I've done this many times before you
Old Shanghai, New Orleans
Amsterdam and Mumbai
Strange new creatures
To scavenge your pores
Oh I've done this many times before you
Ashen sky, lightning storms
Deltas to desert plains
Wartime on every border

I've done this many times before you
Watched the pattern take form
Children your time is done
If you say it's done together

Like it already & I haven’t finished hearing it yet. Great image.

No thanks.  When you play only the most popular music, that basically turns the radio station into Jack FM.

I think jack fm is just another shitty format, and prefer stations like this which play stuff off the beaten path

This needs to be played either before or after Sparks' "Never turn your back on Mother Earth"

Can't decide which :P
Another artist I would not know about without radio paradise

Vienna Teng's music always stops me in my tracks.  What an amazing artist!
Female voice among ambient angel sounds and then dark percussion. What?
8 —> 9 on this rainy morning.
Impeccable.

Stunning.

Gorgeous.

(Not you, this song)
An astounding and beautiful segue from Erik Satie, preserving and amplifying the mood created by yer man's Gnossienne No. 1. Kudos, Bill.
This tune wouldn't be out of place on Game of Thrones!! I can imagine Cersei singing it.

She once said that her label calls the group "jazz" for their German bookings (she found that amusing), so perhaps the segue is closer than you think.

I'm a fan of the transition from Gnossiene No. 1 to this.
The music is interesting. Her phrasing, enunciation and voice are enthralling. I lean closer my Bose.
Wonderful artist.  Very good song.

Or Ali Farka Toure.

Edit: Or after Satie, which segue I particularly liked. 7/22

Pssst don't tell Vienna Bill just put her on right after Ella Fitzgerald...
Certain string elements of this song remind me of the soaring grandeur of The Who's "Love Reign O'er Me". However, I'm NOT suggesting Vienna Teng and The Who are in any way alike :)

That distribution defines a troll? Really? That probably resembles *my* distribution. I tend to only vote songs I like - meaning 7~9 and the very rare 10, AND the songs I really, really hate meaning a 1. Mediocre tunes don't inspire me to go to the computer to vote - or even to go to the computer to discover who the artist might be...

It's not the distribution of the ratings, in this case - it's the comment. Gleefully, remorselessly hateful - with profanity.  I'm sure my rating distribution is nothing to write home about, but at least I don't go through a particular artist's playlist and methodically post the same hateful, juvenile slam on every single song by that artist.  To me, that equals "troll."

...i swear i hear john phillips in the undertones...

It wasn't the rating. It was the TONE.  I"ve given my share of "1" ratings (most of which I don't post), and everyone is entitled to their opinions. Using abusive language to state an opinion is, in my opinion, TROLL.  sirdroseph, I have no excuse for you, but I love you anyway. {#Lol}

you wouldn't listen to her musical journey.  I'm sure she's

Don't feed them - and this one's not even old enough to drink.

Not always a fan of hers, but I just had a delicious Indian lunch, and this seems like the sonic equivalent of a good curry - rich and full, some contrast, more than the sum of its parts.
I wonder why t00lur even listens to RP, it's obviously far too classy.

Sounds a bit like Portishead in parts. In case that's not obvious, that's a Good Thing(tm). I don't think she's trying to sound like Portishead, my brain just has to compare it to a song I've heard before. Maybe if I hear this enough, I'll say Portishead sounds like Vienna Teng. :-)

To me, this is rather un-ordinary, and I love it.  It certainly fits in with the mood Bill has created, of layers of powerful female vocals with varying flavors.  Even Tori Amos's cover of a Nirvana song fits well in this set.  {#Meditate}{#Sunny}

Saw her in concert at the Berklee Performance Center in Boston a month ago. She's truly fantastic live.
Cool stuff.  A little jarring when her vocal jumps to being mixed so close. But a lovely song, beautifully arranged & recorded.

Right you are (from AMG): "A pianist since the age of five, Teng took piano lessons before moving on to improvisation." (What a terrible sentence, yes?) At any rate, the full magilla is here: https://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&opt1=1&uid=SEARCH&sql=Vienna|Teng
