There's a vulture perching right offscreen
And it's bitter and whispers chaotic things
And the weeps turn quick into bullying
It's so easy to see everyone can agree stop listening

I know you've heard it before
But then it wasn't enough
You don't want to be held back from the substitution
I know you've seen this before
And now enough is too much
You don't want to be set back when the substitution comes

I'm sorry

You're a marionette in the center of
The twisting of strings coming from above
It may seem too deep to recover from
It's so easy to see everyone can agree just let it go

I know you've heard it before
But then it wasn't enough
You don't want to be held back from the substitution
I know you've seen this before
And now enough is too much
You don't want to be set back when the substitution comes

I'm sorry
I'm sorry

When the voices start spitting just be aware
I've brought enough stones for us to share
That one's grinning, that one's burning aim for the throat
Let 'em choke on the stones that we have to throw

It's the great downfall
The big overthrow
If we shoot them down
It'll make you soar

When reactions turn into hurricanes
And the middle ground seems a little tame
Whether full or empty, it's all the same
It's so easy to see everyone can agree you're not to blame

I know you've heard it before
But then it wasn't enough
You don't want to be held back from the substitution
I know you've seen this before
But now enough is too much
You don't want to be set back when the substitution comes

I'm sorry

True he does sound a lot more like Brendan B. Brown of Wheatus than Billy Corrigan to me as others here seem to hear.

Wish they would add some Wheatus to the Rock Mix.

They JAM! I hope to see them in Feb at The Ogden down in Denver! Can't wait!
Silversun in the rotation more lately it seems...I like it.

today anyway, lol

GOOD TUNE!! I never heard of this band before RP. ...Thank You RP!
The mix in this recording reminds me of Smashing Pumpkins. Thick with scooped mids and detail in the highs. Good stuff!

sheesh.  i just happened back to RP (with my vol somewhat mismatched) right into some "Silversun" pickup overload.  not too sure bout the rest of the song but the slammin guitar was surprise/fun.  thx.

Why didn't they just name themselves "Smashing Pickups" or "Silversun Pumpkins"?

Because if a singer has a similar voice, it MUST be a copycat band.
Great stuff! Very refreshing.

James Brown and The Grateful Dead are about as congruous as orange juice and toothpaste.

You know it is a good day when RP plays two songs in a row that you rate 10.
The lead break in this song gets my blood going  . . . turn it up every time!

Really liked this band until I saw Charles Manson singing. Now it's just creepy.

I respect your comment, rdo.  I never thought before that this singer's voice was breathy or could be considered annoying. I like this song just the way it is.  For me, a solid 8

You know it is a good day when RP is playing your favorite iTunes playlist.  Two 10s in a row!!
The singer is way too breathy.  Dislike.

I always think of "Wraith Pinned To The Mist And Other Games" by Of Montreal when I hear this song.
damn, the guitar at first made me think this was a stones song.

VERY GOOD.
Like it, but kinda getting tired of it.

I love this album to bits - not a duff track on it, minimum rating 8. Another band I'd never have even got a sniff of if not for RP.

Agreed. Great album, nice flow. CG's drumming really keeps it together and propels it, along with BA's driving distorted guitar!
If only they had a different singer. (Steve Perry and Jon Anderson need not apply.)
Another example of how a singer can completely ruin a song for me. His voice sounds suitable enough for one of those teenage bands. The song isn't bad, but can't stand it :-)
I don't even necessarily dislike this song or band. But I don't feel they need to be played multiple times each day as they are. {#Snooty}

Thanks for the link - this is one male who found it interesting...song sounded good on the second listen too!
seems to remind me of several bands, some of which I can't remember the names of right now (old age?)...but despite that, or perhaps because of it I quite like this on first listen.

A lot of people used to say the same about Billy Corrigan.  I think these guys try to emulate the Pumpkins.  It's a good thing.  I don't think they are in the same league though. But they are pretty good.

Agree! What seems to be the issue? Who cares: what's important is that one likes the song regardless ones physical features (e.g. voice) or being hetero, gay or whatever!

I think a number of listeners to this station need better speakers. The singer does NOT sound female. His voice is a bit higher pitched than that of many male singers, but female? Not hardly.

Good tune, regardless of whoever else likes it - and I don't think 12-year-olds purchased this album much.

Taken out of context, your sentence has a kind of creepy connotation - I know that was not what you meant, just sayin'.

This group is growing on me.

6 to 7

When this guys comes out the other side of puberty he might just have a fairly decent voice.
This is good for your ears, or? :)

Of what? Do tell. Just saying that X is derivative is like asking 'how many dogs?' . And 'derivative' is not in itself an insult - after thousands of years of human music making all music derives from earlier music, so saying a song is "derivative" is like saying that night is dark.

There's a video of this on YouTube which will be of particular interest to many str8 male viewers, I'm sure.

{#Puke}utterly derivative.

By all means if you like Swoon, you'll love their earlier album Carnavas - it's excellent!

Great song to get your ass in gear in the morning.
Great soundscapes from this band - his voice sounds more edgy on this track.
I love their song Rusted Wheel from the album Carnavas, and Growing old is getting old from this latest release.
When I first heard them, I thought it was a girl singing.

Ooo - more. I've only heard a coupld of songs, but now I know these kids can rock, too.  I like it a lot. {#Dancingbanana_2}
Great Voice!
More SP on RP, please!

My GF's first comment, after I played this CD to her in the car, was that the band were very reminiscent of the Smashing Pumpkins, though they can't be that close to them as I can't be doing with the SPs. It's the percussion and distinctive voice that really makes this CD stand out from the crowd IMO. I wish I could understand the lyrics a bit more, though maybe I'm 30 years too old to do so :(

I like this. It's been a year since we've heard Lazy Eye. Bill, bring it back (please). {#Bananajam}
Weakest song on a great album.
I like most of what I've heard from these guys (and girl), but this one seems a bit underwhelming.
7 -> 8.
This band is going to be in for a big change when the singer hits puberty.
I try to like this band, but I find the breathy whispering vaguely off putting. The actual singing at the end of this song is not bad.
